Anyone else also watching the draft right now?  No shock seeing Victor Wembanyama going number one overall, of course..but it should be pretty exciting to see how these next few picks play out.  There's some great players in this draft outside of Victor!

I am wondering if my Chicago Bulls are going to try and pull anything off tonight.  There's been some talk of them trading Zach Lavine tonight for a high pick.  They seem to be in no mans land right now, so I think I'm okay with that to be honest.

You don't have the understand the front offices.

What do they want with CP3 in San Francisco? Veteran leadership? Half the team has this already.

2 days ago they said they are not looking to trade Poole and will plan with him for "at least" the next 4 years. Amazing how this mindset changes within 48 hours.

Can't get less value for him. Also Paul gets around 30  million next season, why would they want to pay him that??

Terrible trade for GSW in my opinion. Did Bob Myers do this 1 week before stepping down? I can't imagine.

Chris Paul going to the Warriors as a backup for Steph Curry? I didn’t expect that. I guess CP3 thought that was his best chance at a ring. This to me means that Jordan Poole is done in Golden State. Crazy because I thought he would be next up, especially with Draymond rumored to be leaving the team this offseason. First surprise of the offseason…

Edit: Looks like Poole was in the trade. Checks out…

Honestly that was the last place I though he would land as well.  Can't wait until free agency opens up and teams start taking shape.  Definitely a weird landing spot but I guess they both can give each other breathers throughout the season.  But wow cp3 setting up steph.  This could be some fun basketball to watch.

I think CP3 will get the role of Sean Livingston as the best 6th man. I really like Warriors decision to release Jordan Poole to acquire more efficient and veteran Paul than struggling Poole. CP3 is consistent if he has a reliable team to depend on. He is just injury prone that's why he always missed important games of his team during his time on Suns.

This is a good addition for Warriors to strengthen again their benches which they are currently lacking  since they trade most of their strong bench players just to maintain their core players that doesn't pay well this season.

And I guess Steph+Klay+Jordan, who played almost the same position are not going to work for long term. And we have seen the Poole is the first one to be inconsistent, fans of Warriors hated him to go, but that's how championship teams are built, sometimes they have to sacrifice.

CP3 could still be a good addition, he has more experience in playoffs and crucial plays, he might be injury prone, but if he will be just getting quality minutes then perhaps the Warriors can really extend him and obviously trying to get another championship run with the old veterans as their core is like 33 years old and up.

Klay - 33
Draymond - 33
Steph - 35
Chris Paul - 38

This is a huge move from their new GM. Mike Dunleavy Jr. Played for the Warriors, and Indiana Pacers in his prime with Reggie Miller, and Milwaukee Bucks.
Jordan Poole. I wish him well. His inconsistency could sometimes make a Warriors fan furious. This should be good for him, he will still be the backup point guard or the Wizards will be testing the water on who will be better, him or Tyus Jones. The best part is, Poole won be on the shadows of Steph Curry anymore. He should create his own story and perhaps this is the time.
Yeah, and probably Poole will have the green light to shoot 30+ in game? Lol. I think he will thrive though in the Wizards uniform, as you have said he is inconsistent specially this season, perhaps there were still drama in the locker room after the punching incident with Draymond and it carry on throughout. Anyhow good luck to Jordan.

About CP3, this may be the best position he could get. Be on a team with a strong core and management and let them handle the rest of the deal. If they want Draymond back then so be it but I guess they will be paying another luxury tax year.  Cheesy
I don't know how much space they opened up by releasing Poole or they just added more dollars in their space by taking CP3 in.
Giving Draymond a heck of a contract might swell their salary cap, let's see if they can still handle that. Or, is it time to reinforce their forward and center positions?
Most likely this will be his last chance to win a NBA ring before he retires.

Draymond is not yet signed though if I'm not mistaken. But Dunleavy says he will do everything in his power to retain Green. And now that Poole is out, the core couldn't more intact, with CP3 and Andrew Wiggins.

Not really surprised that Smart was the first one to be traded since he's the most expendable of the trio but never imagined KP to be there. He'll have less playing time for sure unless he'll be their main center which I doubt. I think Celtics is taking too much risk by changing a lot of the team dynamics.

It is said that it should be Brogdon and Pritchard, but some team decline on Brogdon and it was surprising that the Celtics offered smart on the trade just to get KP. It could be a good move for Boston side, or it's a bad trade done by Brad Stevens.

Yeah, never imagine that CP3 and Steph will be in the same team, but it looks like they are finalizing a team that include includes Jordan Poole.

I read some Warriors fans are disgusted with the trade, getting a 40 year old CP3 in exchange of Poole. But I guess it was forthcoming though, Poole never perform any better in the playoffs specially against the Lakers.

Khris Middleton just declined his $40,000,000 player option for the coming year. I’m not sure what he’s thinking… He only got that much because they needed a good player to run with Giannis and nobody else wanted to play for the Bucks. I get that Khris wants to secure a long term payday, but I think he may regret passing up that 40 million.

So as a result, he will now become a free agent this offseason.

Scenario 1:

Instead of accepting the player option offered by the Milwaukee Bucks, he surely wants to look for a new and much better deal. Since he will become a free agent, several teams will surely offer him the supposed decent contract he is looking for and for the Bucks, if it's reasonable to do so, they might counter-offer all of it just to keep Middleton on the team.

The risk though is, what if no better offer than the current offer by the Bucks? Even generally consistent, he is injury-prone this past season.

Scenario 2:

Simple as it is, regardless of the contract, declining a player option means he might have a target destination team and don't want to play anymore in the Milwaukee Bucks jersey.

I just do hope that we won't see a Dennis Schroder 2.0 scenario here and his agent is being careful of their decision.

This is the craziest deal that I see, I don't really want to underestimate Chris Paul but the injury-prone CP3, but a likely good trade Jordan Poole and Draymond Green chemistry are likely to Crumble away so a good trade will be Jordan Poole to the other team but I am very negative about the Chris Paul trade if this is real, for me CP3 is not consistent but Consistent in getting injured, sorry Chris Paul fans but I am frustrated about this,
Well, the GSW would like to try if it's gonna work if they've got CP3 on them and while we've seen how poor the last performances of Poole. I'm excited on this trade and how he's going to play with Steph. As you've said, he's prone to injury and he's gonna be like have the numbered days in his professional career. There's no need to be sorry on the fans, this usually how it goes with these trades and hopefully that GSW won't get injuries a lot and at the same time with their key players. Because if that happens, we might see on how they've became a lackluster for a season.

Yeah, they'll get to it eventually.
The important thing that they need to do for now is to get him and then do the rest next when he's with them. Everything is gonna be taken care of by the management and it's all planned and they've got programs for him already. We're all optimistic that he's gonna be built by the team and there are a lot more plans for him.

All eyes are on Victor Wembanyama in the next season and could be gotten by the San Antonio Spurs, right now the San Antonio Spurs really need to up their Roster and Wembanyama is a great addition to the Spurs and There is a reason why the Spurs are lucky enough in getting him a 7-foot-4 Kevin Durant on offense and a mixture of Rudy Gobert defensively so getting Wembanyama in full shape and muscle should get him fit to be like Durant and Gobert powerhouse,

I'd ease up on the Kevin Durant on offense and gobert on defense comparisons.  I get it the kid looks good but let him play a couple months in the NBA before we compare him to one of the best offensive players in the world and a desire player of the year type of guy all in one lol.

I wasn't also expecting this news. I just saw it by now and was surprised that this trade was even quicker than Draymond's.

It's like a new era for them and a new face and that's why they'll have to make sure that they get the kid and build up the team with supporting players as well. We do remember all of those rosters that they've got including Duncan, Manu, Parker and with some Kawhi as well.

Of course, KP will be the main center. He is still a big star and a huge problem for its rival teams. Personally, I am liking the big shake-up the Celtics are doing. Over the years they really have the real potential of becoming champions but they only made it into the finals once. KP might change the usual Celtics plays but the center can provide a big boost of offense, especially during the times when Tatum and Brown turn cold. And it is time for a change after its failed 2022-23 season.

The Celtics are still looking very strong provided they can stay healthy next season. Horford is an important piece but he is aging and the team will limit his minutes but he will be utilized during the playoffs.

After Finals end I was at the vacation as well and didn't check NBA news. Any suggestions for new poll? What's the hottest discussion right now?

Probably who will be the first pick in this years draft? (although the odds favor Victor Wembanyama).

The draft will be tonight, and the results will most likely be predictable. So there's no point in creating a new poll about it. It's worth noting that the offseason is primarily a time of trades between teams. So, if ingiltere wants to make a new poll in this thread, I think he should just take a few of the most discussed trade rumors at the moment and make a poll about which one of the rumors turns out to be true.

Marcus smart to Grizzlies made sense to me in that sense that Grizzlies as a team likes to play grit and grind type of basketball, been like that for over a decade now and they keep doing that even when players change, it's whole generations changed, the first grit and grind people were like tony allen and so forth era, and all of those retired, and they still play that ball, even when coaches change, it's a team culture.

But, Celtics made no sense to me, Porzingis is definitely out, he ain't doing much, and picks do not worth a lot neither. So I am not sure what Celtics got, nothing that helps them quickly for sure, and they needed to have a quick return because they "almost" won the title, so they need improvement, not rebuilding. Lets see what they are planning.

Also i think they are cover Ja Morant, if he again make some stupid move in his private life.

Marcus its really good player and its gonna fit really good in Memphis.

Celtics lose the north, after so many failures and being so close to win a championship, they dont know what to do now.

Ja morant is just stupid. Why would you do all of that stuff to hurt your career and your team. He is the main player there and is hurting them for the upcoming season. Smart is a good transfer for Memphis especially for their defence so they are making a good team for next season
