If Derrick Rose goes to Cavs, what role should he fit it? A backup to Irving? I don't know if this is a good moved from the Cavs management. I guess what others have speculate, this is a desperation move from their end. I think what they need is a good role player that can defend a opposing teams main man and not another superstar which career is going to the pipe. I know that Cavs owner has a lot of money to spent, but they should choose a player that will perfectly fit with the team and not to disrupt it.
Actually an injured prone Derrick Rose still has better than stats compare to other players. According to his stats last season with New York Knicks, he established an average 18 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, for
64 GAMES. The only downside here is, as usual, lots of missed games.
With Rose current status today, I think it's fine if he will landed on Cavaliers. No such thing now as main role for him because he knows he have to adjust to playing style of Lebron James like Dwayne Wade did on Miami Heat even on his prime era. Like I said in my previous post here, attitude are being changed. The disadvantage here like I said is the missed games so it's hard to cover that hole if he will missed. Now what is the solution? Offer Rose a standard salary so still it will make Cavs' salary cap more rooms.
Right now, there are 3 teams courting Derrick Rose, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls. But remember, sometimes surprises happened like what happened to Paul George.
He is but in recent seasons he didn't have "major" injuries or missed entire seasons which were pretty common for him at Chicago. It's true attitude is something that can be controlled and changed but remember he has a huge conflict at the middle of the season threatning to leave, missing practice, etc. He's definitely a prima donna type of player.
However the Cavs already "reformed" J.R. Smith. No one can deny that, he's not an all star of course but we can all see how he's a very valuable role player for the Cavs, a 3pt threat and a decent defender. He can even be a great weapon from the bench. If Rose can fit in like that in Cleveland he has a much higher ceiling than Smith.
Got your point as it was the always scenario and it can be take as a reference for teams that will adopt him. But still we are talking here in advanced and who might know that Rose "might" be changed.
About J.R Smith, that's the one I like to formed by the Cavs. If Rose will stay healthy and "removed" that traits of his, they will have a better Small Forward lineup, not on the starting lineup but as a backup. Anyways I can't see any rumor currently about Cavs target players so I can't state my final view on Cavs roster. Let's wait until free agent signing is over.
