I agree that the search button is not a very good tool. I think that you should look at the desired topic in the old branches and create a new one. The world does not stand still and everything can change. Although often good answers are just in the old branches, so the question is very controversial. I remember at the university our washing machine also often broke down. There was not enough time for washing and even more for repairs. By the way, when there was a need, I turned to the guys from this site https://www.customessaymeister.com/blog/tips-on-how-to-write-a-classification-essay for help. They wrote a great essay and did everything quickly, inexpensively and efficiently!

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
Normally, the Advanced Search feature is going to result much more efficient than the default search, although you have to play around with the parameters a bit. For example, since @piggy’s bot stopped working (I know that there are other available alternatives), this is how I use the Search function to locate references to me:

That delimits the scope of the searches to the last five days, sorting by the most recent entry.

A few things to consider:
-   Very recent references take a while to be indexed and displayed when using the search function. This means that the most recent references will need a few minutes (or longer) to display in the search results.

-   If you seek terms that are rather popular (i.e. scam), and leave the default 0..9999 day interval, the results displayed will be oldish. This happens when there are many results, and it is best to either refine the search further, or delimit the date range to say the last 300 days.

-   Delimiting the boards can also be pretty handy.

-   When I can’t find a specific post of mine (or someone else’s), delimiting "by user" tends to do the trick.

-   I tend to leave a search tab open for days. Sometimes it loses it’s search context when refreshing the result screen, and displays something totally unrelated. If this happens, go back to the Advanced Search parameter screen, change something, and search again (bear in mind that the default Search Order may be reset back "Most relevant topic first", which I normally change back to "Most recent topic first").

If using Google Search, searchers should include the keyword 'bitcointalk.org' to avoid phishing sites, such as this one below
It is terrible if you find something seems to be interesting one scam/ phishing sites
If you add the ".to" site to your hosts file, your browser will flat out refuse to open it. You can completely eliminate the risk of being phished by this site in <30 seconds. I'll quote myself below from the last time this was discussed with instruction on how to do so. Alternatively, if you are using Windows, your hosts file can be found in "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\".

See the following site for instructions on how to open your hosts file on Windows, Mac or Linux: https://support.rackspace.com/how-to/modify-your-hosts-file/

Add the following line to the bottom of your hosts file:
Code:
0.0.0.0 bitcointalk.to

Agree, forum search is very low quality as all forum searches on entire WWW. Google solves that allowing searching almost any website through it.
This is best tip how to use forum search in reality but tx for guide.
Basically if anyone use the forum search option properly then in my opinion its obviously going to be helpful for him/her. Its quite easy to find the exact things by following proper guideline where many of us don't know about its exact use.

I tried to explain the whole guideline for our Community  user to make the best use of search option. Maybe they will be pretty much familiar with this very soon.

Until now I still use google to search for threads and add the bitcointalk.org at the end of the name of the topic I want to search. Example is that I want to search for a thread like "how to create a wallet on myetherwallet bitcointalk.org" then I'll start looking for the results if there is a thread like that. IMOO it works fine with me and most of the results are from bitcointalk.org forum.

Personally, I used https://edubirdie.com/plagiarism-checker and https://spinbot.com/ when checking plagiarism case(s), which is 100% good reports on my report history. Today, I have one pending plagiarism case who used text spinning.
Thanks, these are the kind of tools I have been looking for. I will try checking them out... Most of the plagiarism checks esp the free versions have limits of only 1000 words

You could use duckduckgo.com too.

You can use duckduckgo.com as well. By not tracking your searches and not tracking you anywhere you visit on the internet, I would recommend using it instead of google.
They use the same codes as google. Just enter the terms you want to search followed by:

Code:
site:https://bitcointalk.org

So if you want to search for satoshi, it would look like this:
Code:
satoshi site:https://bitcointalk.org
satoshi

You can search in specific sections too. You just need to put the right number of the section.

Altcoin discussion is number 67.
Code:
site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67
Ethereum

Bounties is number 238
Code:
site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238
pay me to

Development & Technical Discussion is number 6
Code:
site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6
To find discussions about fee on Technical Discussion fee site:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6

Do you guys know how to use the search button to find plagiarism post?
You don't need to use the search button from the forum for that. Just put the text you want to check in quotation marks and google it.
Here is an example of one of your posts:

This method works but I think it needs to add site:URL to find the post only in bitcointalk forum.

What I want to know is the other tricks of using our search button to find plagiarism just like going to his post history and shows all post(Show all doesn't work or no feature like this) and manually find the plagiarism.
This Show all feature is also my problem I can't find this feature when trying to check the post history.

Also what I wan't to know is how to show all his post history in one page just like before that it has a feature like "all" button but right now I can't find this.

If you are reading a topic and use search button during that time then search engine will search on that topic only.
So if you search something others which isn't relate with topic then you will not get any result.

I believe this does not only apply to topics/threads. Also on boards. If you use the search button when on a specific board, you would only get responses related to that board. Only when on the home page can you search the entire forum.

Just in case no one loves you, I love you 3000.
Just asking this because it looks like it can be use to find plagiarism post?
It does. You can also find topics that will help you take advantage on using search feature. Sample is [How-to] the Search button.

Personally, I used https://edubirdie.com/plagiarism-checker and https://spinbot.com/ when checking plagiarism case(s), which is 100% good reports on my report history. Today, I have one pending plagiarism case who used text spinning.

EDIT:
^ Plus, @Pmalek technique will also help you.

Lately I'm been using the forum's search function since the keywords that I'm using don't show up in Google searches anymore.
Yeah you can get the full advantage of forum search option. Its really helpful to complete your investigation about anything before starting a new topic.

Specially for new members it can help them in many ways. They can know easily about forum, users background, remarkable stories and many more. Just what they need to know is the proper use of search option.

Mine was different, sometimes if I used the forum search bar it just direct me to many links and will have hard time clicking every link. So the easiest way is searching on google, and it's hell more than easy.

Though as for the newbies, maybe they don't easily see the search bar, maybe we should make it flashy and glittery for them and to avoid repeated threads.  Tongue

Maybe because of no one gave guidelines like this how to use it properly.Even myself just uses google search with bitcointalk keyword in it because I feels forum search button is very slow and not accurate.
True the forum search is slow sometime especially if you use the advanced search feature. It may sometimes even end up displaying a page with a message that server is taking too long to respond which can be so annoying if you are in a hurry to such.
Searching of google with the format DdmrDdmr has suggested is probably the best way at the moment.
