Wow, interesting trade between Celtics and Cavs. On one hand, maybe Celtics gave too much for Irving, but on other hand Celtics in Irving got experienced all star player who is, to be honest, much better player than Isiah Thomas. Anyway, very very interesting trade! Looking forward to new season!

It's not about the comparison of Irving and Thomas performance, it's about destroying the current system of Celtics. No matter how good Irving is, IT already knows the Celtics system that why he able to carry the team into playoffs. He already knows the caliber of his teammate. It's the same as destroying your championship lineup like what Cuban did into my favorite team Dallas the next season after they won a championship last 2011.

Crowder and IT's good performance are some of the reasons why Celtics reached the East 1st spot passing Cleveland Cavaliers this last season.

Yeah, it will take some time to him to fit in lineup, but after fitting Celtics will be strong again. They have Hayward who can replace departure of Jae Crowder...

Dissapointed at Celtics move. I don't know what they are thinking. They also gave up the 2018 first round pick which might be a good asset in their future roster. Isiah Thomas was the last pick of first round during 2011 draft and Kyrie is the first but now shining on the stage due to his recent performance in Boston Celtics.

Well that was management decision. Just hopefully they made a good decision out of this trade.
One player in exchange of 3 players, that is not a good move, Irving is good but he need another superstar like Lebron to win the Finals.
If he cannot take his team to the playoff before lebron go back, then what would be the chances that he can raise the celtics team.

They're gonna make Kyrie their franchise player, so yes he's worth way that much. It would have been better if they did include a third team to offset the burden of trading him though.

Kyrie is a great player but I don't believe he is going to change the team in a different way other player could not.

I think that getting a center is much more important right now for the next season because Irvin can't do anything by himself at the field section.

Well in all honestly I really think that the Cleveland Cavaliers received the better end of the trade. Talking about in the long term perspective here even if Isaiah Thomas did not decide to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers they will still have the Brooklyn's first round draft pick which is we all know guaranteed to be at least in the top 5 of the draft. Also the good thing about this is, if Isaiah Thomas decides to re-sign it will also make Lebron extend in the team again. In a few more years they will have a much stronger team.

I think it's really an interesting trade! Both teams have earned this trade especially because the players will be even more motivated in the new team! Boston vs cleveland will almost certainly be the conference final!

For now, Boston and Cleveland have big chance to meet again at the finals.

But let's not forget that some of the East teams are having a big modifications as of now which the process is still incomplete providing it still more months to go before the season opening. Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Wizards and Washington Wizards are some of the teams to watched at East that expecting to have a surprising changed in their lineup. I didn't include New York Knicks since there is still no clear path for Carmelo Anthony.

While i certainly think that the trade worked out for both teams, Cleveland got the better hand here. Not only do they get a scorer whose offensive game is as potent as Kyrie's, but they also got a decent defender in Crowder.

However, Kyrie can now take Boston to the next level if he is take his offensive game up a notch . What do you guys think about Bostons offence now?

I really thought thathat Kyrie Irving would have gotten over his pride and stayed at the team, I don't know how the move to Boston Celtics is going to affect his career in total. I really don't want the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA championship next season and with Kyrie gone I doubt the Cavaliers can challenge properly.

No. the damage on his relationship with Lebron has been done and no amount of persuading will keep him from playing with the Cavs. I think this is already brewing last year because they have a losing streak around March and I though that something must be wrong with the team although they reach the championship, but evidently it was already shown in that series with GSW. Let us wait and see how Kyrie then carry the Boston Celtics.

Kyrie Irving needs to appreciate what Lebron James is doing for the team. It's a shit reason for me if it's all because he don't want to be a backup. A basketball is a team of 5 and they need do work together. Clearly if that is really the reason, then it's way to arrogant that his goal is he must lead the team. Then show it and carry Boston Celtics into stardom.

He has greater stats than Isiah Thomas and it's a shame if they can't land even on playoffs like what he experienced when he still owned the Cavaliers from 2011-2013.

In order to avoid being in the shadow of Irving, I think it's like a giant and solid exchange in this process that kept the path to Boston. This season again my favorite golden state in my eye.

Here's my opinion about the final deal of the Kyrie Irving trade;

Who won the deal for me? First of all, we can't say 100% what those players involved in the trade will contribute to their respective team this upcoming season. Maybe there will be a surprises. For me, the winner of the trade is Cleveland Cavaliers.

Why?

-Isiah Thomas plays very well last season. He is one of the reason why Celtics clinched the Eastern Conference top spot. Couldn't imagined Celtics gave up this guy. Include also the contribution of Jae Crowder in terms of defense and ability to dominate the make points in the paint. Cavaliers need this type of guys in case of Lebron dissappearance in the upcoming seasons.

-Cavaliers also get the rights to acquired the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 unprotected first-round pick.

-I see, it will be a good blend as IT and Lebron have different playing style. Plus the fact that they also enhance their Big Man's lineup which Cavs really needs.

The downside; IT will be free agent next season and I don't see he will accept a max contract to the Cavaliers. Lebron also not sure if he will stay at the Cavs.

I knew it that the Cavs will never let their trades on the lower part. They have to win all the time with their trades.
And they had the best deal for this season for getting Isaiah Thomas.

I also see Cleveland Cavaliers won the deal. Isiah Thomas really carry Boston Celtics last season without any superstar in their lineup even Thomas isn't considered as superstar prior to their rally to the East top. Kyrie Irving on the other hand also will make impact to the Celtics squad but impact isn't enough.

I remember Irving can't carry Cavaliers in the playoffs before Lebron came to Cavs. While Thomas succesfully bring Celtics on the playoffs and most notable thing, being the East no.1 for 2016-2017 standing.

It's clear my Cavs got the better end of this deal, just think about it Thomas is a lesser version of Irving true but Crowder is perhaps the best defender in the East and a huge addition to the Cavs to stop Durant. But besides that they get an interesting young prospect in Zizic plus a very valuable 2018 pick (could be top 5!) if they go to rebuilding mode next year.

However, Boston shouldn't be too hard on themselves, if Lebron leaves next year the Celtics will be kings in the East (unless LBJ stays with team from the East (NYK maybe?).

Quite good, the deal for both teams seems to be helpful and they are happy with the trade.

And for their offense, still we I can't have an insight about this thing until I watch the play of the new roster of Boston.

When it comes to defense, yes you said it Crowder is good at it.

I'm not sure though. It is really tempting if you're offered a player of kyrie's caliber but boston just came from a really good run last season with the core that they have now. I'm not sure how this trade is going to work out for them but definitely the cavs will benefit highly from this.
I just don't get what path the Boston Celtics want to take because they gave up the 1st pick and not drafting Markelle Fultz in what I thought including the fans of the Celtics that Isaiah Thomas was their long term Star Point Guard and now they are trading him away for Kyrie Irving along with Jae Crowder and a 1st Round pick from Brooklyn. I really hope they do know what path they are going because acquiring Gordon Hayward would be a waste for the team.

Damn. I never thought that Boston Celtics would give up Isiah Thomas after was he gave the team last year and I'm also thinking the he would be the face of Boston for years to come. Its gonna be a painful for Isiah to see Boston left him go. Anyways, it is what it is so he should move and look forward and playing with the greatest player of today's generation-Lebron James. I think its more of a win on the side of Cavaliers, and with this trade, it doesn't seems that they will miss the scoring that Kyrie could provide every night as we all know that IT is a good scorer as well. Plus IT is a very good guard as well. Interesting to see those team meet at the finals in the East and let's see emotions flaring up. LOL.
I guess they never really saw Isaiah Thomas to be there guy in the future. And the funny thing about this is they have up the 1st round draft pick of the Brooklyn Nets as well, in which we all know the Chicago Bulls is only asking for in the Jimmy Butler trade. I think they have offered a lot in exchange for a Point Guard who has the same skill set with what they had. A really bad trade for the Boston Celtics.

The thing is Kyrie is just 25. The kid is just entering his prime. It's pretty reasonable to build a franchise around him.
It looks like they didn't count on Thomas on long term, but as you say Kyrie is 25 years old and has at least 5 great seasons to play. To build a franchise around him is good thing, he is amazing player.
On the other side, Cleveland will be stronger team with those three players but I think that Thomas will be in same situation as Kyrie was. He is a scoring machine and playing with Lebron will suffocate him. Instead of scoring 30+ points per game he will have to settle on 10+ but will be closer to a championship title.

Kyrie can now build his own legacy. He can show his leadership and skills in boston away from the shadow of Lebron. It will be exciting to watch Eastern Finals since the most probable teams for finals will be boston and cavs.
