This is something really enormous for New Orleans.
When was the last time they went to the playoffs?
Oh it was just 2018. I forgot they got Anthony Davis back then. So confused now with a lot of trades. They even got until conference Finals against GSW.

And looks like no playoff appearance for them now. I even offer a bet on it but unfortunately, no one accepts it.

Also, another year again to Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball without playoffs.

J.J Redick will surely disappointed at this. He never missed playoffs for 13 seasons and even throw a joke at Zion not to screw his playoffs streak lol.

Lonzo ball has only played a couple of years so it's not like he has missed the playoffs for a decade.  They arent completely out of it with a decent portion of the season left.  But they wont compete with the big boys just yet they need some of these young guys to get more consistent and keep zion healthy.

Zion surprised me on that last quarter and it almost took them on a win. If ever that's happened, a big name ZION will spread all over the news. He just exploded in the last quarter and he is really nailing that shot. Although to what I noticed, those three-pointers made by Zion aren't guarded properly so I blame Spurs here for their poor defense. But in the end, they still managed to escape that rally by the Pelicans.

Noticed also the passing skills of Lonzo Ball. That's his main forte' even back on Lakers.

If you notice the replay you'll see that their defense against Zion isn't really what you normally see on Coach Pop's playbook, usually players like him won't be left unguarded. They might played differently against him either because they don't want to be the team who will re-injure Williamson or they just want him to get a good NBA debut of his rookie career. Other things I have notice is that Williamson isn't driving that much to the basket and he wants to spot up a shot as fast as he can, he might still be worried about his injury and doesn't want to be careless as well.

They left him open because they wanted him to shoot from the outside.  In the nba you have to prove you can hit an outside shot, driving is his bread and butter he wasnt a prolific 3 point shooter at duke.  If you play hard up tight he will blow by you, they were baiting him into shooting, only it backfired because he drained them.

I think Washington can win, it will be routine for the Lakers, Luke Doncic beats Portland on the way, I think it will be the most interesting game, while the Milwaukee Bukcs will overtake the Hornets.

What really shocked me is that, Spurs have been playing amazingly in the last 10-15 games but all their losses came from not being able to close out games, watch the last 10 minutes of last nights game and you will see that they actually found ways to score no matter how hard it got, if Spurs can actually close out games like this for the rest of the year I think 7th spot is not really out of question just yet.

Right now they are back on 8th seed, it is really a huge fight between Memphis, spurs and even Portland for a while there, so all 3 teams trying their best to get that 8th seed and be in playoffs but at the same time only one of them can get in. I can't wait to see how Pop reacts to their last minutes this time around and if he will change anything to keep this up. Playing Derozan at PF was really a marginal decision but it looks like it is actually working out for them.

Sure he will be a good player as long as he stays healthy but I am also scared dude will be expected to be a great scorer from everywhere of the court.

It is pretty much expected from every star to score from everywhere in the court. That is how the game is evolving. It is not enough for a star to just being dominant inside the paint, they need to have outside shooting as well. If they don't evolve their game, they will be shutdown come playoffs.

I am really scared for Zion after this performence. Maybe this was just an outlier and he normally doesn't play like this, maybe dude will just play more of a charles barkley type of game where he is just grabbing rebounds and scoring dunks? I mean we all can see that he can shoot threes now, however just because of this game doesn't mean he has talents like curry to shoot threes, nobody should increase their expectations of him so suddenly after just one game. Sure he will be a good player as long as he stays healthy but I am also scared dude will be expected to be a great scorer from everywhere of the court.

It was the first game in NBA. You should watch his plays from last season he was in Duke Blue Devils: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlSqCaJ1MGc. He is no joke. He was NBA first draft pick 2019. He is still has lot to go through but showing such signs at debut is promising.

Excited to see how he performs in next.

Here's some highlights of Zion Williamson NBA Debut: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=115173626513645

He scored 17 points straight in the 4th quarter!
He's still in recovery mode. Was given a limited time to play the game. With that "limited time" he was given, he still showed promise. He even doubled Ben Simmons' three point field goal in his whole career with just 86 seconds. Ben Simmons was 2-22 FG and Zion got 4-4 from downtown that game.

Losses are a normal part of sport. I had a feeling that pelicans would lose this game because they were going up against a red hot spurs team. A lot of people under value how good Spurs actually are. Zion and the Pelicans will gel together though, it might take around 10 - 15 games for this to happen though. I do not know if Zion will be seeing the play offs this year, but it would be really fun to see him compete in the playoffs.

What a game to make a debit after coming back from knee injury. He kept his composure and scored some good and sweet 3 pointers. Out of 22 , 17 came from that quarter...wow what an impact. Though they lost it but Williamson getting back will boost Pelicans from hereon.

That's right, even with loss Williamson will get his composure going to the next game he would play. Even with limited minutes, he played monster game against a renowned team like the Spurs.

Yes, New Orleans might now be talking a lot about him.
They will gain a lot of audience starting now.
Just thinking that there could be a chance for a playoffs game will make you cheer for them and even go watch it live.

They tried to make a comeback in the 4th quarter but they were short.
Z. Williamson scored 22 points in just 18 minutes, I think that's awesome, more games like this and he will get his full confidence back.

For those who are following along Zion currently only has 2 points 3 rebounds and he might not play much more
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/4395628/zion-williamson
Yep, he had bad start, first 3 quarters only 5 points and then in last quarter 17 points , 4/4 for 3 pts in that period. If he wasn't on restricted minutes he would score way more. I might be wrong, but it  seems to me like he lost a bit of weight. That would definitely be a good thing for him, to reduce chance for injuries.

He actually had a good NBA debut. 22 pts 7Reb 3 Ast in 18 Minutes. That is already a good conversion for a man who had been out for a couple of months. He will surely improve his stats as the season progress. Sadly, they did not get the win but they showed a good 4th quarter game.
Yes but but when I made this post it was at the haflway point in the game and Zion only had 2 points, 3 rebounds
Many people were concerned about this if you made a prop bet for over 13.5 points but in the end Zion played up to his full potential
Not bad only 3 rebounds away from a Double=Double

Great day for the Pelicans indeed.

They just saw the glimpse of the future there.
It might not be that much play time for him but it ain't over. It is just the start.

They may be thinking of new plays right now.
Lonzo Ball will be gaining higher stats after this. Alley-oops, three pointers getting open shots because of Zion penetrating the paint.
A streak is a must if they want a spot for the playoffs.

They are at the 12th spot with 17 wins but the 8th spot which is Spurs just got 20 wins.
There is still a chance.

Young Lakers core + Zion? Man, that seems really promising, even though they played only one match together. It's a shame that we had to wait for him that long but on the other side i think that he will make it up to us for the next 15 years.

Bro, that 4th quarter.

He is on fire on the 4th quarter. His teamates knows whats up and focussed their offense to him. Damn, back to back points, not just twos but also threes. He really is something, not a fan of him in the past but I think I would follow him from now on. It is just sad that he might not play every game

Same here, not a fan yet since he hasn't proved anything in the NBA, but definitely one of my favorite rookies, It's just sad he had a bad start with an injury in the NBA. This kid is a legit superstar, if you haven't heard of him before, he was a college superstar who had so much hype because of his explosiveness regardless of how much he weighs.
Anyway, I hope he'll have full recovery so we could see his full potential in the NBA.

I heard him first as an expected rookie superstar, I did not research him but seeing him in this game, he would really be a superstar.

It is just bad that the first news I read about him is about his injury. This team would be giving him enough time to recover and that also means lower time in the court. I know a lot of people are expecting something from him so he better focus on himself with his recovery.

I think you wrote this wrong, because Zion has accumulated a total of 22 point with 4/4 in three point range. I think the hype for this overall first pick isn't a joke and he proved it on a restricted minutes with 17points in the fourth quarter. Though his team lost to the Spurs but this made a good impression on Williamson's career.

Zion is something new in this league. Something extraordinary. I think that we are a true witnesses of the new big kiddo on the block.

4/4 at threes, he just scored points casually, like he even didn't care. And his movement, his swag, his feeling and the mojo. We've waited a long time for him but it was worth it.
Yah right, he seems to be not only hype but he really has the game in him. Right now I'm starting to like this guy after this one game with only a limited minute. He could be a big thing in the NBA in the future if he avoids injuries.
