If those addresses are Pirate, wouldn't that imply that Pirate is a ponzi? He's been hoarding that but until the last couple days it's just been sitting there. How would he generate 7% returns with 500k doing nothing?

My thoughts exactly. Moreover a substantial portion of those funds moving out now and presumably crashing the market also points in that same direction. Pirate owes a ton of BTC, if anything you might expect him to be buying, not selling.

Guess we will know in a few days.

Anyone consider that it really might be SR? Perhaps the price crash triggered a lot of people to withdraw
The transaction took place before this most recent crash, though. Maybe it was the $15 high that people wanted to withdraw at?

To me, unlikely. People are generally not traders; they follow market movements, not create them. Signs still point to Pirate.

Oh boy, those 20k BTC from earlier are moving like bees with diabetes from one flower to another. I cant even keep track of that money. Looks like when it finally arrives, it will be clean as a whistle.

The 80k BTC are still staying put.

Does the latest move (sending 20k BTC and 80k BTC from there) still fit in with your assumption?
It certainly doesn't prove that it isn't Mt. Gox' address. But yeah... I wouldn't expect Mt. Gox to be moving a lot of BTC right now. I wouldn't think a plummeting price would trigger BTC withdrawals.

He himself couldnt possibly send more then 20k BTC a day to other accounts/addresses (see mtgox withraw limits). Its either MtGox' backend or the funds have not reached Gox yet.

Follow that 20k.

What is the point of this? As of now, there are 18 different confirmed addresses the 20k transfers to, making small (relatively) deposits on the way. What is going on?

Cabincall on Hindencoin before landing:

Ladies and gentlemen, we have just lost cabin pressure.

Remain calm, although the bag does not inflate, oxygen still flows through the mask.

Please brace yourselves in the emergency landing position, noting the emergency exits nearest your seat.
