Have you guys digged the history of your country into Football. I went through the history of my country's football. Surprised to see it getting on the FIFA World Cup, but it has withdrew themselves. This has taken place as opponents withdrew from the tournament for different reasons. Finally it hasn't participated in the tournament. The board has given different reasons for withdrawing from the tournament. First reason was the expenses, then it was lack of practice. Some had said FIFA imposing the rules banning players with barefoot. What is the real reason isn't exposed. However my country hasn't qualified after that.

piqued my curiosity, which team are you talking about?
I've heard similar reports in my country (Brazil) of poor athletes who ended up giving up on Olympic tournaments or other international championships because they didn't have the resources to play abroad, but this is the first time I've read about a confederation that couldn't play .

EDIT...
I did a little research here and found out that Colombia withdrew from the World Cup in 1986, that was before I was born...
Is that her you're talking about?
That would make sense, Colombia was to be the host of the 1986 world cup but they withdrew from those obligations due to economic reasons, I do not know how the qualifiers were held at the time, but as the host most likely they were not participating on their regional qualifiers and this meant that by not hosting the world cup they were given away as well the right to participate in the world cup.

Which is a shame as the world cup of 1986 which at the end was hosted at Mexico is probably one of the best we have seen in the modern era of football.

For the fans of Argentina that is all what matters, something that the younger fans may not know is that before Maradona it was Mario Kempes the one that was loved by the fans, and even if he is still loved the fact that Maradona won the world cup and how he did it and then he was able to reach another final in the very next edition of the world cup and that they were defeated by a controversial penalty kick makes him the indisputable best player according to Argentina fans, Messi came close to win a world cup but as you say any mistake no matter how small is very costly and as such he has not gained the recognition he deserves at his home country.

I do not know if there is something unfair here, because after all, Maradonna was head and shoulders above any of his contemporaries, which (in connection with the development of football and the leveling of the average level of players) modern stars cannot even dream of. There are much more underrated players than Messi, for example Xavi and Iniesta who won everything that can be won, each set a huge number of different records, but they don't even have one golden ball for two.
I am not denying that Maradona was that far ahead from his contemporaries, anyone that watched him play knows this is the truth, besides we know he carried that Argentina team to win a World Cup and second place on the very next edition, however Messi is also incredibly good and yet the response the fans of Argentina had towards him was the complete opposite than what we saw with Maradona, if anything it was not until he won the latest edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América in which things have improved for him.

I believe that Messi will be recognised in year’s to come by Argentina’s fans, but currently the Argentina fans are not happy because of his failure to win lots of trophy’s at the international level. However he’s one of the greatest player to play for Argentina in my opinion, but it’s also true that he failed the test of expectations set by Argentina fans.

You are right, not only for Messi, but also for a player like CR7, this indicates that the World Cup for both Argentina and Portugal will be one of the teams that will receive the most attention in the world, nor can we leave behind or forget Brazil with Neymar Jr, which, they are very hungry to win the World Cup, until now Brazil is the team that has remained undefeated in the QATAR qualifiers, Messi will not have anything easy in the World Cup, for me he will have the greatest pressure of all.

It can be said that this next World Cup will really be very interesting, especially because of football legends like Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar ...
For all of them, this World Cup will almost certainly be their last chance to win the world title and go into football immortality.
The competition will be great again and world cup will be very uncertain, with a lot of strong teams that have a chance to win the title, such as France, Italy, Spain, England, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil etc.
Very difficult mission for Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar...
It seems to me that in the last 20 years we have a trend that only European teams win titles. Will that change in Qatar?

Wow, this world cup will be remembered for a long time in my opinion because a lot of the greatest of this game like Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar are more likely going to retire after this world cup and it may not play the next world cup. At this point I just want Messi to have his name next to a world cup. The same thing can be set for Ronaldo as these two you are the best players in the world and they both have only one thing missing which is the world cup and except that they both have achieved or most everything that there is.
But it's going to be e hard work for them as a lot of other teams have better squads than them. Especially Argentina as they are are not in the best of form, to be honest.

I will not say that any Asian team will win the fifa world cup if it is hosted in Asia. However, in the 2002 world cup which was hosted in Asia (Japan/Korea), we have seen a very good performance by these two teams in their home ground. I hope asian teams will repeat the same performance in the Qatar World cup.

Actually both of Pogba'l parents  from Guniea but have settled in France, actually Pogba who was born in France can choose between defending the French or Guniea national team, but instead Pogba prefers France while his two brothers are currently defending the Guniea National Team
Defending the National Team is a form of our loyalty to country and I think, every player certainly has the desire to defend their respective country regardless of the salary they get, but obviously the salary they get from the country is not as big as what they get from the club, but of course defending the country in international tournaments is a matter of pride invaluable to a football player.
I personally hope that if Pogba, who is a in France, does not experience the same thing as what Mesut Ozil got when he was still with the German national team, which when Ozil performed well and Germany won they would treat him quite well, but when Germany lost of course ozil will be blamed and considered a turkish immigrant.

Sometimes football is ungrateful to its best players, I only remember Romario's saying that he had to train very hard to be one of the best, and sometimes fame comes for a short time to those who try hard, from In fact, Pogba's problem is somewhat difficult, in the Venezuelan team there are many players who are in Spain, Italy and Portugal, they are great but when you ask them why they do not play for their national team they say never, because they did not give them the opportunity, then this can sometimes come from a very deep problem that only those players have experienced.
Every players in a situation like this have their own personal reasons to not accept playing for their original national teams and in my opinion their decision should be respected by others because we don't know the difficulties, challenges and experiences they passed during the initial period of their lives that lead them to make that choice.

In my country there is also a professional player who refused to play for the local national team. Instead, he played for spanish national team. I don't remember exactly if it was in 2014 or 2018 world cup, but I do remember when Spain played and this specific player carried the ball my countrymen booed him on the stadium and I felt disgusted for that behavior.

Patriotism, love for the country can't be imposed to someone. It must be conquered daily with good examples coming from those who rule the society and the elder ones. But when it doesn't happen, naturally the younger generations will fell nothing for their homeland, especially when they have better examples living in foreigner countries.
At the end the players that have the option to pick more than one national team to play for should be free to play wherever they feel more conformable, just look at what happened with Messi, as far as I know he was given the option to play for Spain but he choose to play for Argentina, and what did he received most of his life? Nothing but criticism on his home country, if he had chosen to play for Spain instead I have no doubts he could have won 2 World Cups already.

Well, you hit the nail on the head, the only thing Messi lacks is to win a world cup, many say I compare with Maradona, and what everyone says is that Maradona won the world cup and Messi has not yet, I think that is a pressure that Messi has not yet been able to reciprocate, in fact at one point he said that he was going to retire from football, I think that sometimes he can have it all, but he only needs to win a World Cup in Football and we must not deny, all the teams that They classify have a very high level, mistakes are not allowed, any mistake is paid dearly.

In fact, it is obvious that it is much harder for Messi to play in the national team than in a club.
He fights for new trophies in the club every year, but in the national team he has to wait 4 years to fight for world and continental championships.
While he was a younger player he failed to win anything with the national team and the pressure grew further.
Realistically, it was much easier for Messi to win trophies at the club than at the national team because Barcelona was at its peak the best club in the world while the national team Argentina was never the best in the world and the national team always depended on his perfomances.
Also, in the memory of Argentina fans, it remained that Maradona practically brought Argentina alone to the title of world champion in 1986, and Messi still failed to do so, which is why they appreciate and love Maradona more.
Obviously World cup next year in Qatar will be Messi’s last chance to change that and surpass Maradona.

Well, my country is honestly not good at football and it shows when there are a lot of players from other countries playing in the national team. And in my country, a lot of people want to play as a striker but ultimately at the end of the day, we have to depend on our defender's goals to win the match. I don't think my country has ever qualified for the FIFA world cup and I honestly don't know when they are going to qualify for the FIFA world cup in the future as well.

That is interesting, I did not knew that a team could withdraw from the tournament after it had qualified, I suppose this was on the early days of the World Cup as otherwise I do not see how any of the excuses could make sense.

After all if the soccer association qualified their national team to the World Cup but they had no money they could easily raise it as the population will be happy to help and see their country represented at the biggest sport event around the world.

I'm pretty sure Neymar cannot retire before the World Cup. When he signed for PSG, a huge part of the fee was paid as 'sponsorship of Qatar during the World Cup 2022' clause so they could still give him the money without it being PSG's money due to FFP regulations.

I mean, he can probably still promote the World Cup without playing in it, but I'm sure that isn't what the clause meant. It looks like a quickly written fake news article.

Even if it's not fake news, I hardly think that he will retire before the WC. In fact, I think that that might be an impulsive decision from his side. Footballers have to tackle a lot of stuff, their game on the pitch, social media pressure, trolls, and also their personal life. So even they can have some hard times and maybe as a result that impulsive decision of retiring came from him (if the news is true). And if he has that clause in his contract, I don't think that he will be able to retire. Overall everything considered I don't think he will retire. Even if he does, he will make a comeback like Messi did Cheesy
i heard that he will retire after WC because feeling he is old enough and old enough to be at that level even neymar said that he will make this his last world cup according to DAZN.
on the other hand he is 34 years old now and this could really be his last trophy because it will not be possible for him to do that again.
but for now i don't think so because his performance is still needed in brazil

Well, you hit the nail on the head, the only thing Messi lacks is to win a world cup, many say I compare with Maradona, and what everyone says is that Maradona won the world cup and Messi has not yet, I think that is a pressure that Messi has not yet been able to reciprocate, in fact at one point he said that he was going to retire from football, I think that sometimes he can have it all, but he only needs to win a World Cup in Football and we must not deny, all the teams that They classify have a very high level, mistakes are not allowed, any mistake is paid dearly.

It's not fake news, he really said 2022 world cup in Qatar can be his last one. Well, it's surprising to hear that from a 29 years old soccer player who should be proud to be at the half of his career yet. There is still a lot more to be achieved by him, including in the national team, so he must really think about this decision more carefully. Anyway since now I can say if he makes the choice of abandoning the national team after next world cup, there will be a lot of criticisms* against him worldwide and especially in Brazil, what will prejudice his image on the history of soccer. And besides that there is also a lot of money involved through sponsorships that I think he wouldn't want to lose.

*Actually he is already very criticized for supposedly drawing fouls with some frequency.

Maybe these statements are the usual information noise so that Neymar can remind about himself? If I'm not mistaken, he is still the most expensive footballer, but recently everyone has been discussing Mbappe, Ronaldo, Haaland, Salah and so on, and there is little news about Neymar. He's probably just forced to draw attention to himself. He is not only an athlete but also a brand, so he is obliged to create informational reasons.

It will depend on what happens at the World Cup, while a retirement from the national team at that age will without a doubt bring criticism, do you think Brazil fans will care if he is able to win the World Cup and he plays an important role on getting it? In that case the fans will still be disappointed but they will let him walk away from the national team as a winner and respect his decision way more easily compared to any other scenario that could happen.
