Oh really? Now they are at 1-3, how about that. It's all a matter of pacing on how to jel with his teammates and not about any promises. I also think the Lakers is not aiming for a championship this year but the pride of James to be at that level is still there. So let's see what he can bring to the table because it is still to early to say what they are capable of doing.
Well, Indeed they won against the "SUNS!", though win is a win. Lebron may not be aiming for the championship, but the management always do.
Lebron is always aiming for that championship trophy because that is a player's dream to hug that trophy but he need a lot of help in doing so. The good thing for James this season is that the expectation for him to reach the finals is a little bit low and that seems to lessen the load that he carries.

Like I said, I don't really understand why people are all-eyes to Lakers. There are other teams to watch too.
I think it has something to do with Lakers being one of the most popular basketball teams in the world. Globally they are successful as it has brought many fans around the world because of their team's accomplishments. Them being popular globally will make them the most talk about team in the world and even in the internet including this forum. Just by typing Los Angeles Lakers in Facebook you will see dozens of fan pages and groups centered around them, it wouldn't be a surprised that some of this fans are around here as well.

Kobe was just mocking man, if you watched the full video he says no right afterwards, it's Jimmy Kimmel, that is a silly having fun interview. Kobe won't return no matter what, he already built himself a life after retirement, dude even won a freaking oscar (albeit could be really because he is Kobe and not because the short movie deserved an oscar). I think Kobe is not even that much in the Lakers world at all, he probably watches them but that is about it.
You are right Kobe won't chase another ring anymore and he won't win another one considering that the Lakers team now is really just built around Lebron. Kobe Bryant is already busy doing things regarding his new hobby/job which is investing and I don't think he can now manage doing both especially when his mind is on his investments. Let us not forget that his reason for his retirement is because his body cannot take it anymore and he made that clear in his retirement letter.

Anyway Lakers got their win, as is tradition from suns, even Lebron didn't played too much because almost half of the game was garbage time, good thing is this year young players seems to be getting more attention and getting much better stats and games whereas they are going to still be a playoff team.

Okay, should we change the thread name to LA Lakers updates and Lebron James discussion?  Grin

I think for the meantime yes.. Smiley As long as there is a pure hater and pure fan here of Lakers or should I say Lebron, this will be a non-sensestop discussion. Like I said, I don't really understand why people are all-eyes to Lakers. There are other teams to watch too.

There are lots of happenings in the league now that is not being discussed here even how good it is because of that LeBron hype. Maybe because the only team they know is Lakers, Warriors, Rockets etc.. lol.

Examples are:

a) Blake Griffin's 50 points (it's now rare to see these days a power forward making a big production like that because they are also focus on defense.)

b) Nikola Jokic'swonderful record of  posting a triple-double with 30 or more points without missing a field goal. That's insane.

c) Steph Curry's set a new record of getting the Rank 5th in 3-point scoring leaders. And I think he will nailed the 1st Rank soon if he continue to play like that.

and many more......

The Lakers badly need a win now
Bashers are making fun of him now and there's a joke that has been rotating on social media.

Kobe Bryant jokes that he would come out of retirement if the Lakers start 0-5
Kobe Bryant jokes he will return to the Lakers if they start 0-5

They need seriously our Kobe!  Grin
Well, Kobe will not return because they won against Suns today. Its their first win and Cavs-turn-Lakers fans now are happy because Lebron got his first win already in LA.

I'm not saying that the Lakers are not a good team but for me, I think they cannot compete with the other all star teams like Warriors or Rockets. They are too overrated and we see that most of their players are young and inexperienced. This is my opinion only Smiley and I wish the Lakers will go to playoffs (I think they will yeah) Cheesy/

Well a lot of teams have bounced back strong from an even worse start. It's just a few games in for this season and i'm pretty sure the lakers will have a good run one time or another. Hell that lineup would seriously contend for a good playoff spot if they can get their groove. Most of us are laughing at them now but wait til mid season at least.

Golden States dominates the court again.
Steph Curry creating another rain of three points. 51 points and congratulations to their win.

Donovan Mitchell putting a great show at Houston with 38 points. Wow those exhibition lay ups are really something. It is like he can have lunch in the air and will still have time to shoot the ball.

Houston though, trading Ariza might have put a hole at their defense. I see not much of defense from Houston. It is all offense. Well, that is how Mike D'Antoni is.

Well, Indeed they won against the "SUNS!", though win is a win. Lebron may not be aiming for the championship, but the management always do.

I don't think that any player will not be aiming for the championship. I mean that is the reason why they play in certain reason. Also, I don't think that there are other reasons to play the NBA but to win the championship right? If they don't aim for the championship, they what are they aiming? Fame? to be the Best? If they want to be famous and to be called the "best" player or team of that certain season, they should be able to take the championship or even join or compete for the conference finals.

You are generalizing it to all players mate. I think what he meant is that, LeBron "MIGHT" not be aiming aggressively for championship this time "BUT" he will do his best in every game as he mentioned in an interview upon accepting the deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron can just go to Sixers or any other contender team if he is really eager to get the trophy this season. My guess is, who knows some preparations are now being discussed on the table about the Lakers' target in the next free agency and that will be the time they will catch the trophy. LeBron's presence in the Lakers as part of the first plan will be able to attract big names in the next free agency + the possible max contract.

But again, it doesn't mean he will not do his best to became a Lakers champion this season. If they ended up there then good, if not then fine. He will just continue to play at his best.

Just my speculation though. Feel free to criticized it.

Of course, Lakers is still as deadly as what we think they are. With LeBron on their line up, it's hard to tell when they are gonna rally their wins and will start tommorow against the suns.
LA Lakers is not deadly as what you think right now because Lebron James has no pressure in his game as he has not promised to bring championship to the Lakers unlike with his stint with the Cavaliers wherein he worked hard to fulfill his promise.

The Lakers badly need a win now, the line open at -3 I guess and closes at -5.5, I guess the public is pushing this line and I also
think they will have a win tonight because of the line movement. Worst team against another worst team but the Lakers have Lebron, so Lakers has an edge.

The the Lakers have Lebron, the reason why they will lost! lol Tonight, someone will be homeless. haha

What is happening to Lebron and his team now? Ever since he decided to sign for LA Lakers, there is a lot of people that is bashing and supporting him in his decision and this is what's happening.

Streak loss for the king, and a brawl adding to that. Saying these, I don't see that Lebron and CP3 that close, Lebron hold CP3 on that brawl and I think he made him calm down there, but not really. Never thought they are that close and yeah, Lebron himself, the King are having a backlash there for defending CP3 there instead of his teammates.

Lebron won the game easily, and I think a lot of people won big bucks because they were able to dominate the game.
Their next game is tougher because they will face the number 1 team in the West which is the Denver Nuggets, this one, I don't think Lebron can still survive.

DeRozan, DeRozan.

Whew. As I told here before this guy will start changing his gameplay when he goes to Spurs.

After the unexpected trade, Im sure he thinks even a bit that he want to show the Raptors management what they lose. But on the other hand, Kawhi Leonard is also doing great for the Raptors. Generally, they are professional and just doing their respective role to the team.

Looks like he is now having a good chemistry with the Spurs. This will get better.

Agree. I believed he easily adjusted to Pop' system because that's also the usual system he used to play back in Toronto Raptors. And since DeRozan holds the sole position of what Leonard left, the adjustment have been made easy.

So you did notice that too.

As I thought different coach could make you better if you just absorb it.
I dont really know why Kawai want out if Pops is that good in coaching and making new players feel like their home. Add up he can make you a better player.
(maybe it is really the other players whom he got a problem)

But it is all good. He looks like a good leader at Toronto now.

Lebron was never really a great free throw shooter anyway and if you remember during the 2016 year Cavs became champions Lebron was fouled by Draymond during the last seconds while he was going for a dunk, dude hit 1/2 there too.

But, just because Lebron was never really a great free throw shooter it doesn't really take away from how amazing he is and the real true potential of the question "is he the greatest player that ever played", he might be, he may not be, we will never know since its a subjective term and doesn't have a correct data for it however we can clearly see he deserves the question at least and just because he lacks free throws doesn't take away from that, Shaq was the most dominant player to ever play and he never really hit his free throws at all, people fouled him intentionally so he could miss his shots instead of dunking on them. That didn't made Shaq a bad player did it ? No. Lebron hits much better than Shaq so it should not matter neither.
