I also believe that. for now, it is very difficult to choose an ICO that will be successful and there is no sure way to choose a quality ICO. even most ICO fails also end up with a scam. if it continues this way, the fear is the loss of interest of investors to participate in ICO and it is very bad for the world of crypto.

I hope with the advancement of time, ICO selection to be tightened again, or there is a way to ensure the quality of ICO. I think it's very important to restore investor confidence.

Now there are a lot of scam projects, but they are less than 80%.  I advise you to be careful when choosing ICO.

First, your post is posted in the wrong section.
Second, most ICO projects are just hype, which is why countries are adopting laws to restrict ICO.

sorry...
new to the forum... what section should it go under? ill try to move it
I really have not heard or read such numbers at weddings about ico or this digital information, but I think that's the wrong statistical number and maybe completely different. The reality is even reversed

I agree that the majority of ICO scam, but I do not dare to declare in percentage figures. Sometimes people give different insights to the term scam. Some people say that the definition of a scam is a project that does not distribute tokens after the success of ICO. I am working in this field for a while now and  sometimes I had a really bad experience with some platforms that are making mess at the crypto market and  very few of the them have qualitatively created processes

Everyone is subject to his/her opinion, before I buy into your ideology, I will first examine the circumstances that surrounds your ideology. What I understand here is that most project did not plan to fail, but because of the competitions in the cryptowolrd has made them seems to scam people. Every people have different views and opinions, therfor we cant really say that most ico's are scams because not all people do experience on what op have experience

People should understand that free cheese is only in a mousetrap. We are guilty of so many frauds. In pursuit of easy money, we do not notice the scam. I am sure that with the introduction of laws the situation will change for the better. Better to be cautious on investing your money. Know the project very well and the people behind it. And learn everything about it before jumping in to it. Icos is being used to lure money by some people, so let's not fall victims to that

Well to be frankly i agree with this but in order to bet that 20% you need to do some research so you can hit that percentage and also it is very hard to find a good ICO now a days so proceed with caution

These are not true figures, people say so because they have not yet paid the tokens, but with a great delay, it all costs this, I think this figure is close to 60%!

I think not all ico is a scam, maybe even the number is less than 45%, I do not know where you get that data, if we see now, many ico are very successful and phenomenal

I think the odds of 80% are still low. I think at least 90% of ICO projects are fraud, and only the remaining 10% can be successful! I think investing in ICO is like buying lottery tickets!

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...
total agreeth with this. many scammers see the chance for fast money in crypto industry and very fast build a nice whitepaper, hire some well-known faces, pr infamous press to attract more participants after that they do nothing and leave project got to die and continues to create a new one.

But this does not stop people from further testing themselves in this direction. This is a revolution in the crypt and brings both profit and new players who are able to influence and create competition to certain tops.

But why i almost participate for too many ICO's then all of that was 100% legit and i never experienced a scam ICO.

I believe on that but just choose a good ICO to prevent from scam.

I think there are some reason why some ICO do scam participants because it is not yet successful and they don't want to continue it and it cause some issue into scam.

No, this is not true that 80% of the ICOs are a scam. But I say only 5% ICOs are the flop because of their soft cap is not reaching. And, after this, they are returned back the investors money back to their wallet.

It is only our responsibility to find out whether some ICO project is worth participating because there are so many fake ones in the market that you do need to spend time and research before joining them.

I think 80% is too little. ICO is too risky. I do not want to participate. I think the investment currency is more ideal.

I probably would have given more percent. Because in the end, many more ico will be scam. And only the projects that are necessary to society remain.
