I doubt that the account is from a national newspaper. Look at how many people are subscribed to that account. A legit national newspaper account could have more than hundreds of thousand of followers/subscribers if not millions. I think the national newspaper is just an account name but not literally means that the account is recognized as official national newspaper.
As a Nigerian myself, allow me to confirm to you that that is indeed the official telegram channel of the national newspaper, by the name "National newspapers" it does not mean that that is the official newspaper company for Nigeria as a country, the national newspaper is just one of the newspaper companies in Nigeria, they have their customers/readers just the same way other newspapers companies in the country have theirs, there are other newspapers companies that are bigger than the National newspaper, for example.. The punch - is another newspaper company in Nigeria and they have more followers/subscribers than The national newspaper - -
I hope you understand what I mean. And the reason for the low subscribers is because, Nigeria's population is atleast 70 to 80 percent youths, and majority of this youths don't read or follow newspapers, they depend on social media like Facebook, Twitter to share and read news.
How ever, the youth that do read newspapers majority of them do not own smart phones, so obviously, there is no way for the to follow or subscribe to the channels belonging to this companies.
There are principles in writing a news. It should goes around a fact wherein, it gives an alias if the name shouldn't be exposed, the place of event and many others that supports the incident. The first sentence alone shows that the news is unreliable (see - An unidentified man <<< ) and a cut bet slip... how can they get a betslip if the winning man is unidentified plus I think the book maker will not provide players' bet slip to anyone due to privacy law.
If you live in Nigeria, then you would understand that that was not a major news, it just like something happening which picked the interest of a person that works in the company, and they decided to post it on their website, the news didn't even appear of the newspaper itself, that should tell you that it's not a major new, it's something they hurried decided to share with their online reader - like I said before, it didn't appear in their main newspaper.
And also the term " unidentified" actually means the newspaper company don't know the man in question, if you read the news on the website, it was from a video clip of the event that someone else shared online, that those or a person that works in the newspaper company saw, and after watching, decided to also share it with their online readers -
I hope this is clear enough to understand.
