Behave  Cheesy

Soon everything will be encrypted, like it or not. Anything not encrypted is/will be vulnerable.

Might as well get used to it.

No, I'm afraid it doesn't.

I'd like to see encryption between all p2pool nodes as well as miners - especially after this latest attack on miners.

Encryption between p2pool nodes is pointless. Nothing prevents an attacker from creating his own nodes to infect the network.

Encrypting connections from miners to public nodes may be worthwhile.

I noticed bfgminer are working on integrating SSL/TLS support in their miner - I've been looking through p2pool documentation but can't find any info on weather p2pool supports it or not.....anybody shed some light on this for me?

Peace.

If you're using a local node it shouldn't matter.

M

Hi mdude,

Obviously not for the local miner node, I meant for the remote miner as well as nodes to node communication. I see there are many reports from various pools that there is some kind of bug/malware causing redirects etc, hence the reason for the SSL/TLS - just to give another level of security. I like the thought of internode comms being securely encrypted, as well as the miner software  Smiley

I asked in the CGMiner thread if it supported SSL/TLS haven't heard back yet does anyone here know if it does?

Actually I should rephrase that I was wondering if they had the same plans as BFG or not?

I don't think you can, I think p2pool.info is just that, info

http://p2pool.hostv.pl/

Correct. This is just a historical info site that forrestv took over from whoever else used to maintain it. There's no public node running there.

Code:
 The list below includes all known p2pool blocks. Orphaned blocks appear with strikethrough. Note: The list below may not include all orphaned blocks due to limitations in how the bitcoin client reports them.

this made me think you can mine there ... and I was thinking "hey they find a lot of blocks here!"
Smiley
They're the same exact blocks that are found by every other node. That site just displays them.

why do you want on proprietary server ?!?
p2pool is the ability to mine with your server...

if you don't want ... use this thread : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/p2pool-server-list-66182

Blank password? Have you tried just putting password

Stop you need stratum, remove http and the slashes

  {
      "url" : "stratum+tcp://p2pool.info:9332",
      "user" : "address",
      "pass" : "pass"
   }

still not working .... even tryed with bitpop as password Tongue

I want to help a friend set up his miners on a p2pool

and I've decided I want to use this one  http://p2pool.info/

but i can't find the port for it and it's not working with 9332

I managed to make bfgminer work with this p2pool http://p2pool.org:9332/static/ but I want to use the first one

can anyone tell me what port number should I use to mine there?

this is my original post from technical support

BFGMiner works for me, I would check to make sure your firewall isn't blocking the outbound ports.

as you can see on .org it's working for me too but on .info it's NOT!!!

I want to mine on .info!
