For Dallas Mavericks fans: (What do you think? Competitive now? Smiley ) Hope they reached playoffs again even at 8th spot. Cheesy

PG: Dennis Smith Jr.
SG: Luka Doncic
SF: Harrison Barnes
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (if re-signs) (announcement just made last April but no signing as of now)
C: DeAndre Jordan

Bench: Seth Curry, Wesley Matthews, JJ Barea, Nerlens Noel, Dwight Powell, Yogi Ferrell.
I think they are a competitive team with this line up but to reach the playoffs, I don't think so. There are no All star player and some of their players are underrated and too young. I think if they can reach the playoffs, they will be in 7th or 8th but lets see in the next season. Happy they got Jordan for a 1 year deal already. Wish they find a good ball handler too. Better than Dennis Smith Jr.

Let us see. Maybe Dirk could become a monster again before he retires.  Grin
I doubt it that he'll remain as a monster or can play that way as he did before.

He's going to retire soon and that's why he's no longer capable of playing that way. We all like him as a legend for staying long with Mavs just like Kobe did.

Maybe we can see at least one game wherein Dirk will score 50++ points before winding down his career with the Mavs. He is really one of the early epitome of a EU players, tall lanky guy, but can dribble and shoot 3's. Lol. I'm sure that he will be given respect and tribute one they hang his jersey. I still have his jersey (together with Vince Carter's Toronto days) hehehhe I bought when I traveled in the States early 00's. Damn, that was long time ago.

As a Kings fan I was happy when I read this:

"The Sacramento Kings signed Chicago Bulls restricted free agent guard Zach LaVine to a four-year, $78 million offer sheet, sources told The Undefeated's Marc Spears. The Bulls have two days to match it if they want to retain him."

But, then...
"The Bulls have decided to match Sacramento's $78 million offer sheet to Zach LaVine, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski."
 Huh
Wow everyone is trying to get him and it’s about to get interesting. Probably more teams would get interested in LaVine now that it is all over the news. More politics and money involved. More dunks! Lol

Well everything changes when a team enters the playoffs.
If they can somehow make it there then he could make another run into that scoring monster. I am not saying as strong as before, just that  big helper that will take the team to the 2nd round or maybe the Finals.

They got a good line up now, all they need is to work harder with every game to win it.

One question now, where will Kawhi Leonard go? The heat within Spurs is getting stronger.

Let us not forget about this guy that could make some big changes in the Lakers team. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Lebron has made his decision and now we are waiting for the trade of Leonard.
I hope he will not be given to a shitty team, he is a very competitive player and was once a Finals MVP so he deserve a team that could help him to be in playoffs again.

I expected Lebron to leave Cleveland again after watching him this past season.  You could tell he was fed up with this team and city.  James got tired of dragging a team of scrubs to the finals every year only to be destroyed by the warriors.  Yes they got lucky one year with the 3-1 comeback but that was a fluke.
No it wasnt a fluke but rather they do really have that comeback capability and somehow a mix or sort of luck.Irving was still on 2016 when they do won the finals same as Love and durant wasnt still on warriors.
GSW goes ahead with 3-1 but the rest was contradicted into opposite way with 3 wins.Theres no fluke in that and this years team members of GSW is too damn strong.
It may not be a fluke but i called it luck. As far as i can remember, there are turn of events that has favored the Cavaliers in that series. First was the game 5 suspension of Dreymond Green and the Bogut injury that come next. If only those things have not happened, there is no way that the Cavaliers would win that series.
You do have a point and i agree with that because table turns upside down when that incident do happen. Lacking of those players which do really have contribution of the gameplays would definitely affect and i see it as a definite reason why they do win up consecutively but well its sports and anything can happen on a particular time.

Seth Curry will now not be part of the Dallas Mavericks in the upcoming season. He is now signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.

With that, there's another room for Mavericks to fill their slots. They still have enough cap space to acquired at least closed to All-Star caliber player.
I don't think that team will be enough to reach the playoffs as the West already have a big free agency win with Lebron coming to their conference. I see that 12 out of the 15 teams in the West could battle it out for the 8 seeds and Dallas Mavericks is not one of them.
Same thoughts and basing on their line-up it would really be hard even just joining up with that top 8.

hats off to Dirk for sticking around for so long and I really like the mavericks, maybe they could slide into a higher seed in the west but even that will be tough....the NBA is so lop sided now its ridiculous!

i hope they integrate a new seeding system in the playoffs because I would say that the top 2...maybe 3 teams in the NBA are in the west.

golden state
houston
LA (now)

then others are strong as well like OKC

I think Dallas will get crushed by these teams and even struggle with teams like pheonix

That was expected for Dallas Mavericks so fans are used to it already. The competition for the West are now became more tough with the rebuild that Los Angeles Lakers did so Im not really rooting for Mavericks to reached even at 8th spot but again "who knows". Top 8 last season is already a tough team to beat. And now with the addition of Lakers back in the competition, one of that tough teams on that top 8 will now become on top 9 below. But still Im hoping before Dirk Nowitzki retires. Smiley

About the seeding system, the current one is just fine for me so that teams will forced themselves to make a strong lineup to cope up with the competition especially on Western Conference.

Yeah. I already made a post about them  Grin
They look very interesting this season, at least to me. But, as someone said, I think they need one more star to be able to fight for Playoff spot. This way they are too weak. And I think they have enough cap space to sign someone good.

Here are some of the estimated big numbers at Dallas Mavericks.

Harrison Barnes - $24m
DeAndre Jordan - $23m
Wesley Matthews - $18m
Dwight Powell - $9m
Dirk Nowitzki  - $5m
J.J. Barea - $4m
Dennis Smith Jr. - $3.5m

That is $87m estimated total and the other players are not there yet. I think this will their full blast for the season and let us just hope they will all be healthy to reach again the playoffs.

yeah I think that the Mavericks will just need to play the season as it is and not aim to get the team for play off they have to focus on building a team for the season after this but if they came across a good bargains if there are any available they need to take it. if not next season it is because
when u see everyone buying they are going to just place themself in a bidding war in a bear market, and you dont need a financial analyst to tell you that's not a good thing. Signing people now for the sake of signing will just put us in a position to overpay on aplayer that don't even worth it especialy when they are not going to compete this season.

What?
I dont know what Portland is thinking but they have 2 good guards there already.
They need a big man there.
Are they trying to create their team to be Houston like?
Whatever happens a big is still a need. It might be a successful play with both Houston and Celtics playing small with speed but that is because of a good play. I dont see Portland having that kind of plays.

Mike D'Antoni already did that with Phoenix making Steve Nash MVP and now Harden. He is good with it, I dont know about other coaches though.

Lakers worry Lonzo Ball's camp leaked knee injury so he wouldn't get traded, report says

Really a lol on this.

Maybe Lonzo Ball was considered to be part of the lists who supposed to be traded but now that he reportedly have an injury, teams will now think twice. Therefore he is now safe from trades.  Lakers are now serious in rebuilding process. I even got surprised when they traded D'Angelo Russell for getting Kyle Kuzma.

We all know that Lakers is one of the rich team in the league and for years, even they have the capability to acquired superstars, they remained silent. Maybe they really target LeBron James. What a patience.

Will there be a 2019 nba season thread?

This thread is not updated anymore. The main post last modification were made on 2017. There is still even a poll. Up to the guys here if they want to continue the discussion here or considered making a new thread. I can make one if everyone wants.
It would be nice to see a new thread for 2019 NBA season because this thread has almost 1k pages already and you are right, this is not updated. Suggest to have a poll for everybody to vote whether they like a new thread or not. We should also consult the OP of this thread of what he wants.

Im not really rooting for this team to be included in the playoffs but who knows. Im just became more interest to this team as I can see some little bit of changes throughout the years. I just want to see them back at playoffs scene.

And they acquired another new big man too, Kostas Antetokounmpo, younger brother of the Greek Freek Giannis Antetokounmpo. Despite of his 6'11" height, he is athletic and fast just like his older brother. That is a unique center if ever. What a blood flowing at these Antetokounmpo brothers.

No matter, the Dubs have the means to wait, with Kevin Durant coming back, and Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green still there ... But if Cousins, 27 years old and four times All Star, finds all of its resources by the play-offs, which the transplant takes with the rest of the locker room and that Steve Kerr manages to get the best of his new acquisition on the floor, offensively and defensively, it will not be good to be on the road of doubles defending champions! Which will line a five exclusively composed of All Stars! Enough to bring regret to the clubs that have forgotten Cousins this summer. Apparently, the Pelicans did not offer him. They turned to Julius Randle. In fact, nobody would have really solicited it. Fifth pick in the 2010 Draft, this Kentucky veteran made his debut in Sacramento before being traded to New Orleans in February 2017.
