Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki confirmed his retirement from the NBA on Tuesday, April 9, calling time on a 21-season career that saw him become the greatest European player ever to grace the league.

Another legend leaves the pitch and now it is time for young stars to shine. Thank you Dirk for the amazing moments you have offered us.

Oh thank God he is going to retire. I thought he is going to take one more year since he is near creating a new all time scoring record.
I am just glad he is not just for numbers.
He will always be the star of Mavericks. There is no doubt about that.
He made a great championship game that will never be forgotten.
I watched that all and tears still fell in my eye as I watch it again.
I need a copy of his walk from just being a tall thin player into being a great shooter.

Yes, I still remember how he carried the team against Miami's big three and won the championship. I think they are the third seed that time behind, San Antonio and defeated the second seed LA Lakers (4-0). Surely he will be missed specially that long stride of his and his patented one leg shot.

The guy has always been oblivious the numbers. Dirk sees only winning. His achievements come naturally because he's trying to win every single game. Dirk and dwade gone in the same year. How time flies. Two of the greatest players to play the game and probably two of the classiest ever!

Anyone think the Pistons can beat the Knicks to nab the final place in the eastern playoffs?

Given their current 3-7 slump and the possibility of Griffin missing out I'm not confident in Detroit, even if NY are currently bottom of the conference with a 3-7 record of their own in the last 10 games.

My money is on the Hornets stepping up to take their spot if the Pistons lose, but they'll need to beat the Magic in what should be a close-fought game.

I'm going with:

- New York Knicks +9.5 (1.90)
- Charlotte Hornets -3.5 (2.19)

He is fulfilled as a player, he got a championship and he introduce their kind of basketball in the NBA.
Now, it's time for the young star and I have my favorite young stars that will be Dirk like in the future, they are Luka and big Porzi.

Luka and porzi are both good players in their respective positions but saying that they are more like Dirk is a bit exaggerating. Dirk has his own legacy and both young players you mentioned will make their own.

I would put lebron as the greatest player of all time.  Jordan is overrated because of his 6 championships.  Lebron never played with a player as good as Scottie Pippen.  James is a better overall player than Jordan and is a much better athlete as well.
It is your opinion and that is the way you saw it but i saw the opposite. Players like Pippen, Grant, Paxson, Cartwright transformed into a good player because of MJ and he played whoever his teammates would be unlike Lebron who chooses players to play alongside with him. I doubt that he could have that championship ring if he remain in Cleveland.

OKC vs Thunder, the duel of MVP candidates, this game WB made another triple double but it was PG who give them a win in the last seconds.
His cold blooded 3 points give them a go head score, it was a come from behind win by the OKC that has been trailing all throughout the game.
The 4th quarter was only the the quarter OKC won.

Do you mean OKC vs Houston?

Yes, the score is 112-111 for OKC. It's the usual Westbrook with another triple double performance and hitting 3's, but it was George three that put the dagger on the hearts of Houston fans. They were trailing 14 points in the fourth but it looks like Houston choke again. James Harden scored 29 and Chris Paul with 24.

Yeah sorry, I got confused, that's what I meant, I made myself obvious that I'm a thunder fan. LOL
Indeed it was the clutch man PG that make this come back a success.

Lol, no problem mate, maybe you just got excited seeing Paul George making that big 3's to steal the game from Houston.

But why should we have a GOAT debate in the first place? How important it is?
It's because NBA media does not have any topic lol. I agree on your opinion that all of us have different perspective on every player. That's why we're bias on somebody. Don't tell me you don't have any favorite player. And maybe, that player could be your vote on GOAT.

There's always been GOAT debate in any sports not just basketball. Probably its because of the current MVP race that we have right now, it's too close and media needed to add a little sauce on the discussion, so to speak.

It will create a never ending conversation or debate if we are talking about our GOAT player because there is no complete reference
to determine which is better of the players we are debating. Just continue to be bias and love our favorite player as that what makes us love the NBA.

Houston Rockets should have won this game, but they lost it due to their carelessness. In the end, the better team cohesion worked out for Oklahoma City Thunder. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Rockets were ahead on points (93-80). But Thunder smashed them during the fourth quarter (32-18), with Paul George and Russell Westbrook destroying the Rockets.

Everyone has a different opinion about think and it's pretty hard to compare both of them since they have never played together in the same league. Jordan played in a different period, with different players, team and rules and that's why it's extremely hard to say which one is the best.

Yeah I agree. Some of us haven't seen Jordan played or even Magic. But MJ's name is always in the discussion because of how he brought championship to Chicago in the 90's with such a team. James era though was different, no more Bad Boys from Detroit and no hard and physical contact. So it's really hard to compare them, imho.
The competitions is between pride and paychecks, they've played with different era and they haven't got the chance playing against each others, young generations have it's own points of view while old age fans will generalized what have they've seen from the current scenarios.

It's fans interpretations of this arguments about being a GOAT so we are all open for our observations and assessments.

I rarely participated or involved in a GOAT discussion since honestly, it's not making sense to me.

But why should we have a GOAT debate in the first place? How important it is?

Who's the GOAT is based on own people's view. Meaning not in general since every people have different standards.

These players are played on different era, different competition, different styles, different roles, different everything etc. Jordan itself stated that no such thing as GOAT being him as there are other top players he doesn't have a chance to met on the court.
You cant really stop people on discussing with that GOAT thing.I agree into your points that there's no point on arguing regarding about such matter yet we do have
our own favorites. Comparing is inevitable but as said these players do play in different era and for sure we would see another GOAT thing on next 5 years.  Cool
