Lakers center Dwight Howard told today he has decided to play in restarted NBA season, join the team on Thursday in Orlando, and will donate his remaining game checks to his non-profit campaign Breathe Again.
So much talk about not continuing  with the season in fear of distracting the people from activism, and in the end all of them will play this season. This was expected really, players just like to run their mouth, but I guess they listened to those that said more could be done this way, that stopping with season all together.

This part is interesting, fact that he could win his first title certainly helped him change his opinion Cheesy
Quote
I feel like we have a great opportunity, the Lakers do, for winning the title this year," Howard said in an interview with CNN's Don Lemon. "I have an obligation. I have a contractual obligation. To my teammates, to my fans, the Lakers, the organization and everyone, but at the same time I also have an obligation to my family and my community.

In the end, definitely good news for the Lakers. While far away from his peak, Howard is still useful player, and will be needed.

Wow! LaMelo Ball goes to the warriors as the number 1 pick.

How is that?

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2020-nba-mock-draft-lamelo-ball-goes-no-1-as-warriors-pick-prospect-with-the-highest-upside/

I think it's a good help for the warriors to get back to the number 1 spot again, of course with both Curry and Thompson playing healthy.

Dwight gonna love the party at the bubble.

Also; he probably heard Kelly Oubre will be in the bubble. Grin

Great news, I hope Irving would also do the same, so all of them will participate.
Lakers needs him TBH, he has been doing really well this season, no injury so he is very vital to his team, especially that he has a good experience in the playoffs though he didn't win a championship. Maybe this time Howard with the help of Lebron and Davis, he will get his first championship.

I'm not surprised for this.
It must be the curse of the NBA 2K cover athletes.
Player just leaving after they become one of the cover of it.

I better hope the NBA 2K cover curse not going to happen on Dame. Cheesy

I didn't know that.
Like a curse of the jersey number 23?  Grin
Searching....
Holy crap!  Shocked It's on Google.

Quote
What is the NBA 2k curse?
The theory of the curse emerged when the community noticed several players were on the move from their respective teams around the time they were picked to be featured. For example, the video game company picked NBA star LeBron James to be on their cover in 2014.

Honestly, this is new to me. So these are the examples of why they alias it as a curse.  Grin

For example, the video game company picked NBA star LeBron James to be on their cover in 2014. That year, King James left the Miami Heat to go to back to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The same thing happened in 2018, when James once again graced the cover for the 2019 edition. This time, he went to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Similarly, Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder and joined Golden State Warriors in 2016. He had featured on the cover in 2015. Paul George, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis were on the covers in 2017, 2018, and 2020. They had requested trades, very close by to when they were on the cover.

And they fear that Damian is in line because of his recent tweets.
But I doubt that. He loves to compete.
Quote
“To leave, what did I invest all this time for just to leave, you know? If I go play with three other stars, I don’t think that many people would doubt that I could win it. We would win it, but what is the challenge or the fun in that?”

Although, who knows? They can be aggressive in pulling some strings.

Just the calculation of missed games of Zion vs games played of Ja Morant could easily tell which is the winner.  Cheesy
We will see next year if Zion deserves that respect and praise from Lebron.
Better, make the impossible. Win the games in this last 8 games then fight for the 8th seed of the playoffs.
That will be something to watch. A head to head between two big expectation rookies.
The bet doesn't even worth it honestly, I mean Ja Morant 100% will win it. But 2% profit? I mean if you are not putting a million dollars into it, I do not think that you are going to make much profit from it. Even if you put like 10 bitcoins into it which rarely any crypto sportsbook would accept that high, you are not going to win a ton of money relatively. Most places have that bet at 0.1 cap and that means you are going to profit 0.002 and even though it makes to bet on it for guaranteed income, it is just not entertaining at all.

There are tons of games where 1.4 odds are available, so I would assume it would be a lot smarter to wager on those ones, a team with 1.4 odds to win means they are going to basically win unless something major happens and that bet would gain you a good amount of money as well.

Yeah, not a good news as everyone is really getting exciting to see NBA again, this kind of reports will have a impact to the game again. And it seems more cases have been reported, I would say that it's really hard to see some games in this new norm. We just hope that everyone will be ok for the Bucks. It will have a big dent if it will be Giannis (hope not).

Until I see it with my own eyes that they finally resume the game again, right now I doubt that the game will actually be back after this terrible news. Almost every day we see other players added to the infected ones. I also doubt that the other players are really negative because some might only show some symptoms after a few games. this is so bad men, I really hope that everything will be back to normal again.

..because Heat is already guaranteed with a playoff spot and their standing now is currently at number 4, and even if they will drop at number 5, it still doesn't matter as in this playoffs, there will be no home court advantage.

And aside from no homecourt advantage, even they dropped at Number 5, they will still face the Number 4 in the playoffs.

The best thing to do is to just maintain the current spot even some of their key players might not play. However, Sixers are on the run too as "I think" they want to avoid facing the Boston Celtics in the first round. A good plan though as for me, they can handle either Heat or Pacers in the first round.

If he can be traded by only one between these three I think Lakers will be over the cap considering it's Damian Lillard we are speaking. I think it will be two/three-man trade for him, my hunch if he considers it.

You are right, surely it is a multi-player deal or might be a multi-team deal involving 2 or more teams.

Based on how the article is made, more of self-analysis by a writer with no chance of happening "for now" (well that's why it rumor lol). The Twitter post is for April Fools post and Lillard quoted that, maybe to relax the Blazers fans that he won't go elsewhere.

KNICKS maybe, but Lakers, NO!, who would the Lakers trade for him, LEBRON? lol.

It will be Green, KCP, and Kuzma which could give them a salary match according to the article.
I also prefer Knicks if it will be possible.

Time for CJ McCollum to shine, as long as there's Lillard, he will keep living in the shadow of Lillard.
Or worse. He will be a shadow of a new star that will be built by Portland or they could trade for someone else.
That's a huge chunk of cap space for the Blazers which could be offered to a star. Someone will bite it.

That's not in my mind now, I was thinking that CJ is already matured to take over the position of Lillard once he leaves the team.

Last season's CJ's performance was still fresh to me, he helped the Blazers beat the Nuggets in game 7 by dropping 37 points, that says a lot to me that he is a clutch player and the team can rely on him.

Don't get me wrong, I am also a fan of the guy.
Same as how I become a fan of Klay Thompson.
They are not really the number 2 guys. More like the other half of the number 1.
Without them, Dame and Steph will not be known as stars.
Consistency, defensive and offensive awareness. Both, almost have an equal kind of game.

It's just that the hype was given to the other players who showcase more entertainment rather than the silent one.

When Lebron praise a player, that means a player is exceptional and I can see that Zion will someday dominate in the NBA as long as he will keep himself healthy. But for ROY, it looks like we already know who will win based on the odds below.

The comparison is so far since Zion didn't start the season so I conclude JA will win on the ROY award, maybe on next year it's time for Zion to shine since he can prove he's worth since I'm sure he's healthy at that time. But I'm also doubting since this year rookies are promising so I conclude that they Zion will get a hard time for next year season to catch that award although there's a high expectation that he will get it by the next season.

If Lilllard really want to be traded, then we can expect the Blazers to be the new team. (either an improved team or a shitty team, which I doubt)
It says, he liked to be traded to the Lakers or the Knicks, I guess it's possible either of these teams, for the Lakers they definitely don't want to trade both Lebron and Davis, but maybe a bunch of bench warmers and some role players in return, who knows, but only if Blazers would agree knowing how valuable Lillard is based on his salary.

Currently number 21 in the list for the highest paid players this season.

Milwaukee Bucks latest NBA team to close practice facility following positive coronavirus test, per report

Quote
The Milwaukee Bucks are the latest NBA team to close their practice facility after an unnamed player tested positive for COVID-19, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Bucks plan to keep their facility closed for workouts until the team leaves for the Orlando "bubble" on Thursday. The Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets have also all closed facilities due to positive tests.

Hopefully Not Giannis. Cry Cry

Not a good news again, looks like everyday there's a new cases being reported, as the resumption of season is approaching, I hope these players will be able to recover soon so they'll be able to participate in the playoffs at least.

It's not Giannis for sure, I don't think they'll hide that from the public as Giannis is very popular and the MVP of the NBA.

STANDINGS - https://www.espn.com/nba/standings

Actually the competition in the number 8 spot was more crucial in the West than in the East.
More like a tough spot for the remaining teams on the West, remember there were only 8 games remained to get that spot for the playoffs and I think those 6 with low wins will really have difficulty to clinch it. With teams who have few players especially there stars not to be able to play it will be tougher for them. It's exciting to watch now even on just the start of the scrimmage, I can't really wait to see it.

We are not sure because they don't reveal the name, but let's hope it's not him as probably it could affect the team even if he can come back in the playoffs but the amount of time he will missed might be a factor that would affect his performance in the playoffs.

Report: Kings Close Facility After Positive COVID-19 Test in Traveling Party

Quote
The Sacramento Kings have reportedly closed their practice facility after a member of their traveling party tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Per that report, the practice facility "is not expected to reopen before the team departs for Orlando on Wednesday."

Maybe these teams will just resume their practice in Orlando, expecting more news related to the covid-19 testing of the teams.
Oh crap!
This is one of the problems.
They will need to check everyone including other members outside the team then run another test if proven positive.
Just to avoid another mess if someone slips away.

Are they brewing something again?  Grin
