I can smell Boston heading back to the finals once again.
If ever they win against the Cavaliers, I don't think that either Pacers or NYK will be easy on them. We know that Celtics have been struggling always if they're against the Miami Heat but there's no poison on them this time.
Because Butler was out that's why it was easy for them, but the Cleveland Cavaliers, this is another team, they haven't meet in the playoffs yet so we can't say if the Celtics could just easily beat them. mitchell has been in the playoffs many times consistently in his previous team, so this stage is not new for him, he will be the leader of the Cavaliers and will try to make it a tough challenge for the celtics.
Yeah, it might be a different story this time and we'll see what will happen. But for now, I am excited to see the 2nd game of Nuggets and Timberwolves and game 1 of Pacers and New York Knicks.

Many are rooting for them but with how the Minnesota Timberwolves are doing and Anthony Edwards is getting more media time, this is for sure helping their fan base to increase and rooting for them to win against the former champions who's been the #1 candidate for this year's title.
Denver have to win game 2 and this series will be equal. And yes, we cannot deny that Edward is now getting a lot of attention, some fans even compare him to Jordan which they believe his father, LOL.. but he was really good, it's fun to watch him play as he is very hungry at winning.
Haha, Butler and Edwards are brothers. Actually, that's a good thing for the league as it adds more curiosity and story to every player. But then, both the league, the players and this playoffs are getting more exciting.

He deserve it.

The last time they've played against the Magic, he did everything with all his might but ain't enough. This time, he's able to push it and they're going to be against Celtics.

But who's going to be your series winner on them? I bet most are going to be with the Celtics.
The home team won every game in this series which shows you that home field advantage is a real thing. I wasn't shocked to see this series go 7, but it ends here. Boston is just too big for them. I feel like a gentleman's sweep is going to happen for the next series. Tatum and Brown are going to run all over Cleveland.
I agree.

Whoever goes to the home at the last match of the series gets the advantage and it's even more crucial this conference semi finals.

I root with what everyone thinks, the Celtics might be too much for the Cavs, not to mention the Celtics are also on a mission trying to redeem themselves not only with the Heat but the shot all the way to the finals.
Still kudos for the Cavs for winning their first series win since LeBron or their first series win since 1993 and that's without LeBron. This is already a good achievement for s team that has been struggling without that 1 player who changes everything for their franchise history.
The first LeBron left Cleveland, they were against the Orlando Magic who had prime Dwight Howard, Michael Pietrus, Rashard Lewis, & Turkoglu. These guys rain 3s against the Cavs in the entire series.  That was also the moment were the most anticipated LeBron and Kobe finals match up died.
Man, there's just too many memories from this current Cavs series win today against the Magic lol.
Yeah, I've seen those history made by the Cavs and the same goes for the Magic. Considering that the Cavs have not been in the playoffs this long with so many rosters build up that they've made, they deserve to be there.

I disagree, Boston looks like a solid team, are they good enough to win the title? I am not sure, I feel like that may not happen, but I am very well aware that we are going to see Boston win over Cavs because they are a better team.
I know that Celtics is truly a good team but look at the other side of the fence, teams there are much more competitive and better to be honest.

Let's assume that they make it to the finals but who are they going to face with these four teams?

Nuggets

Timberwolves

Thunders

Mavericks

Aside from that, the other teams on the east, Pacers and Knicks.

Too many tough teams for them to face and whichever is, all of these are good teams on this 2nd round.

The thing about them is that they have some good players, sometimes some of them do not play that well but they do have good players, but more importantly because these players played well together for so long, they are aware how and who could play like what, and the coach is aware how he should be playing the team as well. This is why I do not think that there is anything to be shocked about anymore, it is what it is and we should be basically considering this as a way for Boston to win, they are more established.

Dominican Mitchell really came through for the Cavs. That guy has another gear when it comes to the playoffs. If he were a couple inches taller… I wonder where he’ll end up next year.

If the Cavs didn't win that game 7, for sure, Donovan Mitchell will surely be leaving the Cavs in free agency, but good for them, they win the game and they'll be facing the Celtics for the 2nd round matchup, and for this, I can see the Celtics winning this easily. I am not saying that the Cavs aren't that good, but the Celtics are just more talented, and the only problem for them is that they tend to choke some games, but I think it won't be happening here early in the playoffs. If the Cavs get ever beaten by the Celtics, it is a sad moment for Donovan. Dude can't get past the 2nd round all of the years he's been playing. So you might really see Donovan leaving the Cavs. What team do you think should pursue Donovan this offseason?

Autocorrect. lol. Im not sure what team should get him. His size is honestly a pretty big drawback but he’s an amazing playoff competitor. I think maybe a team like Miami or Philly.

Looking forward to seeing game 2 between Denver and Minnesota tonight…

Cavalleirs are a much better team than Orlando Magic and they deserve to be in the next round, they need to fix some things to be more reliable but in the end they have really good players who can bring some good points ine very match.

Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell can be a super play.

But who's going to be your series winner on them? I bet most are going to be with the Celtics.

You bet it is because their hunger for a championship with their current rosters is far more serious than we imagine because this might be their last if they somehow choke in this series or the next one, every game for the Boston Celtics is crucial and they don't give their opponent any chance to advance in front of them, that's why when they lose to Heat everything was quickly change and adjusted to make them a dominance team once again and easily wins the series. I think the same scenario might not happen against the Cavs since they have the right players to counter them but the Celtics experience is way better than the Cavs.

Experience wise, the Celtics have it and they have the best season so far. However, you can't count the Cavaliers out as they are beginning to get healthy, in their line up, I think on the crucial players it was only Allen that was missing but if he comes back soon, this will be a very great series with no excuses from both teams. Yes, the Celtics have Tatum and Brown as their top scorers, but Mitchell alone can counter that, I mean if no one could stop Mitchell, the Celtics are still at risk of losing a game.

Minnesota Timberwolves is strong. That's some aggressive performance from the Antman, Anthony Edwards. I thought the Nuggets could at least come back in the 4th but Edwards just ran through all of them to put the dagger and steal the win at Denver home.

Now the big question. What adjustments will the Nuggets make? With Edwards scoring 43 points who will they put to defend him in Game 2? Because that game will be crucial and they don't want the Timberwolves to steal one more at their home. I think Peyton Watson is a good match for him. He has the speed and the length that can block shots but that also means someone's minutes will be sacrificed. Maybe MPJ or Gordon.
Gordon has only 3 rebounds today, that's not the number that I want to see because that ain't recipe for a win.
The thing is Nuggets have to get better on defense and also offense. Nuggets couldn't reach 100 points in their home court. On such an important game. And there is Anthony Edwards of course. In the first game he was not afraid to go inside, he was more careful than ever to take forced shots. On top of naz reid's offensive contribution and the team's overall defensive contribution, he led his team to victory with 43 points. It was amazing. He is the only reason why I see the nuggets-timberwolves matchup as the early finals of the west. Unless something ridiculous happens, the celtics will win in the east. After the first game, I believe edwards will eliminate the nuggets. The real question is how he will do against the celtics. At the age of 22, if he gets his first ring, there will be a lot of talk about the future.

Still far from concluding the finals, I guess one series at a time, Boston as you mentioned have that advantage against those 3 squads who manage to move to the semis as they got the experienced though I guess it will be a tough final in the East as both Pacers and Knicks got that determinations to win, it's been a long time since these two squads manage to move forward and really aiming to comeback and have that chance for the season finals and if possible to win a title.

Boston aren't that solid IMO, so I think the Cavaliers here has a chance of winning the series. Seems like everyone is still so hype with Boston, yes, they have a good record this season but this is playoffs, and many times we witness how they choke, so it could also happen in this series.

This season, they met 3 times and Boston have 2-1 lead in that series.

Dec 14, '23   BOS    116 - 107
Dec 12, '23   BOS    120 - 113

It's just a signle digit win but  in game 1 the Celtics are -11. I know they are fresh compared to the Cavaliers that just recently concluded its series, but currrent active roster of the cavaliers won't give up easily, they proved that on their game 7 come back win.
Both teams have something that's lacking or at least might affect them negatively.

You said it already that Boston chokes in close games because they don't have somebody that can be relied on in clutch moments. As for Cleveland, relying solely on Mitchell on offense isn't sustainable. It's like we are seeing a Lebron James 2.0 when he carried his whole team in the NBA Finals and his teammates literally aren't having that much impact. That's what's happening now again in Cleveland. I don't think that that strategy of relying on one player in offense will work in the playoffs.

The Celtics have a long break after winning against the Heat in 5 games. On the other hand, the Cavaliers just won against the Magic in hard-fought 7 game series and only has a few days to rest. With how convincing they won against the Heat, I believe that the momentum that they built will retain when they fact the Cavaliers therefore, I think they will win on this game. How many games? I will not be surprised if this will end up in 5 games, but the most realistic is 6. I don't see it going into 7 games. Cheesy

We can see that the Celtics really is the better team here, however, I would be a fool if I will not bet on the Cavaliers with that very enticing series odds. I respect the Celtics, they are the number 1 team for a reason, but since they haven't win a championship yet, I think the Cavaliers have a good chance to beating them even if Mitchell have to carry the team every game.

Hopefully Mitchell will stay healthy though, because without him, this team would be the same as the Miami Heat that the Celtics have dispatch in 5.

I would be so happy if this series will turned out to be another upset like what the Celtics have experience last season, but that one was in the ECF.

Anyway, good luck mate, may the better team will win.  Smiley

Mitchell  has been trying hard to be in the NBA finals when he was still with the Utah Jazz. I think he has a better team now, a good defensive team with great interior defense, so I think they have a shot at beating the heavy favorite Boston Celtics. We all know that Boston are on a mission but that doesn't mean they can easily beat the Cavaliers, if they could not swept the Butler less Miami, how much more this complete line up. Well, I'm hoping that Allen will return in the semi so he can help Mitchell on carrying the load.

It was a close first round series, I'm sure the Cavaliers have learned a lot, so I feel they are more matured and would make all the necessary adjustments against this top ranking opponent.

I would not conclude early because Boston also have weakness, but I feel the cavaliers are more deserving to face them as they have big lineup to give Boston some problem in the paint. Mitchell has been carrying a heavy load but just one game, win it and they'll get to the next level. So far in this series, either teams win their home teams so I would not deviate on that trend, instead I will just follow where the money is.

Boston only weakness is their choke potential when facing strong contender. Right now, No team in the east can give them that much pressure since all of the team that has a solid roster like Bucks and 76ers are already eliminated due to the absence of star players.

Current Boston with Porzingis as center feels like hell to beat by team like Cavs that only relying to Mitchell. I doubt that he can keep up against the pressure which the Boston players can give against them.

Boston may choke again in the NBA finals but not on any matches within EC.

True. Miami without Butler, Bucks without Giannis and Philly are all eliminated in the first round. The current remaining teams are a little inexperienced and Boston should be able to handle them. I expect Boston to win 4-0 or 4-1 against the Cavs.

I can smell Boston heading back to the finals once again. For now, I am rooting for Denver because the team has the championship experience and has a great line up. But if Denver lose to Minnesota then I think Boston gets their long awaited title this season.

Caris LeVert is the sparker. That's what I thought in 1st half when he came in, he will show something that will lift the spirits of the Cavs team. 15 bench points from him and he truly helped the Cavs to avoid the early blowout.
19 points (or is it 20?) led by the Magic and I saw how bad the Cavs are playing on the offensive end. Evan Mobley keeps on losing the ball underneath the rim and Garland was obviously feeling the pressure of a Game 7 playoffs.
But, Donovan Mitchell didn't give up on him, he gave him some inspirational words and when he hit the three-point shot from a second chance, that's when he saw some light and his team loved every bit of it.
Truly, there are a lot of stories behind that Orlando Magic versus Cleveland Cavaliers series.
Now, it will be Celtics versus Cavs, not much rest for Mitchell and I hope Allen will be back before that series ends.
