Which is a safe coin to invest in the long term?
How long should I hold it?

Is there a risk that I might lose it all?

I am a noob in cryptocurrencies. Help.  Huh

I was thinking Litecoin, is it a good idea?
I think that you should diversify your investment among Bitcoin, litecoin and monero as all of these coins have tremendous amount of potential to grow in the future. Bitcoin being the master of all crypto has the higher chances to grow in the future. It is without any doubt the most stable crypto to invest in and should account for 50 percent of your portfolio. Litecoin and monero both should have a 25 percent share of your investment.

You can  invest in many coin. But choose selective. My suggestion is you must invest in Ethereum and Bancor. And finally buy Doge coin as much as possible and keep it almost 4 or 5 years.

I would go with 24 of them, each one with 500$.
Which altcoins will you choose is up to you.
It is lots of money to buy only one altcoin, spread your funds wisely, don't put all eggs in one basket  Wink

Not financial advice but I would think diversification and stay informed are key to crypto investment. Blockchain technology are evolving very quickly, a promising coin/project/tech today could be a legacy idea in 6-12 months time. So it's likely that you will need to stay up to date.

Personally I am in favor of Protocol coins, the infrastructure for the crypto economy, rather than application coin in certain verticals. I would probably put 50% in bitcoin, 30% in ether and EOS and 20% in other alts. But please do your own research before you get into crypto investment, make sure you understand the coin model and risk associated. There are some good intro videos on youtube for beginners like boxmining etc.

The risk of losing is always there. To reduce the risks, you must diversify them. Do not put everything in one altcoin-buy a few. In general, I would not advise you to invest only in altcoins. Invest 50% of your capital in bitcoin, the remaining 50% in altcoins. Good luck!

Invest in multiple coins, choose the top ones and invest carefully always being cautious. Most coins are volatile and are unpredictable.

If a coin price is too high then not invest them. For now QTUM looks fine cause its really cheap against other cryptocoins.
Also keep an eye to Monero its performing nice and its almost stable against btc.

Some people may say cryptocurrency are unpredictable because time to time, it fluctuates but if you have courage to do it, there are two things happen to you win or lose, But in so many case people are now confident to involve with this type of business, since im not totally familiar with alt-coins, I better gamble my money in bitcoin because it is the most expensive and the most dominant of all type of coins:)

Litecoin is good. But I prefer investing in Bitcoin. Or you can divide your portfolio to Btc, eth, monero and litecoin.

Keep in mind that you might lose that cash. Accept that before you move forward.

Diversify between many but I can say that NAV and ARK are ones I look in to for long term. Good luck!

Long term investments are Ethereum, Ripple, Stellar, Litecoin and NEO. All these will eventually give out massive profits.

Several ICO projects were getting developed around for varied necessity. It's good to invest into one such ico project. For the same you could try with the one that has good reputation, United Traders token. Apart from the same ripple and some top altcoins were marking a good growth around the cryptocurrency network which can get a good profit on long term holding.

You could have a look at the ICO of savedroid. savedroid is a german fintech aiming to make cryptocurrencies available for mass market users. savedroid already has a strong userbase (200k) and plans to integrate the feature cryptosaving in 2018. Have a look at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26252983 for more information Smiley

it is much better to invest to many alt coins but only the top coins that are stable in the crypto market so that you can hold them for long like the DASH ETH LTC or if you can try BTC.  Grin

On crypto world its nothing 100% safe. You dont have to be afraid about not being 100% safe because nothing in this world are 100% safe. We can be 100% sure only for taxes and death Cheesy Anyway in my opinion the most safe coins that also have a good potential to double or tripple your investment in 2018 are :
1.Bitcoin
2.Ethereum

Some other coins that you may benefit but i consider them less safe than the first 2 are :

1. Litecoin
2. Monero
3. Neo

Last but not least are some coins with very cheap value ( these are the most risky investments because if they don't deliver their project how they pretend the coin can be dumped and you can lose everything, but if they manage to deliver their project and continue following the steps on their road-map can give you huge profits)

1. SONM
2. Golem
3. Siacoin
4. Einsteineum
5. Flixxo

The last one is based on my intuit : Digibyte (Some of you maybe will laugh or will criticize me telling me that they have near 10billion supply and max supply 21 billions) i picked this coin because the coin itself its very well organized, i have experienced always the fastest transactions (almost instantly the coins are transferred) and also the transaction fee is very very low ( almost zero $ ) In the future the interest on this coin will raise, people in the end will ask more fast transaction and less fees.

Good luck with your investments !
