What do you guys think the price will be at the end of 2015, lets settle on that before we talk about 2016.  I hope more and more people use Bitcoin every day I just don't think it will become mainstream until at least 2025 if it survives that long.

That's what I thought, but it appears bitcoin is breaking through right now from $200 to $460. I am shocked why and how this happened, and I just started a thread asking this. Hope I can get answers.  Huh Huh

The bear market has lasted long enough. I predict 2016 is the year where bitcoin finally breaks through, both in price and in mainstream adoption.

The fork issue is a distraction. It won't kill bitcoin. The majority will eventually choose what fork they want to use, whether it is the original, or XT, or some third option.

I see the fork issue as silly infighting which only hurts bitcoin. I want bitcoin to succeed, that's what I care about, not what version of BTC I use. I will go with the majority, whichever fork is chosen.

It all depends on whether the current BTC jump will fuse with BTC jump which will generated due to expected halving. If this takes place, $3k BTC, here we come.

As I see Bitcoin's movement towards price and adoption, I think 2016 will definitely be the year of Bitcoin. Maybe its price will go up above the $1000 mark. So I'm very optimistic and going to hold my BTC until it is the right time.  Cheesy

$1000? That is a lot! for 1 bitcoin it is like a price of gold and not just a coin of gold a big chunk of gold. I love that idea of being optimistic though. Hope that happens.

I hope bitcoin will reach again 1000 mark by july 2016 after the halving of block reward. Due to the shortage in supply and also with the increasing demand of bitcoin as it will be accepted by more merchants by then.

It is hoped

Time to resurrect my thread and say that my predictions are starting to look rather good, in light of the current price increase.

Of course I didn't expect such a big move so fast, but I guess no-one did. And yes, this could be just a pump & dump too, but even so I would expect the price to be higher afterwards than where it started.

Um, yeah, that's not gonna happen. It's good to have dreams though. Dreams help people muddle through painfully boring lives.

So long as Bitcoin is limited to 7 transactions a second I cannot see it going anywhere next year apart from down the drain.

There is always a possibility that bitcoin will reach $1000 again but so many people will dump it would crash again.

Hope so. I want to see again the $1000 price and hoping btc xt will gone forever coz it really hurts the price.
XT is not hurting price, price depends on so many factors that you can't know what have most impact on price
XT is just vote in one debate

I think the ongoing blocksize debate will keep happening forever, I don't see how some people are waiting for some sort of conclusion. Due Bitcoin's open source nature everything is open for debate constantly, so we should focus on trying to improve Bitcoin and ignore those that constantly talk about this or that blocksize mb limit as ideal.

Unfortunately, this talks prove that we are ready to see different perspectives and tackle about what need to be done as a community. What is quite unhealthy in such discussions of ideas is that people tend to go personal about it, not even thinking of what's good and will benefit all. On the XT-Core debate, I see some people close-mindedly defend their ideas without opening up on some solutions which are plausible too. That's where the drama begins: close-minded people not accepting any other ideas to be freely discussed upon.

I wish same way that 2016 can be the year of Bitcoin, and that possible for many causes. Bitcoin is famous nowdays and make more and more fans daily and we hear that great companies use it and support it so i guess it's the future's currency

I really hope that 2016. will become the year of bitcoin and that some bog merchants will accept BTC.
If not 2016, maybe a few years more but future belong definitely to us Smiley

Even the big merchants will be forced to accept bitcoin when bitcoin hit bigger price on the consequence of halving. I just say the reverse thing of your view.
So, definitely future is ours in either way. Unless Satoshi has not scheduled halving then we need to wait for more times.

P2P markets like Open Bazaar that cannot be shut down and reward halving are two strong indicators to me that the price could go up.

Usability and adoption have also grown during the past 2 years lull.

At the very least 230$ seems to have become a very stable floor - stable currencies are seen as strong and usually increase in value during crisis.

Nope, 2016 isn't the one.

On the contrary, bitcoin will be weaker this year. I would be surprised if the prices stay around 230$ at the end of 2016.
