There is no doubt about this and where the unfavorable market conditions have made it difficult to raise softcap for most ICO's which make them eventually fold up and are all in the same tag as scam by some persons

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...
That's why on 2018 is the biggest scam ICO ever. But don't worry about it, I mean it's still like 20% is truly ICO. The great ICO assessed from many aspects, like the background of their team, the roadmap, also the innovation they created to solve a problem. So, you must read the whitepaper, ANN Thread to get to understand the purpose of the project they created. Don't forget to check the ICO rating too like on ICObench, ICO rating, ICO marks, etc. If identity of their team is clear and you understand with the project they created I think you don't need to hesitate to invest with them.

One of the biggest problems is most of these people running the ICOs don't have the required business skills to create these projects.
They shill away and they think they can just get the ICO money and make it all happen, but often it's not that easy.

I dont think its actual sum in spite of the fact that I dont know the genuine answer. I think just a couple of ICOs are genuine tricks where they just set out to take cash and run. The other is genuine however just they can not achieve publicity and delicate top. On the off chance that they are trick, they will keep running with the cash in the event that they can nkt achieve delicate top however in all actuality, there are numerous ico restore the cash in the event that they dont achieve the delicate top.

As I read the statistic, about 60% of them are scams. 20 % are pretty successful and 20% die after the start because of hard competition in the market    Undecided

There are so many ico scams right now that are spread here in the forum so it's going to be soon enough to get rid of it at the forum and we're bounty hunters here in the forum to earn the right way.

I don't agree that 80 percent of these are scammers... Huh I think that less projects simply do not collect money because of the collapse of the market, closer to the autumn the situation will change.
Do not despair, this moment must wait...

It seems to me that not 80%, but 95%. I'm increasingly confronted with scammers. But I hope that the market will go up and quality projects will become much more.

Such high percent of scams is not so good for the trends, I am afraid of the possibility about appearences of new scams that will be smarter and it will be harder to find them.

In a smart contract. ICO conditions are formulated, may contain vulnerabilities or deliberate hidden conditions. Quite often, the presence of even limiting norms is better than their complete absence. This position is justified by the fact that the lack of legislative regulation predetermines the expansion of the limits of the discretion of law enforcement agencies.

Dear all,
Yes, I have ever listened a lot about this. Many scams on ICOs. I am not sure about the the number 80%. But we must find out the potential ICO, good coins for investing. That is main purpose. If we are right, we will be successful.

I do not think that figure is not really the nearest estimated number of scam projects ,but there are truly many ICO projects that are scams ,and half above are true ICO projects, so we must pick our lucky ICO projects , because  it is hard to find and join a real ICO project.

i think 40% of the project are scam, 80% are the fail projects. this projects are going to fail and change the token amount of allocation. some of them are too late to list the exchange at the market.

go with your gut.

We're building a security token which will be used in the funeral industry. Just created this profile, but you want to invest in companies which have an excellent product, which is able to go live and be useful now. Not 5 years from now. invest in security tokens backed by assets and revenue and projects you'll earn dividends on. Invest in projects with MVPs either live or beta testing (shows they have skin in the game, are putting in work and committed) not just an idea and whitepaper.

Without going into detail (wait until official release) our project will revolutionize the entire funeral industry and enable families to plan a funeral from beginning to end. We're making it so they don't have to deal with salesperson's or spend the day dealing with the industry; worldwide. We're launching a beta in NYC for testing.

Blockchain uses include
- local and global death certificate registry
- obituary services & lookup
- Memorization and legacy saving
- and much more

We're working on the MVP and haven't launched our site or ICO site. If you're curious to know more; follow us on twitter for updates.

Message me on here if you have any questions. We'll be posting more information soon.

From what I see on the current market, I would suggest that not only 80% of the ICOs are scam, but more, I think about 90% of all the ICOs seems to be a scam. Most of the projects don't do anything after token release...
