Young players always have common problems, no matter who they are, even Lebron had that trouble even tough he was considered the best prospect ever. First of all they have a trouble on their second season, no matter how amazing you are in your second year it becomes a bit of a problem.

Normally, these kids do not play too many games a season until they are that old and all of a sudden they play +50 more games a year against superstars and harder conditions. Obviously, even tough first year is a challenge since they are young they barely go with it but on their second season the combined fatigue kills them. Also they do not respect opponents that are tanking.

In their minds teams like Knicks and bulls are tanking so they will be willing to lose that game but what they are missing is players are not tanking, teams are tanking by getting no good players but the players there still work tireless to be the best they can be and if you do not respect your opponent no NBA team will let you win.

Also closing games is difficult because clutch requires a bit of experience and during clutch times young players are a bit more shaking than the veteran ones. All of it will be gone soon I am sure but they need to still find a "system" like all great teams have. Also apparently Lonzo is out with a grade 3 tear which should be AT LEAST 1 month, probably more like 2 months. If I was Lakers I would rather wait it out and put him on extra leave so he can comeback better, not like they are going to win the ring this year, wouldn't matter if he is out all season.

I don't think harden plays well. In any case, yes he play good offense but to be able to rank above LeBron, he should also have to play defense.
It's your assessment that Harden don't plays well. There are players that are very effective to only one forte and just like Harden he's a very effective offense player but yes he's not into defense.

Lebron without doubt a very versatile player but let's just stop comparing these two players. They have their own strength and greatness as said Lebron is the modern king but he still losses, right? with their individual performances they always play good.

Lakers eventually lost to Rockets on overtime but that is fine, this is lakers that is missing Lebron and they still came very close to winning against Rockets who where conference finalists last year with just 1 game away from potential champions.
Lakers are +7 before the game, so it's a big upset if they were able to win the game.
Rockets really fought hard and they want to win this game at their home so they have it, but it was a close game in general.
This game although the Lakers loss, but they proven something and they are oozing confidence is now, and when Lebron is back, they are more dangerous.

The last shot of Eric Gordon that went in was the basic explaining of Lakers in recent years. They defended everyone amazingly, they were all over the court, they covered the pass lanes, as soon as Eric Gordon got the ball someone was right on him and everything defensively looked amazing and perfect. Then when he was shooting the person who was like ONE inch in front of him didn't even put his hands up. That is Lakers for you, do everything perfectly but at the last second instead of raising your arms and defending properly just let go of the shooter with a fear of fouling.
Gordon made it easy, Lakers needs to improve especially on closing games as that is the most important part of the games when games are close.
Rockets are full of good shooters but Gordon was already proven to be clutch as he made already a game winning shot for the Rockets in the past, Lakers should have put more pressure on him. (Maybe they still remember their last game in OKC when westbrook was fouled)

I watched the whole rockets vs lakers game last night until the end.
LA dominated through out the entire game but still lost.
Even with Zo Ball getting injured they were still playing well with Stephenson shooting those three pointers right from the first seconds of the third quarter. It looked like even with another one of their star players out they were going to show everyone they can play as a team and not need them as much the media puts it out to be.
Without Lebron, Rondo and now Ball, they are still a team that can beat you at home.
It took over time and another big show by Harden to put it away and it was only by two points.
Their next showdown is against Golden state which have won their last seven games.
So with them having so much confidence coming into this game there is a chance for the lakers to beat them tomorrow in LA.
It will be a really good matchup to watch and it being a holiday game.

Looks like LA lakers are a team killer on the road.
They beat OKC and are up 20 points against Houston on their own court at half time.
Harden can not hit his shots and had to sit off most of the second quarter because he was not producing any offense.
If LA can beat them then they are a team to content with Lebron coming back maybe soon.

Yes they are getting stronger and it went to overtime and they still lose. But to be that close against an offensive team it is still a great game for them.

I am in doubt though with the Lebron coming back.
They are getting a lot of good chemistry with this new form of team.
If I am Luke Walton, I will analyze first what will be the effect if Lebron is on the floor and if not. Will they still play the same way against OKC or they will be afraid to create shots just because Lebron is there.

I want them to stay the same and not rely with stars. They are the ones who should be the stars by now.

Well, they are showing that they can cope up with other good teams out there even though their star player is not on the court. They beat OKC on the road and ALMOST beat Rockets on the road too. Its just that Harden exploded again and gained his 19th (IIRC) straight 30+ point game. Ball is injured too which I hope is not will take a long time for him to recover.

But they didn't beat Houston, the game went into overtime and them fell short 138-134. Harden his usual self, but he did get a lot of support from Gordon, specially that three to sent the game into overtime.

Ball got injured though, that might chance the game because after the left, Houston takes over and it was a different ball game. Next for the Lakers is GSW on Monday.
Yeah right, houston was able to escape this in overtime, harden and gordon have a great game almost 50 again for harden, 48 points to be exact a lots of talk about this guy and he's continue showing why he deserve the respect coming from those who believes in him, houston became a solid team again after drexler and olajuwon as harden carrying the team together with the rest of his team mates.

Anyone watch Cousins debut as GSW against the Clippers? He chip in 14 points including 3 out of 4 shooting at the three point line but fouled out as the Warriors beat Clippers 112-94. He looks healthy as well. They're really the team to beat right now.

They are also in a roll winning their 7 straight games. And just look at their starting five, all previous all-star player. That's sick!!!
They completed the big 5 now hahaha, but seriously, adding Cousins gives them a lots of space and ball rotations inside, they are now both deadlier from outside and inside attacks, this preview of him makes them more enjoyable to watch as they distributed the ball well and they also have a good blends both from offense and defense.
They definitely a harder team to beat specially that the Boogie is already getting into the line up and rotation. He didn't spend lots of minutes though, but he already contributed to the team that makes this GSW very difficult to beat because of so many options to score specially with the big 5 (I did not say unbeatable).

I think James Harden is a very overrated player.  First off he barely gives any effort on defense, there are many clips of him just letting players blow by him without doing anything.  Referees are giving him too many foul calls and it has gotten to a point where he plays to draw fouls pretty much.  He likes to get intertwined with other players and he gets his foul shots 9/.1- times, very unfair.

Let me disagree with you. James Harden is one of the greatest players in NBA and I really believe that he deserves a ring in his career. Indeed, he is not very productive in the defensive part but he gives everything in attacking. In the end, he is a human being, he is not a machine! Does Steph Curry give any effort in the defense? I don't think so...

The thing that I don't like is that he needs to take all the efforts of the team. I would like to see another player in Rockets that contributes the same with Harden in order to give him some rest and let him perform even more better.

It still boils down to championship ring in my opinion. You can't be one of the greatest if you can't even deliver 1 ring to your team. Jordan is a scoring machine during his prime but play very very good defense same as Kobe and Lebron. He can be remember as one of the greatest scorer we have seen  but he needs to bring that ring in the next 2-3 years in Houston to be in the argument for the GOAT in this era.

Maybe but he proven himself worthy to be the leader of the Rockets, AFAIR, it was Jerymy Lin and James harden who started during the rebuilding but Lin was inconsistent that's why he was traded if I'm correct to the other team. Now, it's harden's team and though they did not win the championship but the level of success the Rockets are going right now is impressive, main reason why Harden sign with a good salary for his extension.

.. snip ..

They either play elite or they suck big time, they lost to bulls for Christ sake, how do you lose to Knicks, Cavs and bulls but than play against OKC and win ? It is hard to bet on them lately so I am going to refrain having them on my parlay for a long time until Lebron comes back.
Weird isn't it. When you expect them to beat lowly teams, they lost and when no one expect them to win against the highly touted them like OKC, they rise to the occasion. So we can only speculate that they are still searching and trying to be consistent without Lebron James in their line up.
I watched them play against the Bulls and it seems they watch what the other team does and adjust their play for it.
Just like Chicago. They can't score very many points if their shooting is off so LA does the same. They don't try and push for the score running up and down the court like the GSW or Houston do in their games.
Atleast this is what the announcer tried to explain what their play is like without Lebron in the lineup.

You can blame westbrook all you want on offense but normally OKC is a great defensive team whereas Lakers found a way to score even if we take away the win from them because westbrook sucked on offense, it is still half their success on offensive side. There has been a big talk on how Kyrie called Lebron and talked about how he was the young guy once and took what was given to him granted and now sees how the young guys he plays with is doing the same and whatever.

I have watched a clip of inside the nba and Charles literally told all what I believed, Kenny as well. If you are going around telling people you are the leader, you are not the leader. You need to BE the leader not tell people you are. If you tell people you are the leader then probably you are not, others have to tell you that you are the leader. Lebron never went out and said he was the leader of a team but no matter which team he was on he was the leader.
