Another news for NBA fans in india. NBA have a plan to launch a league in this country! https://sports.yahoo.com/nba-12-team-professional-league-india-140144744.html
i think India have a potentially market for NBA. because NBA is also popular in this country like cricket right?
Does NBA that popular in India? I don't know if it was because I haven't heard about India have focused in basketball in there sports.

It's still a young sport there. NBA started an academy back in India in 2017 according to the article and I can only assume that it's been gaining popularity since then. It also helps that one of the NBA team's owner (Sacramento) hails from Mumbai.
The league may be playing its first games in India on Thursday and Friday, but it has been promoting basketball initiatives in Mumbai since at least 2011, the same year games were broadcast live in the country. The NBA Academy India also opened in 2017.

I think NBA isnt as popular as cricket in that country, but I know some people who loves watching NBA. I have a friend from the internet and shes from India l, who really is a big fan and take note she's a girl, and she plays for the varsity team in her university.

Did you also remember that hardcore fan of Raptors, I think is from India too?

Yes, this is make sense. Kings match against Pacers could be judged by the NBA to consider making a league there. of course they consider is in terms of business, because if based on FIBA ranking India is ranked 74th far below the Philippines (31th). but it seems the Philippines is not a potentially good market for business.

Why do you say so? The Philippines has it's own version of NBA which is called PBA which stood the test of time. If I'm not mistaken it was established in the 70's. People there are die hard basketball fanatics.

Many NBA stars have traveled to the Philippines already. So I think the Philippines is more viable business wise if NBA wanted to expand.

How can you say so? Here in Philippines, NBA is very popular. In fact, in my own opinion when I was a teenager, NBA is more popular than PBA(Philippine league). How can you say that this country is bad for businesses? I remember when Gilas Pilipinas will fight against some NBA players, I think that was a sold out. Yet, the NBA players didn't play because of some unfinished papers. NBA didn't let players play in the Philippines that's why the visit of these players ended up playing for drills that brought dismay to Filipinos.

Y'all have to consider the fact that the Philippines doesn't need an NBA league like in India. This is not about the ranking of the two countries and not purely about business but the initiative of the NBA to further increase the popularity of the sport in a country dominated by cricket. Since there is already an NBA academy set up two years ago, the NBA league makes perfect sense.

Lebron may not be PG though, he played point forward once again but they had Rondo so Rondo will probably play make more than Lebron.

If Lebon will act as a PG, Rondo will be playing as the 2nd round unit of the Lakers, which makes them a dangerous team.
We know Lebron can fill any position he wants but based on my observation, he is also effective as a point guard since he can drive the ball and just pass either to davis or from its outside shooters.

He ain't a pure point guard in my opinion and it's pretty evident when you watch playoff games when he is the one carrying down the ball. He will always try to force plays if not his only option is not to pass the ball but the drive and score a point, the whole point of having a team is absent when he tries to play point guard in this situations. Just take a look on this one on how he tried to look for a play but he didn't notice that the ball was already rolling out of bounds, I mean would you really be confident enough to make him carry the ball when Rondo is around?

Yes with everything on the line I'd be fine with lebron taking the ball up.  He is not going to ever be an off the ball player.  Rondo will run some of the point but he wont be exclusively running it.  He will definately run it when lebron is sitting.  That's the way it will go down this year

And Rondo has to improve his shooting so he can also be a threat especially in the 3 point line.
Rondo shooting last season is not good, maybe because they are still into an adjustment period, but one whole season is already enough I guess and we might see some good improvement this season.

Dont think that will happen.  Ever since he has been on the celtics his shot has sucked.  His bread and butter is driving to the hole and either an inside shot or a kick out.  He is a mismatch when driving, his outside shot game will never be feared in the league.  His mechanics on his jumpshot is too broken to work consistently.

NBA is the most known basketball league in the world and sure it's a fact.

I remember when Gilas Pilipinas will fight against some NBA players, I think that was a sold out.
This is an exhibition match just like the usual fans would want to watch. They are buying tickets for their favorite NBA player and to see them face to face to watch that exhibition match. And I don't think that they'll take this kind of game as a serious game although it wasn't pursued after all.

I watched that crazy Boston Celtics fans cheer up when Tacko Fall enter the court on his first professional pre-season NBA game. Not just that, when he takes the ball for the first time for an offensive low-post play, fans gone wild again cheering for him.

For this height at 7 ft 6, we all know that these players will end up slow even at a young age. I'm impressed with this tall guy as he's not showing signs that he might become slower soon. I just hope his body will remain as it is for several seasons to come. This guy really worked hard on his NBA dream.

I watched taco play in college a decent amount.  He never really dominated in D-1 college ball because of his speed.  I dont think he is going to magically find it.  He might end up a specialty type player for 1 defensive possession or something but the up and down game for any amount of time isnt his future.

I think of that too that the NBA is not that popular in India but looks like it was changed after years and now began making sounds in that country.

According to the article, it was the Sacramento Kings owner, an Indian national, who started and push that agenda for years and now the fruit of his work is now being noticed by Indian NBA enthusiasts.

I think the upcoming game between Kings and Pacers in India is a market test as part of expanding in presence in the whole world. If it will become a success, I think the NBA will hold more games here in the future.

Looking at the current Indian national team, most of their player's height is impressive, with the tallest starting from 7'2, 6'11,6'8, etc.

yes i know. and India also has the same thing, BFI. but India doesn't seem to have a professional league like the Philippines yet. the choice now exists with the NBA. whether they want to build from scratch in India or collaborate with PBA. but it looks like the first choice makes more sense because PBA already has a good and professional league.

They dominated the Warriors but this is just a pre season, however, the way they played, they are so scary especially when Davis are getting that offensive rebound and will do a put back dump. I think I'm gonna put a little for them winning the NBA championship this season, they have a very tall line up and they are fast as well.

Put that bet early. Once Lakers established a good standing record during the first few weeks on the season you will never see an odds of 3 above again.

They are no longer scary because they no longer possess that same offensive firepower. Opposing teams are also familiar with their style of play.

With Durant and other key players out, we'll see if the new replacements can fill in those big shoes.

They are not as scary as before NOT because they lack now of offensive power. They are already a powerhouse team with a powerhouse talent even before Kevin Durant arrived and still have that offensive power.

What's make them look not scary to others anymore is because other West teams now improved their lineup unlike in previous seasons where Warriors is almost a favorites since we can't see any teams that can be matched them on those seasons.

I think a decent bet would be on a team from the east.  The west is so up in the air on who will come out of it I'd be weary of a bet on any of those teams.  In most years there are a coue of teams that can make it out, this year any of around 6 -7 teams can come out of the west.  Gonna be a fun year watching nba ball

Same goes with me.
I dont see them having the real effort to be one of the top 10. They just play it.
Havent even heard stories in that country for upcoming stars unlike other Asian countries.

GSW still have a chance to give other teams a good competition. Let us not forget the 2 time MVP is there and is still kicking good with a healthy body.
True. We know that fans doesn't have the right to play for the team, but they are the supporter of the team. Boo-ing enemy teams and screaming while the team is on the move to take the game, makes the players go on their beast mode to take over the game.

That one is correct.
That also just means they are being entertained by their team. GSW somehow made it happen to contribute a lot of money for their management. That way, they are also paid in good prices just to continue giving more entertainment.

Great, you nailed it.
Look at Charlotte. Even if they already have one of the best players in the league, it is like.. there is still no joy out there.
So for me, it wil;l not just always be players. It is how great the fans will cheer for them for their good plays and moves. Without the fans it will just like be a practice game.

GSW still have a chance to give other teams a good competition. Let us not forget the 2 time MVP is there and is still kicking good with a healthy body.
