Any ideas why looking at the share graphs they all have a steady decline? Usually it goes up for a share found and down accordingly when the share expires. Since P2Pools almost doubling in size since yesterday the shares including new ones seem to drop steadily and almost drastically.

The payout graphs for p2pool show payout per block. If the pool grows and therefore finds more blocks and your hash rate stays constant then you get less per block, but the same amount overall.

Graphs showing estimated payout per day would be good to add. Those would not decline if the pool grows, which I agree creates a perception problem when users don't understand what is going on.

Thanks for the info PatMan Smiley

I'm asking users on the pool to append +hashrate after their user names, I wonder if this could be affecting the payout or if it is simply because of the huge growth P2Pool is experiencing?

Take a look at the miner chart http://67.189.82.137:9332/static/miners.html?Day and let me know what you think about the decline in share values.

Thanks

Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....
As far as I'm aware, proxies not compatible with p2pool, I don't know of anyone (including me) who has been able to run p2pool with them - have a scroll back through this thread - you'll see. You don't need to "setup" stratum - it just works.

Peace.

p2pool supports stratum.
I thought so too, when I use stratum+tcp://67.189.82.137:9332 for my pool url my miners connect fine, so I would assume that stratum works. But two things that make me think that it doesn't is my cgminer says that it is not a stratum pool even though it connected fine. The second concern I have that makes me think stratum is not working is that I am leasing rigs from leaserig.net, the majority of the rig owners are using LRP (LeaseRigProxy) which means only stratum pool mining is supported to lease their equipment, and I am unable to get any of those running on my pool.

Maybe I'm missing a step in my setup to get stratum working?

Better get new hardware!
Same.  Ordered a new 0.63BTC Antminer S1 direct from bitmain.  I'm sad that this new hashrate hit during my own personal share slump.  booo

Oh, I'm very thankful, and I want more! Lemme go buy up some more hardware so I can cash in on this mania! ... *evil grin*

Definitely!  I went from expected time to share of about an hour and a half to about 3 and a half hours because of the jump in difficulty that came as part of the increased hash rate.  First thing I thought was, "Better get new hardware!"  Grin

It seems our pool hash rate has shot up by over 100TH in the last few hours, and it's still rising.  Yay us! Anyone know what happened? Did some smaller pool switch to using p2pool as their back end?

The luck chasers are here.

EDIT: Wow: Expected time to block: 19.5 hours

I'm running a node, hosting a pool, thanks to you forestv... I am currently renting some hashing power and would have more options if I could enable stratum on my pool as many of my options only support stratum protocol. Any ideas where I could look into enabling stratum protocol on my p2pool node/pool?

"Warning: LOST CONTACT WITH BITCOIND "

Hi,

I'm having  a problem with my Dogecoin windows (32 bit) p2pool and would appreciate some help.

I installed Dogecoin p2pool for window by following these instructions:
http://www.reddit.com/r/dogemining/comments/1wmw3j/how_to_setup_p2pool_locally_windows

The pool was running great for a day when I started having connection issues.
For some reason connection to the p2pool or connection between the pool and the wallet QT is lost.
The connection is lost 2 or 3 min after starting the p2pool. After that it's on and off connection.

I disabled the firewall and anti-virus just to be sure its not blocking the connection, but that doesn't look like the cause.
Both uPnP in Windows and my router are turned on.

Here are some lines from my  log file:

Thank you!
Well, you probably have an old version of dogecoin.

Did you cut 1m40s out of the log, or is that exactly what it looked like?  If that's so, it's definitely an old version of dogecoin.  (and a slow machine)

if not, the only connection you've maintained is 127.0.0.1.  so you have a connectivity issue

How do i find out what i am owed on p2pool.org ?

I have disconnected my 1Th miner, mining BTC, where do i look/search Huh

It doesn't work like that with p2pool. You connect using a bitcoin address, and whenever a block is found it is automatically paid out. You earn shares in the pool while you mine on there (shares are distributed across all p2pool nodes). You can even switch between p2pool nodes (eg if one goes down), and your shares are kept up to date and continue. I've got 3 backup nodes set up on my miners.

Some sites have a stats section where you can see how much you can expect to be paid if a block is found "now", and you'll get that, like this one: http://blisterpool.com/stats

For example, P2pool just found a block about 5 minutes ago, and I found that out from my bitcoin client, which told me I just got generation coins. Blisterpool is a p2pool node, but this one in particular pays out a bonus in dvc based on hashpower if you register a btc/dvc address pair.

You should contact them on their support thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annltcbtcnmcpoolpplns-p2poolorg-p2pool-multi-mining-pool-176938

p2pool.org is just a public node like many people run, it's not an official site/service/etc of the P2Pool project (which this thread is for).
