I'm excited to get into the alt coin mining with everyone!  I realize that it's not going to be exactly possible for me to get into Bitcoin mining because of the cost of asic miners and the difficulty.. so coming from a general 1 GPU perspective, having the opportunity to get into this early while alt coins are going up and down is awesome.

What a hell? Is that Earthcoin total scam or what? Huh I got around 2k coins in 5 hours with 750kh/s. I thought I should get 50k in a day. I smell rats.

Dont doge for the monies, doge for the moon. All those who are dumping aren't making much and will never get to visit the moon. Doge has potential, I just hope people don't take it too seriously, its a fun way to get into mining though and the community is helpful

Today has been bad day for doge. Cry Massive dumping on cryptsy at 60 satoshi. It's a long way to the moon, but I hope doge survives in a long run.

Hey all, registered because I just started digging for doge. Seems like fun so far. Not really in it for the money, just thought I'd give this mining thing a try.

There's a whole lot of alt coins, I prefer them slightly over bitcoin since they aren't asic'd yet

There are Altcoins and "Altcoins".
Main altcoins are LTC, PPC, NMC, QRK, WDC. Those are stable altcoins which will really grow.

Than there are new altcoins which will maybe change rankings - so powerfull, much beauty, very fun. Wow. :-)

I'm pretty new to the whole crypto scene after hearing it from a presentation in my accounting class.  These tips are definitely helpful for me especially since I'm just starting out.  Thanks for the precautions that you've offered!!

I like nxtcoin because we don't need to buy expensive hardware to generate blocks.

It seems to me that a wise altcoin investment strategy would be to split your resources evenly amongst all of them, or nearly all of them. There's really no way to tell which ones are going to do very well or very poorly.

So how do you guys choose between the alt coins if you plan to invest at least as a small part of portfolio into them.

There are already more than 100 of them available and for sure tons of more coming.

What criteria do you use? Do you mainly focus on the top 10 in the market cap listing or try to find the rising stars?

If you don't want to risk too much stick with top 10 in capitalcap, but you can just dig little dipper follow news and it will be more clear where to invest. I really think older alcoins and bitcoin itself will be squeeze out with something newer and better
