Just had to redo a new computer...
Now I have downloaded and installed all of my programs / modules/ etc.  On a windows 8 machine.

Every time I try to run
run_p2pool.py
or p2pool.exe

I get a note saying that the receiving machine has actively refused the connection???
Any hep would be appreciated!!!
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the error, but I'd start with checking:

Ports 9332 & 9333 open?

RPC User and Pass set for BitcoinD?

It would be nice to have share info after rebooting p2pool node, someone with the skills could do that. Please.
I think it could be easy, but..

f = open("shares.txt","w")

replaced with

f = open("shares.txt","a")

The log file is a pretty good place to start...

This is untested but should work OK assuming you have enough memory to grep the log...

Code:
$share_pattern '/GOT\ SHARE/';
$log_path '/path/to/logs/p2pool';
$shares preg_grep($share_patternfile($log_path));
foreach(
$shares as $share)
{

$pieces explode(" "$share);

$shareDate $pieces[0]." ".$pieces[1];

$shareMiner $pieces[4];

$shareShare $pieces[5];

$shareDoa = (isset($pieces[10]) ? true false);

$values[] = array('miner'=>$shareMiner'share'=>$shareShare'date'=>$shareDate'doa'=>$shareDoa);
}
print_r($values);
?>

im looking for some help to get my p2pool working properly. it is currently displaying about 10x lower local hashrate than i am actually doing. i made the networks.py files for fuelcoin and have been working to get a good p2pool working for it. is there any way i could get the proper hashrates to display. and if you have any suggestions for my p2pool to get it working a bit better that would be great.

What's ironic is that users don't understand that it's .....blahblahblah

Hello forrestv

Stupid introduction without basis and in direct contradiction with public posts for the last 2 years on bitcointalk everyone can check out.

/his lover

Kindergarten-level taunting.

- nice of you to drop in. Are you upset because users are trying to improve something that you convinced yourself was perfect in every detail for the last 2 years?

"Users trying to improve" -> trolls that have repeatedly demonstrated they don't have anything to contribute other than their continuous rants.

Foregone conclusion: one more ignore. Enjoy ranting with other unproductive trolls wasting each other time.

When you compare the quality of ASIC hardware, which is often reported as being delivered in a beat-up state, with forked miner software and dodgy firmware and how stable p2pool is, the double-standard about quality is obvious.

Yeah, it's strange how people could think it's the p2pool code that causes only select hardware to have problems. There was a time in the early days of ASICs when there actually was an issue with how p2pool talked to any ASIC based hardware, then that got fixed.

Now that those who previously complained about this have changed their minds in a haughty foot-stomping sob, maybe we can forget about it. Tip for you guys: stop buying incompatible hardware, or cursing the sky for being blue  Cheesy

Re: Bitfury, the OneString devices also work on p2pool, the BFSB design was the only one that doesn't AFAIK.

Bigmouths? Mature. Impressive.

You know not what you say. GTFO.

You sound much more intelligent & grown-up in the press thread. Please go back there.

That's just a sad statement. If you have nothing constructive to spout, please don't bother. Some people here are actually trying to do something about it.

Idiot.

Wait a second, is this your way of telling everyone that you're some of the people who've been blaming the wrong developers for Bitmain devices not working? I don't actually recognise any of you, except Patman, who I thought always understood that the problem was on the hardware/firmware side. Will the real bigmouth please stand up!

What's ironic is that users don't understand that it's an interface problem and that there are 2 parts in an interface. As p2pool's interface fully respect the Bitcoin and pool protocols if your hardware doesn't work at all, you might have a bigger problem that not being able to use p2pool : if pool operators need to change their software and implement some of the protocol options p2pool already use, the hardware will suddenly stop producing income until they find about the problem, find an alternative pool or upgrade their firmware.

If this is a latency problem instead of a protocol support problem, trying to solve it on p2pool's end is OK in the short term (and the only person working on this right now is forrestv). But if you have a measurable latency problems with an average 30 second window of valid block template, you probably lose a few % of income on any pool too (even if it's less than on p2pool which will have more DOA). So ultimately solving the latency problem on the hardware/firmware is the only way of ensuring the best income on all pools (p2pool or not). Seeing users blaming large amounts of DOA on p2pool while ignoring that they are actively losing income on any pool by not pressuring the vendors to solve this is baffling.

When you compare the quality of ASIC hardware, which is often reported as being delivered in a beat-up state, with forked miner software and dodgy firmware and how stable p2pool is, the double-standard about quality is obvious. Miners are now used to crappy hardware and the fact that hardware manufacturers don't give a **** about their product once they have sold them (some even don't deliver...). This thread is a sad illustration of this situation.

BTW : maybe some Bitfury hardware doesn't work with p2pool, but clearly the chips themselves don't have high latencies or any inherent p2pool incompatibility, CryptX bitfury boards are working nicely with p2pool for ~9 months now

Really hope we can get them to play with our pool!

Exactly - this is vital, S2's also.  I don't know how much info PatMan sent Bitmain, but I sent a shit load of stuff to him. The reply from Bitmain was very encouraging, but it's important that we keep the pressure on them & other hardware manufacturers to consider p2pool when designing their hardware. I tip my hat to PatMan for putting all the info together for Bitmain - it seems to have made an impression..... Smiley

Agreed, Thanks PatMan. My reply to the purchase email from Bitmain:

Quote
Payment made: https://blockchain.info/tx/...

Please ensure they work well with p2pool.

Thank you.

BooYAH!!! Found the block...

Code:
2014-06-30 09:01:00.028950 [b]GOT BLOCK FROM MINER! Passing to bitcoind![/b] https://blockchain.info/block/00000000000000002b5eccd39cca841bc8d13da1c5351aa1651ded729b2f7fce

You're welcome Wink

 Cry

you hopped off my node... boohoo please come back.

I'll be back with more TH when I get more EU Rentals... I've got some US based rentals now and luckily those TH on my node were just in time to get me that block... and the merged mining rewards (such as they are).

ah no worries! i agree, no point pointing US rigs at an EU node!

best luck cracking the next block mate!

The next few blocks should be pretty juicy, full of Bitmain S3 transactions.  People are buying them up at 10, 20, 30 at a time...

indeed... some of that BTC being chucked around for that purpose; is my own   Cheesy

Some of that is mine as well Smiley Really hope we can get them to play with our pool!

I'm holding (or hodling) out to see what the S1 upgrades will look like and how much they'll cost.
