Honestly I don't like new Friday night format. I'd prefer the classic Rookies vs. Sophomores game.

Saturday night was one of the best though. We watched awful Slam Dunk contests lately but this one was really good. I've never heard of Mac McClung before. I see he wasn't even playing in the NBA. I don't know why they allow G-League players to participate in NBA All-Star. He deserved to win though.

I think we have seen a lot of youtube of individuals performing that kind of feat. But it hasn't been done in the NBA, it's all on other leagues dunk contest. But McClung bring the street dunk and saw everyone was amazed.

That was really something he is the only one that made the crowd go wild and had a perfect score like that, it was really truly amazing to watch it, and yeah I have seen it aswell on street balls but this is the 1st time for the NBA to have a look surely Mac McClung has seen that footage of awesome dunks on some social media and have tried it on line NBA, and this has increased the bar again with the dunk contest because if the judges have already seen the same dunk it is not impactful anymore,

I still prefer the old West vs East format. Anyways, like last year, players are having fun and forget all the battles they have, their logo shooting, Giannis dunk, Curry turn away shot and others. For sure this will be the same atmosphere for this year.

Well, last season was a fun team, and I think this is a fun team aswell Lebron James and Stephen Curry are still teammates, and I think that is good enough for me last season Curry got 50 points and become the MVP for that season, for me I think I would still go with Stephen Curry, I am a fan of the Golden State Warriors so I think this is natural,

Mac McClung took home the dunk contest trophy and rightfully so. He also had the dunk of the night with a 720 which was absolutely ridiculous. That was easily the best dunk since Aaron Gordon’s under the legs over the mascot dunk. This year’s contest was a big step up from last year’s. Hopefully next year we get to see Zion Williamson do something special…

He was right when he said he has some hidden dunk that we don't even know and most likely it will gonna influence other dunkers to practice their own style before the NBA all-star weekend so that they will not gonna disappoint the audiences and it's better for them to practice and master some unique dunks if they want to participate in the NBA slamdunk contest. Just look at McClung and how he really does his thing when it comes to this contest and he did his best and win it through his unique dunk.
He definitely saved the slam dunk contest this time, as the last one wasn't very impressive. Now, people are talking about his dunk and, of course, himself, which is good for tomorrow's game since the hype would give more chance to attract more people to watch the game. The All-Star game is coming up, with Team LeBron vs Team Giannis, and it should be a good matchup. So, hopefully, we will all enjoy the game. I can't wait to see it, to be honest.

Missed the dunk contest but I will watch the highlight later this day but until then , I just found out that my national TV are gonna live send NBA all star game tonight and I'm happy about it as last year I missed it because of this factor.  Grin
That's great because this is a big event in the NBA. It only happens once a year, so we shouldn't miss it

Hard to pick a winner in All Star game but I do hope we will have an entertaining game.
It's really hard because the players who are invited to play are the best on their teams, but I know you have your favorite players. So, just bet on the games they're playing in, and you'll enjoy watching the game.

It's hard to believe it can be done, you need to defy gravity to do it. Damn, McClung really made an explosive feat there and all viewers became so lively. It was the right move to end the contest and there's no doubt he won it. I scored 51 for that.  Grin It's just too much and he certainly revived the dunk contest again.

Tomorrow, All-Star Team Lebron vs Team Giannis.
How I wish we could also witness something that explosive. We had been used to the boring All-Star game and lesser viewers are watching it because they know it will just be like an entertainment game without hardcore defense. Mostly, just offensive exhibitions in the first to third quarters of the game.
I hope to see some competitive spirit.

Mac McClung's wind-up was really high enough for him to perform amazing dunks, and the level of competition was crashed by McClung so easily that he has done the Dunks in just 1 try, and he surely did new dunks and become more creative in performing them, and the only one from the dunk contest that has gotten a perfect score, and I think that he has truly leveled the competition again,

Mac McClung has "save the Dunk Contest", lol, the last time we have this kind of noises in the crowd is of course the Zach Lavine vs Aaron Gordon. But Mac is a different breed coming from G-league, who steal the show and make a name for him himself in this year's Dunk contest.

Malone though, his scoring all throughout the competition,  Grin

Hopefully he will have a good season in this second half of the NBA as he was just acquired by the Sixers.

The younger generations right now are getting better at their craft learning from the past could surely give them a craftier idea, and because of his elevation he is doing such a feat and a pull from the G-league I think many teams will now think on not getting him for their team, but surely even though you are a champion of the dunk contest I think many in the NBA can surely outperform Mac McClung with the Dunk contest but who would know Zach LeVine have made it possible,

Right now I am looking forward to a video replay of the NBA All-Star games because I haven't watched them yet, and I haven't seen if it already started,

I wasn't able to watch the competition, but this guy is all over social media now. His dunk was highly appreciated, making the dunk contest this year very entertaining. I'm wondering what the betting odds were before the actual competition. I'm pretty sure he's not a favorite because he's not very popular.

Yeah, it will be interesting what are the odds for him to win? is he the favorite though? because his name keeps popping even before the dunk contest. And yes it sort of revived this contest for a long time because it seems that we have seen almost all the dunks.

But not from McClung, his 720 or 540 dunks is the first of it's kind. I don't think we have witnessed that before.

So congrats to the Sixers for all bringing him to the NBA from G-league.

It was an easy win for McClung right from his first dunk until the last dunk. Even against a 6'9" player, he impressed us pretty well. He is way above the competition. It is a robbery that they did not score all his dunks 50.

They are right when they said he saved the dunk contest since it became very stale since the Gordon vs Lavine dunk contest. McClung made the contest interesting.

Watching the 3 point contest, first go around and Haliburton looks unbeatable.  There is so little motion in his shot, knicks definately botched not drafting dude.  Such a clean release and same motion every shot.  After watching his first round can't see who will be able to heat him unless he loses his legs.  Herro my long shot did terrible.
Yeah, damn that stroke of Haliburton, it's so fast he can save a lot of time, he should've taken more time at his money ball and that Starry ball. He tied the highest record of 31 points. Truly amazing.
My bet though is for Buddy Hield, I thought I am going to win it until Damian made all in his last rack. Just 1 point difference. Very fun game, and the reaction of Buddy Hield was so special after Dame hit the last money ball.  Cheesy

My skills challenge also was a loss, Team Rookie didn't do good at the shooting skills. It was actually terrible. Team Jazz won the game.

All-Star weekend is in full swing with the three point competition currently underway. You know what that means… The Slam Dunk Competition is coming up soon. While this year’s competition is full of names you may have never heard before, it should be a high flying competition. Get to a TV and turn on TNT so you don’t miss out. There are supposed to be some never before seen dunks this year.

At this point, I think the Lakers will do better next season if they acquire a talent that could be available more even with lesser talent but definitely cheaper than Davis.

There are lots of candidates to consider actually but the problem is, the ability of Coach Darvin Ham to rotate its players. He's far worst at doing that.

The Lakers do have actually a good lineup to consider even though Lebron James and Anthony Davis are out even prior to the last trade that happened at the trade deadline. But hell, as an example, Thomas Bryant is somehow doing great when Anthony Davis is out but when AD returned, Coach Ham put Bryant on limited minutes instead of testing the waters of combining him with Davis on the court. Bryant can play the Number 5 but Ham put AD instead on it where in fact AD is much more effective playing as a Number 4. There are even times that Ham is even putting LBJ as the number 5.

It's fine to do experiments but make it to the point that to consider changing gears after seeing it as a failure in several games. Being a new coach is not an excuse as Lakers are the name we are talking about here.

My boy quentin grimes should have won it.  Was the best one on the court both games, they just didn't win the final.  Had a garbage team with no help.  I like the format it was fun to watch.  NBA has nailed the all star game with the whole weekend of games/skills that everyone wants to watch.
Yeah, maybe if they won the finals.
Quentin Grimes was damn good that day. I think he missed only ltwice in a distance shot. But he is doing so much that you won't even care if he misses or not.
The rising stars game was as boring as anticipated, these weird changes to scoring rules really made it even worse, it's like we are watching harlem globetrotters at this point, they are really not playing to win but that was understandable when it first started, like lack of defense and all that was fine, nowadays they are not only failing to win, but they are actually failing to entertain in a brand new way.

I think it is time to go back to old ways, just two teams, freshmans and sophomores, 12 minutes quarters, 4 quarters, decent coaches and all that. I know that may not be great neither, but it would certainly be much better than whatever this is.
Watch the celebrity match, you will definitely be entertained.
I doubt we are going back to the way things are in All-Star events. This is their time to just enjoy themselves so they won't let it be a reason to hurt themselves and risk the playoff chance that is just 20+ games left after this.
Managements are more careful with their babies nowadays.

There's no doubt that a healthy Davis is very important to the Lakers. However, no matter how well he performs on the court, he can't be called a player who provides consistency for the team. I mean, his systematic injuries have devalued his talent since he hasn't played even half of the regular season games in the last two years. Unfortunately, the trend is the same this season since Davis has already missed 24 of 59 games.

Am I missing something here? I don't have that impression about Anthony Davis.

As far as I know, even Anthony Davis is considerably no doubt injury prone which keeps him from playing limited games this season, he's the most consistent player in the whole Lakers roster. It's always a big production you can expect from him once he returns to the court after a long period of recovery. There might be a series of off-night performances on him but that wasn't usual to expect.

I also don't see injuries devaluing his talent right now. He's still a beast. However, the main point is, that was all useless if he's always sidelined.

yeah, he is a beast when he plays but he cannot be a beast on the sideline. That is why his health is crucial to the success of the Lakers. His availability is hard to bank on because he gets injured more and more frequently. And if ever the Lakers get into the playoffs, that availability will be a big requirement to be successful. Every time I see AD on the floor, I ask myself if he is getting up or if is he injured again.

At this point, I think the Lakers will do better next season if they acquire a talent that could be available more even with lesser talent but definitely cheaper than Davis.
Exactly, It's not as if Anthony Davis' abilities are indispensable or whatnot, and I mean this in the literal sense. There's a lot of future talents out there and they may even buy out a couple free-agents as well to fill him in. Better to get someone who shows up more with a little less talent than depend and bank on someone who gets the job done only almost half of the time. As for Davis, he needs some sort of intervention, he's becoming the next Yao Ming of this game due to the number of injuries he incur every season, not good for someone who's reaching past their limit. In any case, the Lakers' best bet here is to have him be filled in or be outrightly replaced by a more consistent player, never mind being better.
