Klay Thompson vs. the Clippers tonight:

0 PTS
0/9 FG
0/6 3PT

I don’t mean to keep piling on the Klay is washed club, but he’s not exactly shooting the lights out so far in Dallas. He’s basically not even playing as good as Bronny James Jr. Hopefully things get better for him but I have my doubts.
One thing that many will say; still 'pre-season'  Grin

But totally bad to start for him. This might affect his mental toughness since imagine that his zero point performance again became a trend again and to many criticism he receive towards that performance.

I was also impressed with how Yuki Kawamura plays during this pre-season. He's really impressing the team, the management and his teammates. I would love to cheer for him if ever the Grizzlies will give him a better and more decent contract for the regular saeson.

Yuki Kawamura is fun to watch, its like he has something new to perform each game he play. I think he deserve to get a contract from Grizzlies since their rotation became so good when he plays around. He's good to be their floor general and for sure that he brings good help to their campaign.

Let see if there's good development will happen and if Grizzlies would let Yuki Kawamura to be part of their roster this season.

Is it just me or does wemby look a little bit more buffed? If he can keep some strength to him then he is going to be great and he is going to get better stats as well. I still think Spurs will suck this season, there is no way we can see them do fine, but at the end of the day they are not really looking to win right now neither. They are going to see the team building for some more time.
Yes, I saw some of his old pics when he was just starting and today, and it seems that he has gain some muscles as well. Although his frame is too big and it might take some to really see a big transformation, just like Giannis before wherein the latter gain 50 pounds o pure muscles thru hard work and it didn't change his speed but he become so scary.

This is how powerful the NBA is, for sure he still has a lot of room for improvements for that 20-year-old body during his rookie days, he already dominating plus he was the rookie of the year 2024.
Having already the height as being center, now for sure the focus on him is being tough where he will become solid and anti for backs out every rebound.

Yeah, those equipments that already available and those knowledge from nutritionist who can assist and guide him for the betterment and improvement of his health we might see more in terms of gaining muslces, I like the way Spurs is developing him not in the rush but for sure just like how they build Timmy before sooner or later he might see that same or maybe better potentials for Wemby.

With him doing his best to gain muscles and maintain that speed, we already seen things like this from Giannis like how it was mentioned from the post before you.

That no look pass, and then a drop off pass was the highlight of the game. We can even see Ja Morant giving him pointers too. So let's see if Memphis is going to extend his contract and so if that happens, we will have another Japanese in the NBA after Yuta Watanabe.

While Yuta Watanabe has already announced his retirement to the NBA and focusing on the league's in his own country. There's probably a better role for Yuki since there's height difference between the two and as for their roles inside the court.

Didn’t he have an injury? Maybe he’s still feeling it, which could explain why he’s not comfortable with his shooting right now. I know his shooting percentage has dropped, but being scoreless in the preseason really stands out. It kind of reminds me of when he was scoreless during the play-in game while he was still with the Warriors--a game that mattered a lot for the team.

Yes he's hurt and reported to have back tightness which provably the main reason why he perform like that. Refer to this article regarding on this report https://thesmokingcuban.com/klay-thompson-suffers-injury-after-just-one-game-with-dallas-mavericks

He's shooting percentage really decline and for what happen for past games we can really see that he's not the Klay we used to see way back on GSW. Hopefully he can recover and do more better performance in regular season. Its to bad to see a downfall like this and especially that we used to see him perform so good and bring good impact to his past team.

Here we go, just as I feared, haha. Sure off nights happen but in the preseason you want to be ready, and this doesn't look very ready. Just like the previous when he had the biggest negative +- of all players. Hope for him he will turn it around and this was just a slight hickup but if he doesn't get a hang on this quick this experiment might have failed early.

I don't know, but it looks like he isn't even trying though? And yeah, I do agree, it looks like he is not season ready yet. Hopefully, this is just one of the games that he is not taking it seriously. There were moments wherein someone stole the ball from him from behind and he didn't even get back in defense.

Something else, anybody follow Yuki Kawamura in Memphis? After a nice world cup performance by him for team Japan he got a chance to play for Memphis (I think it's an "exhibit-10 contract"at the moment) and even though he is just 173cm short he definitely looks like he belongs, at least in the preseason obviously.
His stats so far are solid as well: https://www.nba.com/player/1642530/yuki-kawamura

His passing especially is quite flashy and will be seen in some highlight reels I think. Hopefully he can somehow fight is way in the main rotation and stay in the NBA since 1 Japanese guy in Yuta Watanabe left to back and play in Japan.

A couple more years to really see Wemby fully developed, he is still very young and plenty of room to improved. And if the Spurs can surround him with talented young players as well, and Wemby fully embracing his role as the franchise player of Spurs, they could be a very good team in the future. They still have one of the best coach in the league, with a lot of experience under his shoulder to built a team from ground up and become a championship caliber team.

It will be good if Victor's transformation follows the same scenario as Giannis'. In that case, Victor can become one of the best centers in the league. Moreover, Victor is very lucky that at the beginning of his career, he is coached by Pop and will perform on the court with one of the best point guards in the league (Paul). The only thing is that the Spurs don't have much time to develop Victor because Coach Pop is already 75 years old, and Paul is close to the end of his career as a player.

He needs to build that muscle because he can get pushed around inside too easily. With his height, he should be dominating there, grabbing offensive rebounds for easy putbacks. No doubt he’s got some midrange and even outside shooting, but it’s better to let his teammates handle that. The Spurs should have a clear strategy for both outside and inside attacks. I just hope he stays healthy so we can watch his growth—I'm sure he’ll become a legend in the future.
Back in the days, the big that we used as a reference on whether they must have this kind of body is Giannis. I mean if we talk about bigs, we always say "Can they receive the body of Giannis when they're defending him?" something like that mindset. Last regular season, we've seen Wemby going toe-to-toe against Giannis, and he even blocked him in the crucial minutes of the game (that went viral at least for a while).

Now he gained more muscle, and TBH saying that he will be better than last season for me is an understatement. I believe that he will have all-star stats this season, and he will be an all-star that's for sure. With the addition of CP3 with the team, he will be better, much better than last season. We saw a glimpse of their pick and roll during the preseason and just by looking at it, nobody can stop it. Still, I don't expect the Spurs to be a contender in the next 1-2 years. They need another young and talented player to be with him. Right now, he doesn't have on his team.

Buddy Hield may look like the new Splash Brother and replaced Klay Thompson very well so far, and he did bring in some new energy to the team which they needed for a while now, even on their last championship. But I am not sure how long he can keep this up, after all this team is built on three point shooting and this means Hield will be getting some good shots but the moment he starts to miss, things could go very wrong.

Klay had the same problem, he had a streaky past, I remember when he broke the three point record with 14 threes in a game, dude was 5 out of 36 or something on previous games. Hield needs to make sure he is good but also consistently, I rather have someone with 3-4 threes made per game on 40%, then someone who shoots 5-6 threes, which is unreal to keep up.
Buddy Hield is, so to speak, the team's favorite. With such ability to throw three-point throws, you can already dream of something good in your career. Such players, to be honest, are hard to find. They are definitely not lying around on the road. I hope that I will see a wonderful game with this basketball player. I like it when a person feels confident in himself and only moves forward, despite the fact that there are many obstacles on the path to success.

Spurs needs a few more years, but eventually they will have some players both from draft probably but also from trading and free agency as well to surround him. I have no idea how long Pop wants to keep coaching, I do not know if they will see Pop renew his contract yet again, because if he doesn't, a new coach there will be start of a new era and will be hard to see. In the end I am sure they are going to end up with a terrible team for a while longer and obviously they had one for a while too, but eventually this Wemby dude will make them good again.

I'm not surprised that no one is talking about Rookie of the Year this season in this thread. lol Is this because Bronny James was drafted? Yes. Not gonna lie, it seems like all the media attention is on Bronny James and other top 5 picks arent being recognized because of him. Bronny James being LeBrons son, gets a lot of attention, which might be why there hasnt been much focus on other rookies who could be candidates for Rookie of the Year. His hype could be drawing attention away from rookies performances. lol

All attention is on Bronny for sure, however, I don't see any hype on any rookie for now, that's why maybe it's not been talk about not like when Wemby did enter the NBA, all eyes on him and we can say that he didn't disappoint us for winning the ROTY.

As for Donte trash talking his former team, we love, we love this kind of atmosphere even if this is just the pre-season, just imagine if this is like playoff, it will be electrifying to see Donte against his 'Nova team. And the Wolves should be happy that they have this kind of dog in Donte and not backing down to anyone.

Things got a little heated in the Knicks vs Timberwolves preseason game today. Donte DiVincenzo Seems a little upset about the trade…

https://x.com/bleacherreport/status/1845628567540973731
I don't know why Rick Brunson is having a beef with DiVincenzo but I bet Donte has received a message that Rick was part of the reason why he was traded, just my guess. But Donte needs to move on, I know he likes playing with the Villanova brothers but he is on a better team now and he must show it to them and silence them all.
Tell the Knicks they made a mistake through his actions and success. I am betting for the Timberwolves to win this year and I bet he will be a big part of that when they make it to the top.

Is he on a better team now?  Knicks and Wolves are both top echelon teams.  I'm sure donte is a little salty knowing he wanted to stay there with the kmicks and ride this thing out.  In terms of brunson no clue but brunson isn't going to be part of any deals Leon rose makes.  It's Leon's job to put 5 on the court the coach can take all the way to a chip.  These guys know the business and it isn't personal.

I think that's what really happen if someone is being traded, and we all know how competitive Donte is, and so he is going to trash talk his former team moving forward. It could be the same when Klay plays against the Warrior, Klay is known to be a trash talker so there could be one or two against his former team mates.

If he had beef with Rick then obviously, it will trickle down to Jalen Brunson and the whole Knicks. And that's what we wanted to see though, players are really going at it because of how they really compete against each other and wanted to win.

I finished watching the NBA documentary on Netflix - Starting Five. It made me miss Winning Time a bit, which was the best NBA show I ever saw until it was cancelled. I’m still glad I saw it though. Everyone’s heads are exactly where I thought they’d be. Anthony Edwards seems ready to take over his role as the best player in the NBA. I’m ready for the season to start.
