Wouldn't the easiest way to weed out spammers be correlation of a single IP address to multiple accounts?
Is it a possibility that someone would go through the trouble of using a proxy/ tor etc for each account so none of them posted from the same address?

The only way to end spam would be to dis-allow signature campaigns.
I know that when I first joined a campaign I got a little excited and made some extra posts.
For someone that really needs the money, they definitely have an incentive to hit the max posts every day.
And for someone who has the skills to program a network of bot accounts and automate their posting, it might be worth the time if some of the figures posted in this thread are accurate.

Investing on bitcoin doublers is not less than gambling, you may win profit or you may lose your money, but some of the doublers have such a design and look that attracts users to invest in them, and i think DoubleMB.com is one of them. Smiley

Maybe not.You don't have to be a spammer to be listed up there. The list is about the account farmer who most probabaly sold you the account.Could you be nice enough to tell us whom did you purchase the account from?

If theymos doesn't respond  it shouldnt be too hard to figure out a way to generate list with user # + username.
I mean for someone else though.  I have no clue how to do that.

DannyHamilton maybe?  Cheesy

I have a problem with Danny Hamilton's list, because I'm on it (lol).  I think it's too inclusive because it doesn't discriminate other than to exclude people with signatures, and not all people with sigs are spammers.

Now now, your not reading correctly!
I was suggesting Danny was the ideal man to make a NEW Farmer list! (that you would not be on, i presume)
Look at that thread which we replied in "Re: Is it allowed to sell Bitcointalk account?"
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.16089913
At least 8 farmed accounts all pretending to be different people. And swaying argument with their numbers!
(got a few more names there which i will look into! no not you or gentlemand!)

If you have trouble filtering decent posts, DannyHamilton made a list that blocks sig spammers.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/my-personal-ignore-list-973843
Basically anyone with that is in or has been in a signature campaign is there (mine included).
You can create your own list too I suppose.
Dannys list is great, (i don't use any blocker) but it is a sticking plaster against farmed accounts.
And the difference between farmed and unfarmed spam is also relevant and differentiating

A new list that does not care about sig campaigners, it only cares about farmed accounts. (they may or may not have a sig)

I hope SMAS will start looking at this. (he says doubtfully)
These accounts are stealing real peoples opportunities of enrolling in sig campaigns, and destroying real discussion in the process.
Maybe the campaign managers like it like this for some reason?  (stop it rizz...)

I find it hard to believe Theymos and the mods and the sig managers would let the farmer waltz in and take all the bitcoin unchallenged!

This farmer is nicking a lot of the sig money, meaning real people can't earn sig money?
The farmer also sells and scams. He is being allowed to feed here. With Theymos's blessing.
I hope you understand my view better now.
You're right,  I was reading too fast.  Comprehension was not keeping up.

Going to start tagging farmed accounts if it's ridiculously obvious that's what's going on.   This shit drives me ape nuts.

A slightly different list again here. Alphabet list turns random list.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/yatsida-666918  Yatsida (19)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/zistmine-666933  Zistmine (21)

Then, after 3 moe inactive/padding members joined, Northpixel from bbc. spammer list and a few others.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/nanopipe-666959  NanoPipe (21)

So the farmer dropped this alphabet list at "Z" and carried on randomly. So he can be a bit random?
Maybe these are unrelated? Back to basics. Lets check the farmers post schedule here, see if the two "bits" tally.

Hey Twitchy, any time that fills the gaps between my posts! I've only seen a couple hours per day - the duration of each post.
There could be a lot in-between, or not. May as well fill gaps first. So anything 660000 - 670000.

Just found a new list.
This is the first list I have found with no bbc. spammer list starting point.

I think I figured out a pretty efficient way to do this with import.io

I programmed an "extractor" to get username, post count, registered date and last active.

Should have 8,000 users with the last one u=264049 in another 10-15 minutes.  (Takes about 4 min per 1,000 )

I just randomly picked that range of users, let me know of any requests.

Edit:

All done, here you go:

u=252562 - u=264049

Little faster this way I think Smiley

wow that is nuts

If theymos doesn't respond  it shouldnt be too hard to figure out a way to generate list with user # + username.
I mean for someone else though.  I have no clue how to do that.

DannyHamilton maybe?  Cheesy

However, in light of this evidence I feel Theymos must respond now. (he knew all this already, unless i'm cleverer than him? i got no tools)
I feel this is game changing. My list covers (not properly) just 9 days. What about all the days I have not seen yet.
Btw, while compiling my lists, I came across only a handful of real and still active members.

I do not want to partake in a forum full of mass farmed accounts.
Something could easily be done here. Someone needs to get a grip.
If theymos had shown this and banned all for spamming, no one would have batted an eyelid, probably.
This can only get worse if it is not stopped. The mods have lost control. Unless they are the farmer? (no rizz, stop it...)

Why do I get the feeling Theymos would rather farmed accounts here than me, or other real members?  Huh

I have a problem with Danny Hamilton's list, because I'm on it (lol).  I think it's too inclusive because it doesn't discriminate other than to exclude people with signatures, and not all people with sigs are spammers.  A ton of Yobit posters are spammers, and at one point I was adding them to my ignore list in bulk, but not all of them are worthy of an ignore.

I guess you could use the list and un-ignore users as needed, but that would be a pain in the ass methinks.

At BTC.0004 per post they are making BTC1 for every 2500 posts.

A lot in my lists are only quietly ranking up. No sig. Not even on Danny's list.
Then they are ripe for sale, or holding for sig spamming farms.

This is playing the long game. These are 10 month old accounts.
There must be other farmed accounts before, and certainly since?
I can't find them. That for me is like looking for the next block. impossible. But theymos could look. And must have already looked.
(I don't have Theymos's tools at my disposal  Huh)

I hope SMAS will start looking at this. (he says doubtfully)

How long would it take to do all 700k or however many there is user #s?

Or is that too big for excel?

Excel could probably handle it but it would take me a long time to key the values in  Tongue

I'll start by collating the data from this thread and any updates to it, and take it from there.

Ok cool. Not sure how you'll get it to work, maybe just 1 week, the main attack? Anyway, Good luck!  Cheesy
I got nothing but what you see here, and a pile of scrap paper on the floor!

Cool, I enjoy playing with Excel  Grin. I should be able to make a good hole in it on Wednesday.

I could have a go at the scatter graph Chris! suggested. I won't be able to start work on it for a couple of days but I'm fairly proficient at creating graphs and charts using MS Excel, if nobody has done this already.

If you'd like me to do that rizzlarolla, do you have a complete list you could share with me to save me piecing your posts together?  No probs if not.

You need a lot of input to identify these accounts. Input we are not easily, or at all, privvy to
Theymos could.
