Ulm managed to get a high win at BC Wolfes despite being a 5 point underdog. I somehow had a feeling they would win this but the Wolfes are always an and and down team for me.
By the way, in 1 week Ulm will play their biggest opponent ever in an exhibition where they will face the Portland Trailblazers. I wonder how and why and NBA team chose Ulm of all teams, haha.
Galatasaray also surprised when they lost at home against Czech powerhouse Nymburk last night. Especially in the beginning of the season it's not uncommon to see plenty of upsets but home losses of this caliber are more rare of course.

Even tough I'm from Lithuania, Wolves losses makes me smile. Vilnius belongs to Rytas, not for this plastic club. I even wouldn't be surprised if these club will be gone after few years.
For me most surprising result is Aris away win against Lietkabelis by 18 points. I just remind that before this they lost all their games in Eurocup and Greek league, while Lietkabelis missed all their 15 3-pointers.
Wasn't aware that Ulm will face NBA team, that's really interesting choose. But it's not strangest NBA team opponent that I saw recently. Maccabi Ra'anana - club from 2nd Israel league played 6 games with NBA teams between 2022-2023.
But in general, NBA vs Euroleague games is very rare thing nowadays.

Panathinaikos, who didn't have much trouble against Alba Berlin, faces Bayern Munich. Kendrick Nunn and Lessort stood out with their performances against Alba Berlin. Bayern Munich had a surprise win against Real Madrid and there is a lot of positivity in the team. Bayern is no longer having problems scoring. Bayern coach Gordie Herbert has opened up the two big men and is focusing on outside shooting. In this sense, the number of possessions is increasing. However, Panathinaikos plays a very effective game in front of their own fans. Even though Bayern is a surprise team, I think Panathinaikos is the team that is close to winning.

Next round of Eurocup and Championsleague is is already upon as and last night we have seen plenty or surprises.

Want to brag about my team win - Rytas beat Zalgiris again without letting them to lead for whole 40 minutes. It's crazy how team with 3x bigger budget struggle against us. Andagain, crazy atmosphere at our arena.
There is some more interesting results like Asvel winning against Monaco by 17 points or Crvena Zvezda losing 2nd time in 3 games of ABA League

Yesterday was the first game of the season in Kyoto/Japan where I live. The game was great with a nice atmosphere. I was surprised that that we signed Angelo Caloiaro who played plenty of games in the Euroleague in the past with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He had a solid game making some important 3s in a blowout win vs Saga.

Basketball world wide baby!!

That's nice! I sometimes tune in some random Japanese or Taiwan league games live on Youtube on weekend mornings and it's fun to see some familiar faces that you haven't saw for a while. Sometimes it's big surprise to see that this guy is still playing Cheesy. But man, do you really watch European basketball live living in Japan with big time difference? It's deep night for you.

I also watched Rytas vs Kaunas, and lost a small bet of 12$ on better the 3rd quarter after Rytas lead by 15 at halftime. They started the 3rd nice by scoring 5 straight but then lost the quarter, too bad. I was surprised how much they destroyed Kaunas though, didn't expect that to happen!

And yeah, I live here and still watch plenty of European basketball, haha. Maybe not the super later game like 4am here (which is 9pm in Europe) but others. Also depends on my sleeping cycle. So, you can call me a fanatic. What's nice is that I can watch NBA and NCAA in the morning or around noon though, pretty convenient.

Unfrtunately, not everything ended well for Fenerbahche. Scottie Wilbekin got season ending ACL injury. Very sad for him.
And seems that there is new rivalry between Bartzokas and Saras, after game they had heated conversation and in press conference both told what they think about each other.

Damn, 3 min on the field and the season is already over for SW, that's a tough blow for him and the team. I mean they have a deep roster to be honest but still he is an essential part of it. ACL injury always takes such a long time, really horrendous result for him.

I wonder if Fener will fill the open spot with some leftover player that is still on the market or if they go into the season with 1 less player  the roster (or fill it up with some young Turkish talent maybe).

It was a great opening by Fenerbahçe and Anadolu Efes at the same time. Cheesy I'm really happy with my team's high effort against Olympiacos. We managed to make difference in the final quarter and got a pretty satisfying win. Baldwin was the hero of this game. It was only his 2nd game with us actually. Marjanovic was also not too bad. He is 2.24m and can turn this into a really good advantage in European basketball.

Yeah the ALBA result was as expected, even though I though it might be a higher win for Pana. Sticking around with one of the top team is quite a statement for such a weak team, haha.
At lest the other German team got a win while showing off their fancy new arena in Munich. They had some problems with the clock and with the stands actually but at least they won the game against Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid. They basically abused Serge Ibaka in this "homecoming" game for him.  Grin

Yes it must be really feeling sad for Ibaka to lose to his previous team just after his transfer there. Smiley And of course Bayern Munich must be delighted to defeat the most Euroleague winner on the opening week already. It has been a long time since they were able to do this the last time.

What a great way to open arena - win against legendary club. But if we talk about Real Madrid, things looks concerning for them in beginning of season - lost Supercopa, loss against ACB newcomers and now loss against Bayern. Now I'm already not so confident that they will be in F4
Other Spanish giant Barcelona also started season with a loss against Zalgiris in Kaunas.
Now enjoying Fenerbahche vs Olympiacos games, even Jose Mourinho is watching it Cheesy.

True. Especially the loss against Leyma Coruna was more than unexpected. Coruna has been a 20 point underdog in that one, and they played at home. But always nice to have these kind of sensational wins, especially when it's a newcomer in the ACB against the best team in Europe (maybe).
But obviously Madrid is not in trouble. With this kind of roster they must for sure play a big role in the Euroleague and be a top 2 team in Spain, no doubt about that.
Well, the first gameday of the new season in the EL is done now and we saw plenty of great games so far. Looking forward for this season! So many ex NBA talent playing in Europe now, hopefully this elevates the level even further!

The last champion Panathinaikos started the new season in Euroleague really good with a 87-77 win. Alba Berlin were already overwhelmed by them on paper but they still resisted well until the end of the 3rd quarter. But there was really a serious quality gap between the sides which showed itself in the last quarter.  Smiley  Ergin Ataman's team would like to retain the championship. But getting a back-to-back title is always a tough one.

Anadolu Efes are the only team managed to do it in the last 10 years which makes our country really proud of them.

I can say that Alba Berlin's roster is one of the weakest of this season. I think their chances of making the last eight of the Euroleague are very, very low. Panathinaikos added Lorenzo Brown, Omer Faruk Yurtseven and Cedi Osman. With these additions they strengthened their existing roster even more. They may have lost to Olympiacos in the Greek Super Cup final, but they are still one of the favorites in this tournament. I think Pana will not have a hard time against Alba Berlin and it will be an easy win for them. I also think the score will be high.
Man, I think it's more likely that I will land in Mars one day than Alba reaching Top 8. Same like in most recent seasons they will fight with Asvel to not finish in last place. Paris is likely to be in this fight too. Only question today is how big Pamathinaikos win will tonight.
For me today Baskonia - Partizan is most interesting game. Zalgiris - Barcelona or Monaco - Milano also looks interesting.
Congrats with beginning of Euroleague season!

Yeah man, ALBA this year will be no competition. I think even in Germany it's gonna be tough for them to reach the top 4 with a team like this. They lost important pieces but didn't really replace them with talent that would be a good replacement, not even close. Don't know what they were thinking when they draw up this team.

Pana most likely will destroy them tonight, at least they should. If ALBA would win this we would see one of the biggest upsets of the season right on the first day, haha.

Time to move this topic up a bit. Basically, season didn't even started yet, but Unicaja already got 2 trophies. First they got Intercontinental cup (or how it's called) and this weeken they took Spanish Supercopa. In the beginning of season Real looks very vulnerable.
Today Eurocup started. 2 early games ended without upsets, while now 2 very close games are still in play. And already next week Euroleague begins!

Yeah finally the time for real basketball is back. Somehow this summer went by quickly and finally we can enjoy the best sport again.
Eurocup and Europe cup ended with some surprises as well. I actually bet on Joventut Badalona vs Hapoel TA today, with good odds around 2.8. JB started 16:5 (I already felt good) and then 10min later the score was 20:30 and I nearly throw up, haha. 25:4 run against a home tam from Spain, you don't see that every day. But thankfully JB turned things around and won at the end.  Grin

Watched a game in the Europe cup qualifiers as well, CSM Constanta vs BC Dnipro. Dnipro only plays with Ukrainian players and no imports and still managed to win away from home despite being a 20 point underdog.  Shocked

Gotta love basketball and these crazy upsets sometimes!

Yes there is a really short time left for the new season in Euroleague to start. Smiley I have been going to Sinan Erdem Sports Hall to watch Anadolu Efes' matches in this tournament so far. It is because the prices have been really cheap for one match. Like 200 Turkish Liras which only equals to nearly 6 dollars now. However after seeing the prices for season ticket now, I'm sad. It will most probably be quite expensive for a match from now on.

I will still try to go to important matches. The team I support is Fenerbahçe normally but I hope Anadolu Efes also have a good season this time.

I feel like Crvena Zvezda travelled to Russia with 1 intention, secure the bag of cash and let the Russian teams win. Sure they won yesterday but the opponent was weak as well.
But they way play played against CSKA and right now Zenit St. Petersburg is just laughable. These teams have like leftover players that don't get a spot in decent European teams. I mean you have to be desperate to play in Russia right now.

Crvena Zvezda is an Euroleague team that competes in the 2nd best league in the world while these Russian teams only play domestically, it's hilarious to look that bad against them. Guess they had clear rules to follow to get that money.  Roll Eyes
Didn't watched game, so, can't tell what happened there. But despite playing only domestically, Russian clubs still keep quite decent squads with many foreign players. Or Zenit coach Xavi Pascuali - he would find job in Euroleague without any problems, but nobody wouldn't pay that much money as Zenit pays
Finally next week basketball season will begin - we have Spanish and Italian supercups and most of main leagues starting.

Yeah that's true. Still, even though they have some foreigners, they are by for not the cream of the crop I would say.

In some European countries we have the cups starting of the season. In Germany for example the first cup round started yesterday with some minor upsets already. Cup is so much fun sometimes as 2nd tier teams hosting top tiers and look for the surprise at home.

Can't wait for the leagues to start actually. In France the ProB started this weekend, that's something else I frquently follow, haha. I really watch everything somehow.
