Other than this coins, I would suggest holding some Ethereum. BTC and ETH are like the bluechips of the cryptocurrencies. You want to hold about 50% of your portfolio with bluechips and the remaining 50% with other alt coins. Don't worry too much. You just need to take a look at top 100 on coinmarketcap.com, all 100 coins on top 100 are also good as well so you can choose 1 or 2 coin out of 100 coins to invest in. For me I'll choose IOTA and XRP or maybe LTC more 
do some research, try not to place all the eggs in 1 basket. with $ 7k, I will make most of my investment is Ethereum, and others can customize, like ARK, ETC or XRP, I'm sure it will work fine 
I think 2018 will pleasantly surprise us with the growth of some crypto-currencies, as for me the most profitable investment is the ripple now . But do not invest in 1-2 currencies. Separate your budget into 5-7 parts and evenly invest.

I heard Rise is more profitable to stake than ark.. Also, much more room for price growth. Reasons to invest in Rise are Blockchain Incubator, Mobile app store, fast and easy to use wallet, staking, low market cap. It has a huge potential. I would seriously consider investing in Ripple, Stellar or Ethereum, Big profit in long term and very useful in the future.
Focus on investing on waves in ripple because these two has a great future! It will really become profitable and useful.
If you didn't invest in top crypto currencies, do it first of all. Spend for it 50% of your capital, than spend 30-40% for projects, that are already have product, but not popular yet, and for perspective ICO's what's left.
I really think Cardano, Iota, Eos and Electroneum will be successful. This is just my speculation but Electroneum in particular will probably reach 1-5$ in march judging from its hype and activity. It hasn't have its 'mobile mining' up yet but the support from the community is already unbelievable.
I think one of the best and the most porfitable coin will be Ethereum. In 2018 its price can growth very high and give you huge profit. It is my opinion and i proposu you try
The market is ruthless, you need to know each coin yourself, and then hold it firmly, instead of blindly seeking help from others.
As of now even I have started doing more research specifically to the new ICO coins especially because if you can get hold of the right coins the market in 2018 will be growing manifolds. And especially in pre ICO - ICO stage you can get the coins really at lesser rates.
So keep reading and understand which is the best coin where one would like to invest.
Would go for ARK and Waves! Raiblocks is also a good option, and XSPEC for high risk/reward.
