Give all those ripple yet that coins is pretty useless to me. Centralized and back up by banksters which can really be manipulated. Cardano would be a good or do have the potential to rise up in the future. Checking out into its specs you will able to see this tech to boom out on upcoming years which is really more worth to hold on than Ripple itself.

XRP is not crypto its centralised and i would suggest you to give ADA on his birthday and ask him to hold it for coming few years as currently its undervalued and its project will take approximately 2-3 years to be fully matured.ADA is basically improved form of ETH and it has great potential to grow in future compared to XRP.XRP is hyped only and nothing else.

I would choose 5000 cardano instead of 2000 ripple. Ripple has higher value than cardano so by not choosing Ripple, you are dumping that centralize coin.Ripple = $0.676304 * 2000 = $1,352
Cardano = $0.248949 * 5000 = $1,244
The difference isn't far but still I'd love to choose cardano.
And why do not you want to buy 1000 ripple and 2500 cardano? But I would in your place have bought at least 10 different altcoins. In my opinion, such a retention strategy will be much better!

If I were you, I would better leave for myself 5 thousand Cardano and give your friend 200 Ripple. As for me, ADA has more chances to grow very fast, at least it will do it faster than Ripple. But it is sure, up to you.
Although both entered the top 10 of the best coins, the potential of Cardano is greater than what is in the ripple. development of Cardano is more clearly seen than in the ripple. Despite the increase in ripple last year quite big but in the end at a price that fell a few months ago the ripple can only show a small change.
Depends how tech savvy your friend is, if they don't have a clue how to use it, it'd be like giving them a fishing rod if they had no interest in fishing. Yeah it maybe the best damn fishing gear around but it's useless to someone that doesn't know how to or want to use it.

no ripple will dead lol i prefer cardano than ripple. i think ripple is full of manipulation, many have predicted the ripple will not last long. I prefer cardano because it is obvious the technology and who is behind this project.

I'd recommend you to always choose over the XRP, this thing is not very reliable in my opinion...
I think both have great future, however in real life use Ripple is way ahead of ADA, everything you see in ADA just a whitepaper plan for future, they haven't done anything special for the hype they created a few months ago, another hand Ripple is the real deal.
For me, I'll choose ADA although XRP has higher rank than ADA on Coinmarketcap but I still believe that ADA has better potential than XRP in the future. For now, I'm also holding a huge amount of ADA and waiting till ADA price reach to 1$ or more than that
Why don't you choose both of them? IMO, I think both XRP and ADA are good cryptocurrencies with low price to invest in at the moment. I think you also knew that invest all your money in only 1 cryptocurrency is not a good idea so it'll be better if you split your capital into these two cryptocurrencies

I still believe in ripples rather than cardanao, though the ripple now has a low price and a not-insignificant increase but the ripple has a good future and also been in a high position some time ago.

Your friend will not appreciate it if he has no idea about cryptocurrency. It is better to give him a present that he will appreciate. But if your friend is involve in cryptocurrency I think he will appreciate whether you give XRP or Cardano. 
In my opinion, the better option is to give him Cardano. I count more on this coin while Ripple, despite many banks with which he has signed a contract, Ripple will not be very successful I think.
