I will prefer 2000 ripple because it being in existence before cardono i trust ripple more than cardano ripple has volume more than cardano

Ripple and Cardano are good coins with high potential. With current bearish market I would rather sell these 2 coins and split them between btc and eth.

Ripple is backed by the ripple bank which may seem very good in people's eyes but there are a lot of crypto enthusiasts that do not support the idea behind ripple. 2000 ripple of course because ripple was buy of a bank and supported of the bank it will sure pump after over years. If you pick ripple so thay you are lucky to HODL it. Make sure you will sell it at a good price 
It is good idea to give digital currency on someone's birthday. And this trend will definitely promote the use and importance of cryptocurrency. If you mean what coins are good between the two. I personally like and prefer ripple. I also like cardano but not more than XRP. XRP is I think doing what it is established for unlike other coins. Many banks across the globe are accepting it and it is rising gradually.
I prefer Rippl, the banking industry will always be the most profitable place, so I am convinced that Rippl will show himself even more ahead of Ethereum in the next race.

Both are good, I just have a little more faith in Cardano. With that feeling I would go with giving to

It is better to invest in both coins because both these coin are in the top 20 list. These are strong investor support for a long term investment.

2000 ripple looks more potential than 5000 cardano, and if you look at the market cap, ripple has better potential to ride than cardano.
