Do I need to do anything different to make a stratum miner version of CGminer to work?

I enter in the URL, same settings has cgminer 2.7.5 and any version with stratum support doesn't connect at all.

Poor impulse control.
Odd Question and most likely a simple answer.

I understand that the 210,000 block has come and gone and that the rewards for blocks are now only 25 coins rather then 50.  So simple math should show that my work reward is now halved.

......

So can anyone explain why my rewards have dropped 68% past the normal halving?  Or is this just a case that after a week, everything will balance out?

yeah, that's just the nature of the network.  In the past 24 hours you've been below normal, but you will have days that are way above normal too.  That's why slush has the "luck" stats on the stats page.   The 24hr luck on the stats page is at about 65%, which would likely explain the difference...

It's also the nature of slush's reward method. It has much higher variance than other methods.

I understand that the 210,000 block has come and gone and that the rewards for blocks are now only 25 coins rather then 50.  So simple math should show that my work reward is now halved.

IE:  2778 mHash/s
      3438908 Difficulty
      0.405 Coins per day
      0.033 Coins per hour

But in the last 24 hours, I have seen less then half of my normal reward for work.  I was lucky enough to have my threshold sent almost exactly at midnight  and from past experience Slush has always been spot on with my reward calculator. So I do not understand why my currently standing rewards are sitting at:  0.049 after 5 hours of work   With the above figures, that have held true for the last 8 months, I should be at 0.15.

Now these figures do not include "Unconfirmed Reward", cause those have never in my experience showed add to the total.  The above math has always been with "Confirmed Reward", and I could always forecast payouts within an hour or two.

I can understand a 50% cut cause of the 210,000 block, but im currently sitting at 85% cut after the 210,000 block.

So can anyone explain why my rewards have dropped 68% past the normal halving?  Or is this just a case that after a week, everything will balance out?

Natural variance. You should not judge anything using so short time frame.

tinman, pool isn't giving transaction fees to the finder of the block, but fees are calculated proportionally for Stratum miners. So you didn't miss anything and installing stratum miner still gives you the benefit of tx fees :-).

Yay I found my second block!
Sadly I wasn't using stratum because diablominer doesn't do it and guiminer has never worked well with my two gpus.

I've spent hours trying to figure this out since slush posted the extra payout on the 27th.  Guess I will abandon diablominer and find another because it will happen again in another 6 months.

Slush's pools is most profitable for me, so I really appreciate work done by him, but I always want for something better :-)

That's the spirit of innovation!
There's always room for improvement, so don't overlook flaws. Revel in finding them.

Speaking of which, Slush, do you think you'll be capitalizing on the LiteCoin frenzy and start up a LTC pool to run alongside BTC?
Something like two tabs that replace the single My Account. My LiteCoin and My BitCoin?
I've been using OzCoin, but it'd be nice to simplify things.

So you find it absolutely okay that to get this information you have to go to statistics and scroll down?

Although I agree that website need some improvements, checking miners status by count of submitted shares on profile page is really trivial.

Quote
like lack of not averaged workers speed

It is in HTML comments on profile page (giggling). It is a bit inaccurate, so I hide it for common users, because of never ending questions "why I see hashrate XXX when my miners says YYY".

Quote
withdrawals by something like "1.000001222" btc

One never meet all requirements. There were times when pool paid rounded balance to two decimal places (the rest left on the profile for next payout). People were complaining that I'm scamming them for xxx satoshis :-/.

no configuration examples

This is miner dependent, every miner has its own howto. You need just pool URL (mentioned in bold on homepage), worker name and password.

no NMC mining with no namecoin wallet

This is feature, not a bug. I don't want to store hundred thousands of coins on the pool because I don't have a wallet to paid them out. Pool != bank. I'm still in loss thanks to Linode hack back in March.

Thanks for answers! Everything makes sense.
About config file: I remember that setting up miner for btcguild was MUCH easier because of that small page: https://www.btcguild.com/getting_started.php I even have to ask some questions on forum (not sure what questions, URL of the pool maybe).

About payouts: I set payouts to be equal 1.00 (equal to one BTC) and expected that payouts would be 1 BTC to not create mess in history/wallet.

Moving unpaid balance or at least the score to the site's header would not be a big deal, right?

You don't need to go to the stats page for that its on your home page, but it doesn't work with stratum Sad

Users are overlooking the fact, that everything (username, workername, password) is case sensitive ;-)

I've updated the DaCoinMinster's GreaseMonkey script which tweaks the pool website.
It shows some additional stats and also makes workers' status check even more trivial than it is out of the box.

Now it calculates miner's hashrate and some pool averages properly taking in account different block rewards.

It can be taken here:
http://rulezz.com.ua/98553.user.js

Also DaCoinMinster might want to review it and update at userscripts.org?

I updated to 2.9.5 and it still has the same problem.  But I discovered that if I use the same worker username and pass as the other miner is using it works.  Is there a reason we can't use multiple workers with stratum?

You can use as many workers as you wish. Btw all this indicates you're using wrong worker and/or password. Can you PM me both?

If you have a seperate worker for each rig you would know when one of them was out of wack because it would show no shares on the current round or an extremely low score if you caught it durring the same round it stopped.

Please update to latest cgminer, it fixes some race conditions.

Edit: Do you have correct username/password?

Hi, Slush!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE  add possibility to quickly understand if my miners works fine right now on your website. I missed recently that my miner stopped for 2 days.
I visit mining.bitcoin.cz almost every day and overlooked that nothing works. Now the only way to get actual state is to go to https://mining.bitcoin.cz/accounts/profile/, scroll down to "Last share at", remember the timestamp than go to https://mining.bitcoin.cz/stats/ and compare "Current round started at:" + "Current round duration:" with the remembered timestamp. I have no idea where is the UTC time. (It is not London's time and obviously it is not local time)

It's almost impossible to understand current state of workers. Please fix it. Make current worker status always visible. And add timezone setting. BTC guild also send email when speed suddenly reduces.

PLEASE :~(
