Gamble responsibly
Don't you all think that in the course of we trying to show off this kind of winnings to friends, families, colleagues etc, we end up drawing known and unknown enemies to ourselves?
All I know is that we should stay as private as much as we can be. If possible that people will not know that you won so big, it is better that way, but there are instances that these people will surely know, especially in Nigeria that people are using betting agent to bet. If possible they know, we just have to be very careful. Sometimes, we may want to be private, but before we know, we already see what we do not expect on news, such as these type of big winning. There are some people that won big like this in the past that are leaving okay now, but by been careful too. Even if you do not disclose this at times, there is no way you can hide to people that you have become rich, the richness will later show itself in you that people can see, but it is better that way.

As I have always said, the biggest risk is to showcase your success with people around and you think they are happy my dear this is highest risk you are taking, I don't believe in sharing my story with people around me or show online how perfectly you are living with your families as a matter of fact,  people don't immediately you start succeeding in life the moment you acquired more enemies to yourself.
Congratulations to him.

Well let's start with the religion angle to this story....

First of all, true Muslims are not allowed to gamble... so I do not know why he would go to the mosque to pray, if it is not allowed in their religion.  Roll Eyes

Secondly, winning a large amount of money always carry a risk... but it will be very difficult for someone to hold back the urge to tell it to the world, when it happens. (The adrenaline is pumping and people are in a very good mood)

I think he will be in trouble, when his religious leaders find out that he was gambling.... so they might tell him to give it to charity.

I carefully read the reference pic given the op but it's not a common matter but I can strongly recommend that it's super miracle for him.
From what I understand from the news, he had bet on a few football games, so luck is with him Caught so he bet on every game. And he gives 800N with bonus  he gets totally $51363>>>>>>

He wons all bellow bets

Leipzig -Vs Hertha B S C with ods 1.43
Tottenham Hotspur -Vs Everton with ods 1.50
Strusburg Vs Lille  with ods 2.35
Atlanta Vs Sussacio with ods 1.68

I am confused about how the man gets that $51363 with just these odds...  sounds like a hoax to me.. but well who knows...

He should keep it private or request the betting site to not show his face or post his information especially if coming from a poor family and neighborhood, he can give a portion of his earnings to friends, relatives, or those who are in needy but in a discreet way, by showing his earnings, he will put himself in trouble and his family and people will say bad words to him when he declines to give them a portion of his winning and he will be a subject of talks whenever they see him, this is the bad part of showing himself after he won a big amount.

True, any financial gains should be kept private.  If kept on an open tab, it will gather too much attention in both a good and ill-mannered.  It can also put himself and his family in danger since the human heart is filled with jealousy and greed.

did we know what is was the winning bets/teams he played? of course it's everything confirmed no rigged match etc?

The news is incomplete, just a few sentences and a random incomplete bet slip ( possibly photoshopped  Grin.)

It seems miraculous to me too, how someone could become the owner of so many dollars by completing just a few bets. Moreover, it has been publicized in the head column of a local newspaper. However, if God keeps good luck then no one can stop it.

Big is relative to his bills and general outgoings, I know people who will spend $51k in only a few months and go only a little way for their needs.  'multi-millionaire' might be true nominally but I wonder if his bills are small enough to feel like millions.  I agree generally he should just put it away and wisely, remove debt from his mortgage or similar lifetime assets or debts.
I do wonder about the prayers in thanks to a gamble, to me personally its fine to be grateful smart even but I thought in that religion it wasnt allowed to gamble maybe it varies alot on interpretation.  I consider sports gambling especially this kind of long shot of bet to be quite harmless but again this varies how its done.

I was going to ask about Muslim’s and gambling.

I know no pork allowed and a few other rules but I am not sure about gambling being allowed or banned.

This guy is so lucky imagine just a single dollar you won a large amount of multiplier and just wondering this is just a one bet or still a lot of number of games to bet so he came up with that large amount because upon playing in different sports bet I experience is most likely this kind of odds like x12 is mostly happen in the event of match with the underdogs like unexpected wins happen this most likely happens to the people who always commit a yolo betting.

What is or are your opinion(s) on this matter?

Well, I leave religious questions aside. That the man earned that amount is a statistical event like any other. Improbable, yes, but with all the people in the world betting on games like the lottery, by pure statistical probability, someone will end up winning.

Regarding telling, I think it is better to keep a low profile and tell as few people as possible. What happens is that just when the amount is bigger, which is when you should keep it secret, it is more difficult to hide it.

It depends on what kind of success you talking about. If I’m winning some jackpots and lotteries and earning tons of money then I should definitely keep my mouth shut because that’s temporary money, it’s not gonna be there for whole life.

However, if I am lucky enough to set up my own business, become star, millionaire with my own hard work and let’s say my names getting published in news paper or magazines then that is public success. That’s a public figure and we can’t do anything but appear in the public and be social.

At the end it also matters: Whether the success you got is social loving or social jealously!!

It looks like it's a hoax news, there is no information mentioned about where he lives, bet on the casino or bet on any market and so on, .
With only a small bet value and getting a big win, that person must place a bet on a very large multiple bet or on a large odds that the possibility of winning is very small.
But I agree when you get a lot of money from lottery gambling and so on, it's better not to tell it publicly because not only will many people be jealous but will be the target of tax collection, or something else who also wants to benefit from what he got like a thief

Give all before death

Don't you all think that in the course of we trying to show off this kind of winnings to friends, families, colleagues etc, we end up drawing known and unknown enemies to ourselves?

The heart of man is desperately wicked, Man destroy and kill his fellow man out of envy and jealousy, they celebrate your success with you in your front, but when you are not there, they device means to bring you down, or even kill you.

I think people should learn to keep their success stories away from physical people, because as they joy and praise you physically, secretly, they might not be as much happy as they appear physically.

If I am eager to share my success story, I prefer to do it online where no body knows me In person, like this forum, doing this offline with family, friends, colleagues, etc.. I think is too risky.

What is or are your opinion(s) on this matter?
Maybe he was so excited that he could not hold his emotions that he had to announce his big win. But I think we should learn to live a more quiet and reserved life sometimes. I guess it happened in Nigeria. Recently we have had cases of an increase in criminal activities such as kidnapping and armed robbery in that country. Publicizing his wins would definitely make him and the members of his family a very good target for kidnapping for ransom. Maybe he should consider relocating out of his location or even the country.

About the news, i hope people to be smart when it comes to money after winning lottery, there are really incidents and news that lottery winners are prone to this, become poorer after months or years, and full of debts because of mismanaging their money properly.
Sometimes when people get the money they are not prepared for, they tend to misuse them. If he has no investment plan, in a few years he might lose all the money on a lavish lifestyle or there is every tendency that he might gamble off all the money. What he needs right now is good financial advice from a professional. Buying bitcoin or investing in real estate would not be a bad investment.

And I do agree that if you win big, you just need to shut up and don't tell anyone, I have read a lot of news of people winning lottery and telling the whole neighbourhood that the next day people are lining up to his house to ask for help and monetary assistance. i mean it's not that bad to help others but what if you can't help them all? And then there are relatives that you suddenly shows up to your door as well for money. And again, you can't please everyone, at certain point there will be people that are going to be envious of you.
There's person like this near in my area like he win millions in my local currency (thousands of dollars) then just months it vanished like nothing happens because of same reason (I just heard this in a radio news). Note this man is just a typical poor in the area become rich for a period of time and then become poor again without any contribution done to his life for long term.
Still congrats to the man though at least he(they) experienced such richness even just short period of time lol.

Last week, on the 14th of October, 2022, A Nigerian Man used 800 naira (which is equivalent to $1.072 in today's NGN/DOLLAR exchange rate) to bet on sports...

He later won a whopping 38,317,137 Nigerian naira (which is equivalent to $51,363.454 in today's NGN/DOLLAR exchange rate).

         ....How luckier can one get?😁😁😁

Below is a quote of the entire article

His capital amount was only 1$, then it became 51k$ just because he played gambling? This is what can be said if this person is lucky in gambling. And the technique he did was great, how did he do that? and what kind of gambling game did he play?

Even so, if this person won with such an amount, it would be better if he kept it to himself secretly and did not tell anyone of his acquaintances, for his safety, of course, because we don't know the thoughts of our neighbors.
But that's the only question I have, did he win the lottery or a gambling game? what game is this?

LOL, well done for the guy. There is always a chance of fat winnings to be honest. Some of the bettings such as horse racing or some sports in beisball or basketball can potentially assign odds that factor in nearly impossible chances, but there is always a chance, even a diminutive one. I guess this is no different from winning the lottery, except that is perhaps more fun than buying a ticket and just waiting.

There is no mention in the article of why it became viral. We don't know what happened but I believed it's impossible for me that the winner will just announce it publicly or even posted in social media or related things.

Besides, it's not us who have to adjust. Regardless of whether winning is being kept secret by the winners, there will be always a way that others will soon know it.

With these big winnings, just try to stay low-key and protect ourselves at any cost.

If I'd won or got something big, I keep my mouth shut. I don't want any celebrations to happen and I want it to remain lowkey. This is like making some profits in trading, I've done that before and managed to keep my success to myself and never shared it to anyone.

I will also keep my winnings in private because there are lots of people pretending to be friends waiting to exploit us of our financial capability.  It is better to solo the glory and financial gain than being surrounded by these fake people.

It's better to be alone on these times of success rather than being known by people surrounding you and their only main goal is to ask for share and that's for sure. When you are in that type of crowd following you, that's one thing for sure that they'll ask from you.

True, wicked people is always there trying to take advantage of other people and suck their finance dry if they see an opportunity.  So better be careful than sorry.

Word will still get out even if he starts sharing his win to immediate family in a discreet way. I'm pretty sure most people who became instant millionaires but with no financial education will commit the mistake of spending on a lot of things. That lifestyle change will be noticed quickly by neighbors and friends.
