We don't wish for something bad to happen to a player, but considering what we have witnessed in the past, we cannot erase the worries that the same thing could happen again. So, it's best to prepare ourselves for the possibilities and not set high expectations. Sometimes, a player may even exceed our expectations. Personally, I hope Victor Wembanyama will dominate the ROY ranking once the season starts.
So there is high expectations from him, hopefully he can come in healthy and then before we can witness if he will live to the hype. Although we have seen him play, NBA is very different though. 82 gruelling games and then the physically, so for me Victor needs at least gain some muscle, perhaps a Giannis like transformation to be able to stay in the league for a very long time.
There's always high expectations when being a first-round pick, but the question remains whether he can live up to those expectations. The NBA is quite different from the leagues he has played in, so we can't say for sure if he will find the NBA easier than his previous league. It reminds me of what Luka said in the past, where he believed it was easier to score in the NBA compared to the league he left to join the NBA.
