Canada vs USA will be our concern whoever wins will take over the standings while mexico in other matches will continue to hunt for the standings
At least the top 3 teams still have a chance for the standings if Canada vs USA draw then Mexico will take advantage at least the same points as USA

It seems to me that the US should win. But in fact all three teams (USA, Canada, Mexico) should feel confident as Panama, which is in attacking distance, has very poor statistics compared to this trio. I don't think Panama will be able to knock anyone out of the top three places, rather they will try to secure the fourth place to get into the intercontinental play-offs.

Canada managed to score first but i know USA will score too what's interesting is that Canada has never lost also recorded the fewest goals conceded yes better than USA
Panama beat USA in last year's qualifier it signifies that Panama cannot be underestimated they could have taken over Mexico who knows
I think the 3rd and 4th rank are not safe yet change can still happen because every country has 5 matches left.

What I find interesting is that Mexico is behind the USA and Canada. They might not even make it to the World Cup. And usually they usually participate.
This indicates that Canada has done an amazing job in football and is performing amazingly. Will Canada be a surprise in the World Cup, in this edition?
It's hard to measure the real potential of the national teams from this group, because all of them are at similar performance levels, that totally contrasts with teams from South America and Europe, which usually present much superior skills' levels. But it would be really nice to see teams like USA and Canada reaching the quarter finals, at least. As I see they are constantly trying to improve their soccer proficiency every 4 years and never give up, especially USA, which has never been out of a world cup since 1990, with the exception of the last one in Russia, four years ago.

I don't see France with so many chances to win.
They even have good players, but you can see that they don't "know" how to play as a team. Their performance at Euro 2020 was notorious. And even during the World Cup qualifying games, it was noticed that they were very unstable. I think they would have had a lot of better to do an excellent World Cup.

On the other hand, I think it is difficult this time to choose a possible winner. The fact that the World Cup is in Qatar and is played in the middle of a season, a lot can happen that surprises everyone.
Its never easy to predict who will win the world cup, surprises happen all the time. Italy, England, France all have a great chance just from Europe, and yes we usually have winners from Europe, and that is why I would give these three the biggest chance.

However, that doesn't eliminate Argentina or brazil right away, they may not be awesome like they used to but they are still a decent team. All in all I am feeling like there is a good chance there will be 4 or even 5 teams that will fight very hard to win it. Which one will win it? I have no idea and I am guessing that betting on the winner will be a very difficult thing to do.

Apart from the Mexico vs Costa Rica match, the rest of the games are hard to predict... Maybe if Panama can beat Jamaica... Honduras vs Salvador is also a match between two outsiders, where any outcome is possible! Of course Canada vs USA will be the most interesting match, but I think the other three may well have some unexpected surprises!

The world cup is here again and very many are in anticipation... Grin
I'll still agree to your point that Argentina is currently the heroes of South America and I think they're gonna have a better chance.

Colombia played really well last night and had the possesion but that still dosent mean that you are gonna win the match. Peru scored a goal in the 85th minute and sealed the deal on this match and with this win they have an amazing chance of making it to the world cup. While Colombia now needs to win all of the matches and pray that other teams drop points.

Don't even tell me, I was betting on Colombia's victory, I even reinforced this in a post I made during the game, in the second half. Colombia hadn't lost a game for a long time, and they were much better placed on the field, but... it happens.
The worst thing is that in the next match Colombia will face Argentina, away from home... I think her chances of qualifying are minimal.

Colombia and Argentina are two favorites for the title. I think only Brazil is really better at the moment. Although Argentina is the reigning champion of a South American tournament. Actually, we should both have Brazil and Argentina in the World Cup in Qatar. Colombia is also part of it. These are countries that can offer competition to the European superpowers.

Last night, there was a really awkward match between Colombia and Peru. Colombia were the absolute favourite of that match and I thought of betting on them also. I'm happy for not doing so because Colombia missed a big opportunity to win here. Peru even won this match somehow while Colombia had control of the whole match. Peru's only shot on target ended up with a goal and they magically secured a 1-0 score till the end. After this critical win, Peru have moved up to the fourth position and they have a winning streak of three matches.

Portugal was unlucky. First of all, they were placed in a very tough group along with Serbia. And then in the playoff stage, they are along another strong team (Italy). In case of Italy, they were in Group C along with Switzerland. This is why I previously mentioned that FIFA is not giving enough World Cup slots to UEFA. Some of the best teams in the world are not going to qualify for the World Cup, simply because they are a part of the UEFA. On the other hand, a number of sub-standard teams are going to qualify from the CAF and AFC.
When you want to win the world cup, there is nothing called "tough group", you need to be a team that beats everyone and I mean everyone. If you are not beating everyone then you are not as good as you should be from a team that should win the world cup. I get that Portugal doesn't usually come out as a world cup championship contender, and this was just another proof that they will most probably not become one.

I feel like after what happened last time around, England will probably have a big deal and they will probably play with a lot more fire in their gut and they will probably just end up winning it all this year, or at least that is what I feel like after what happened last. They already have an easy matchup anyway, so it shouldn't really be a problem for them to face easy matchup for a while until they face a team that would be dangerous.

Given all these events, the show turned out great. And if you take the final result, then it arranged for both teams - Brazil did not lose and Ecuador scored an important point. As for refereeing decisions, if this match had an important tournament value, then most likely they would have caused a scandal and a long discussion after the match.

Almost the whole match was a 10 v 10. Ecuador had a player sent off at 15 minutes of the game and Brazil had a player sent off at 20 minutes of the game. I also have to agree that if this was a more competitive match there might have been a lot of talks about controversies in that match. But overall I think it was a good game and good to see a match full of action.

By the way, it is quite interesting that despite the reduced number of players on the field, the performance was small. Usually, the fewer players on the field, the greater the score. If I had watched this game online, after those deletions, I would have bet on BTTS (and lost).

Since they have a series of three victories, such a result cannot be called an accident, they just play in a defensive manner. This result greatly aggravated the fight for 4th place. If Colombia had won, they would definitely have thrown Peru out of the fight. But now they are behind Peru and they have a match ahead of them with Argentina.

Tomorrow will be another interesting match between the group leaders - Canada vs USA! I don't even know who can win this game... Statistically, the games between these teams are not rich in goals, and the stats are about the same... Bookmakers also give about the same odds for all three outcomes of the game - 3.0/2.8/2.7... It's hard for me to predict, but I'd like to see Canada win, as they've never lost in this qualifier!

Funny how Colombia lost on home ground to Peru! I certainly like Colombia better, but Peru are out of the relegation zone for now... Colombia only have three games left to go to the World Cup too, one of which is against unbeaten Argentina, so they can't lose any more points!
It's football, it happens sometimes. The statistics show that Peru only once hit the goal of Colombia and this blow ended in a goal. Last year in the America's Cup, Peru also defeated Colombia away, but then the game was more even. But Peru's last games are more difficult than Colombia's, they have to play with Ecuador and Uruguay, I think they can lose points in both matches.

I actually believe that it was a case of Columbia getting tilted and frustrated being unable to score. The funny thing is they had 30 shots, and two of them were on target, Accuracy stonks lol Cheesy.

Anyway, Columbia really got unlucky in my opinion because they were really the better team in that match for me. Now they have made things difficult for themselves as they cannot drop any points at all.

I wouldn't say Portugal were unlucky in the qualifying group. Not wanting to deprive Serbia, but Portugal has a much better team than them, and they had the obligation to have won all the games in the group. They should never have lost the game with Serbia, at the very least draw.

The bad luck they had was that they were penalized for opening, in the first game they played with Serbia, which they could have won. A game, which is not well known why, did not have VAR.

Besides, Portugal was forced to play the Play-Off, through its own fault, since strategically it was bad for several games. I do the way he played, luck was in the Play-Off, because the teams in the group were weak and even playing poorly, there he managed to win the games.

Will Italy win? The team has it, but I doubt the coach will assemble the team in the correct way, to achieve the victory.

I actually thought that Portugal had a better team than Serbia.

If you ask me, I would say that Portugal were not really that unlucky but they played badly. Everyone had big expectations from them because it might be the last world cup of Cristiano Ronaldo but it seems like the expectations are not going to be met by the Portugal team probably.

And yes I think Italy will win. They haven't lost one match so I am hoping that they will continue in that way.
