Hello,
it looks that I can't receive emails from slush and that other people here are having the same problem.
In the last weeks I noticed this kind of email problems at many different sites.
Let me explain what had been the reason and what might be the reason here as well.
Many mailservers will reject an incoming mail transfer (SMTP session) when the host from which
the connection is initiated does not have a (correct) reverse mapping. A mailserver without reverse
mapping is assumed to be a SPAM site.
How to check is this is the problem with slush?
Someone with a more relaxed mail server (not caring about reverse mappings) should have a look
at the raw SMTP headers and search for a line
Received: from [a.b.c.d] (helo=host.domain-name.xxx)
If this message is read by slush or anyone having access to the mailserver, you can also try to connect to
a service like
http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-hostname to get the (external) IP.
Then check (Unix syntax) if there is a reverse mapping for that IP:
$ host a.b.c.d
When you get an answer like
Host d.c.b.a.in-addr.arpa. not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)
this is the problem.
You should then approach whoever is in charge for this IP address to setup a reverse mapping.
Ralf
