With November here temps are starting to drop... now is when my little heat machines doubly pay for themselves Smiley

Haven mining still seems to be best amazingly, not sure how that works with CNv8 making monero diff drop.. a little worrying tbh.
Funny right?
I also observed the immediate smackdown of profitability on ZCR earlier. The coin spiked up 70%... Profitability went up accordingly for a few minutes. Just the time needed for the big FPGA farms to retarget and flatten the coin. Amazing.

Hey philipma1957

I noticed that you bought the Taichi x399 board, I bought a few of the same boards with a 1900x TR and I have been having a very hard time trying to get a M.2 to pcie 4x adapter working in any M.2 slot. (testing with a 750ti)

I'm running windows 10 and I have tried several types of powered risers and cables, tried swapping the cpu to another 1900x, swapping motherboard to another x399 asrock taichi, swapping ram, tried every bios available, a few other nvidia drivers, swapping the graphics card.
and still no luck.

Its got me stumped.

I have gotten the card to work, randomly but It will always crash or freeze and reset the driver, on a few occasions I have had the card working and hashing for 2 hours even and I think I have got it and it will freeze or I will reboot and the card will not be detected.

has to be one of the hardest things to get working with this board. It seems that it will not run a gpu off the m2 slot via a adapter. I'm thinking its a bios issue, not sure what to try next.

Have you tried a M.2 to pcie x4 adapter on your x399 taichi mobo ?

My AR-15 ID's itself as a toaster. Want breakfast?
I've been watching the steady price increase on XMR;  looks like the "powerdraw" and less asic insta-dumping is starting to take effect.

Things are so dead with alt coins.

MY L3+  are working well for heat.

I use watts mod

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitmain-l3-voltage-control-toolfree-3546316

700 watts earns about 2 bucks on nicehash.

so 700 x 24 = 16.8 say 17 kwatts a day or 1.70  with 10 cent power.

about 30 cent profit and free heat.

This way, we can point "irrelevant" ASICs like L3+ or D3s to Prohashing to "mine" our choice of coins - avoiding those investment turning into door-stoppers.

In summary, any old ASICs (as long as they are not power hoggers) can be revived and sent to work at Prohashing gulag camp...... and get any coin we want (well almost any coin)

D3's ARE power hogs - but still profitable if you have cheap enough power.
Don't have to use prohashing to get whatever coin you want - can just use an exchange.

Very glad to see that from Zcash. That's a well thought out and eloquent statement. Really hope more coins keep going this way.

IMO Zcash is doing it right;  Concentrate on the core functionality of the coin before getting concerned with the smaller details.  Look at all of the coins that have fell victim to the ASIC witch hunt.  They have wasted development time to appease a vocal minority.  Not saying that switching algos for asic resistance is bad, but there are only a few coins that done it that actually already have a pretty stable ecosystem.  Actually scratch that, there is only one coin, Monero.  Looking at the coinmarketcap top 100, the only coins to alter their algos are Monero, Bitcoin Gold (does a bitcoin fork even count?), SIA (switched to make their own asics exclusive!), and Electroneum (who then switched back to an asic friendly algo).

Its not even a large development effort wtf are you talking about, if just changing algos is a huge part of your development  budget or taking time away from improvement of functionality then you development efforts are doomed to fail most likely.

Electroneum and BTG have shitty developers so its no surprise they had fork issues.  They have not delivered any of the stuff they promised and the algo changes they attempted were minor efforts at the most, remember they are not even coming up with the algo changes, they just copied other coins changes.

Now the money is free, and so the people will be
bring on ZCash GPU mining Smiley  Now that was some profitable mining when it came out for a couple weeks

I almost did all of that, but I couldn't load that amd.txt after reloading the miner.
After watching the tutorial you provided, I will give it another try. Also I might change the intensity to 896 or higher, I remember I was doing this to claymore-xmr for higher hashrate..

@citronick, you're still mining V7 on monero ocean? How's it going?
MoneroV8 is no go for my RX series because of the hashrate drop and higher consumption...so right now I'm doing eth on ethermine, but I'm thinking of switching to monero.

MoneroV8 ended up not a good option for me - see my last post - the devs had overdone things for miners - less hash, more power.... reminds me of ETH mess. So even monero.ocean is out for me, due to power constraints.

All this was a blessing in disguise, I continued mining XHV (Haven) since below a dollar, and cashed out about 1100 coins when it touched $2.40s recently.

Decent pool at "haven.miner.rocks"

Thank you for reply.

Looks like xmr-stak or xmrig does not get me the same hashrate that I have with claymore xmr. Claymore gives me 4950 per rig and xmrig gets me 3800-3900 with the same overclocking settings on SMOS.
It's odd..
For now I'm sticking with ethermine, not a big earn but hoping the price will go up in a few months..

With XMR stak, I was able to increase my hash rate by 25 27% using this tutorial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ty93_0CKtI&feature=youtu.be

However, I only have one AMD rig. So it wasn't a huge job.

Bottomline: With this tool, my AMD rig is still more profitable by mining XMR then ETH.

You can still use MoneroOcean very effectively. You just need to setup your config files properly to consider power draw.

Example (figures not real, just for illustration):

Your CN_haven/heavy hashrate is 1000 and power draw is 100W.
Your CNv7 hashrate is 1500 and power draw is 120W.
Your CNv8 hashrate is 1300 and power draw is 140W.

You need to adjust your hashrate indications in the algo config file to reflect the profitability, aka you need to normalise your hash.

In the algo file, leave CNv7 hashrate estimate at 1500, increase your heaven/heavy by 20% to 1200 and decrease v8 by 20% to 1040.

Now MoneroOcean will only tell your rig to mine CNv8 if the expected gain is at least 40% over heavy/heaven or 20% over v7.

Makes sense?

I would do that, but I'm with smOS...

Not a very good time for AMD rigs over smOS right now...

I mean I tried to edit the config.txt on Xmr-Stak with higher intensity with no luck.. I think that is the issue with my low hashrate compared with claymore-xmr hashrate.
SMOS sucks. Take control of the OS and install the AwesomeMiner Linux client and start mining that way. I've converted all of my SMOS installs into 100% AwesomeMiner controlled/managed now.

All you have to do is rename the bash scripts in /root/start.sh and /root/xminer.sh to stop it from ever messing with your stuff.

Interesting this prohashing pool. So, I can mine ethereum there with my AMD rigs and be paid in whatever coin I want... sweet.
In your previous experience, regarding the hashrate, coin you mined fees etc, what was the best coin to exchange into? I mean a well-known coin, like btc, ltc, eth, etc, btg, zec etc.

You know they will add cryptonite? What would it be? V7 or V8? If it will be V7 will be nice for me, because I can still use Claymore-XMR which is still compatible with V7..

The devs of Prohashing are very active (2 brothers). They have been around a long time and worked hard to get the prohashing working -- it was unstable when it started several back.

There are currently testing the planned CN pool to work with CN8 and C7 coins.... but in the forum you can see that they are busy for the ZEC upgrade tonight.

I have a few P106 rigs that mines ETH fulltime with low intensity for now, and Prohashing converts them to BinanceCoin and auto withdraw to Binance.

This way, we can point "irrelevant" ASICs like L3+ or D3s to Prohashing to "mine" our choice of coins - avoiding those investment turning into door-stoppers.

You might want to give SRBMiner a try. I am getting nearly the same hashrate and just slightly more power consumption than xmr-stak 2.5.1 was doing on CNv7, and way better on both parameters than it did on CNv8. ANN thread is here in the mining section and fairly active.

Have you tried SRBMiner on R9 290/390?
