Hopefully we can get a bit higher to 100%.

Just curious but does anyone know why slush stopped with mergemining?

If you search back in this thread, you can find out for yourself. But iirc it is because namecoin is not supported by the devs anymore.

Speaking of merged mining, I have been balancing between Slush and Ghash. Now I have like 200 Devcoins. What the heck can you do with Devcoins?

at least the BTC to USD price is dropping enough to make some people stop using their old unprofitable hardware now

Just started mining here. My first time ever, with a Raspberry Pi and a single Antimer with 2 Gh/s.  Grin Grin Grin

Congratulations!!! A journey of TerraHash, begins with but a single GigaHash (or something like that).

New record hashing power at Slush's?

Today the hash power is 5785484.687 but I have seen 58+... is this record territory?

Just wondering if the new SP30's coming online might be an explanation.

It seems because of difficulty is going up and in the same time now bitcoin price is going down AntMiner S1 will be worthless to run sooner rather then later...
Only good possibility is in cold winter to overclock them if your electricity is "free"... you can use them as electrical heater in the same time...  Roll Eyes

You can upgrade your S1 to be just as fast and same efficiency as the S3 for .46 btc.

I forgot about this option, because I did not like it. Not taking in mind that it will ship in 20/9 maybe, I`m located in eastern Europa and fastest I something receive from China is 3weeks, sometimes even almost 2 mount with economy shipping.
But, what there is in package, how I understand I can buy russbery pi those boards to run and not disassemble S1. And mine idea what I concern about is that S3 has shell what directs air. S1 does not, its huge difference in my mind.

Free power or not if there is no work then no one is making money.

From their home page:

The sale of S1 Upgrade Kit is 0.46 BTC each including international shipping, which starts on September 20th or earlier.

Now do your math...The next ~25% diff. increase in a few days plus 2 more until you get your kit (assuming on time delivery 9/20). So diff. at about 29,000,000,000
Daily BTC before expenses around 0.0076 then, after power cost (10c Kwh) thats $2.98/day...for about 2 weeks then next diff. increase.

You are paying about $250 (using today's low exchange rate) to mine slightly more than double than you get with an over clocked
S1 now. OK, some power savings but not huge. So the question is how much did you pay for the S1? If you got it for next to nothing
this upgrade can be a good deal. If you bought if for over $250 like a month ago you are now in for $500 and will likely only break even (if at all)
after 6 months or more.

If BTC goes over $650 again things look a lot better. Over $1,000 and hurrah!

I realize the economics behind it all i was just saying.  I guess i forget sometimes i dont pay for power. Wink I use solar / power and cooling from my server room at work.

It all adds in there, but most people I know sold a lot last month so they could buy at this month's prices. Around July 24 we got a good indication of low prices that would start and stay through August. Most of us sold. It's almost time to start the buying again. And I'm ready. Once the buying starts, it will stimulate the market with all the buying transactions of the non-hoarded coins and that will help drive the price back up, mabey even higher than it was.

I was looking thru the blockchain last night and there were a LOT of big $$ transactions, I'm talking 5 and 6 figure, a lot more than I've ever seen before.

Bob

Good job Bob, it looks like some big players were creating a quick flash crash, buy selling so much at the same time so they could buy today/tomorrow at a really cheap price. The ritch keep getting ritcher it seems, they don't care who or what they hurt. It would be nice to figure out who they are and get VOD all over those guys!!!!

I think the " summer doldrums " MAY have something to do with this.  After all my feeling is the the " young" crowd is a moving force behind this and they are all
at the beach partying.  Once labor day comes around and "vacations are over I think it will rebound. ( I hope ) but unless BTC goes high and stays high, home mining will be in trouble.

It's suppost to stay around $500+/- throughout August(but could go as low as $375). If you follow the market, selling time was about 3 weeks ago. After people have a chance to buy low it will go up again.
