OP is a detective. You can be a FBI agent. Your findings on those A, B, C, D starting accounts ... and so forth are shocking everyone. Maybe they are all knowhow's alts.

You are a spam finder, I am a scam finder. Let's shake hands.

Two to three years ago, I would have naively gone to a thread that was auctioning a Bitcointalk account, in hopes of having acquired a good that I could hope to resell for a profit. However, after actually having visited sections outside of the Politics and Society subsection, I've come to realize that there's actually a lot of risk associated with account trading, you could end up buying an account that was hacked, which can later be recovered, or an account that already has a loan out.

I feel like the decision to allow account farming on this forum was made so the forum administrator could profit from them, as he is the sole beneficiary from this. I'll explain why I think this is the case.

Account farmers will put on a signature ad, making the service advertised more popular. In return, the companies whose ads are placed will pay the people who have the ads in their sigs. I bet you're wondering, where does the Admin come in this? Well, occasionally, some private business owners will want to take it further, and to try and attract more users, they will donate to the forum to get the cool gold coins under their name. Ultimately, there is a cozy relationship that is formed between the forum administrator and the Bitcoin casino companies/exchanges.

Cantoner was banned but clearly not all his other related accounts were. (see the list he is on here)
In fact, it could only be a tiny percentage that were banned, as nearly all I have listed (and connected) are still active.
(or was there just lots of zero post accounts banned as mentioned in bbc.spammer thread?)

I wondered, "Was there mass banning of accounts related to Knowhow? (was that based on random individual member reports, or more thorough like here)"
Was it just 1 or 2 accounts involved/banned?

BadBear will have likely only found the ones from the IP(s) connected directly to KnowHow. I've asked Cyrus to look into it further.

Pretty good chance Cantoner is an alt of knowhow, a guy who had a lot of BCT accounts and did a lot of account farming. He and all his alts got banned for spam, so the account "Cantoner" is probably banned too. No solid proof linking them, but they talk way too similarly. The other alts might have been also farmed by him, and banned.

Surprised how many farmed accounts there are.

Cantoner has not posted since may, so may have been banned.

Cantoner has not posted since may, so may have been banned. But most others I have listed, and even on the same list as Cantoner, are still active.
As you know, we can't tell if an account is banned or not. We can only see last activity.
Only mods, staff and admin can see ban status, rather annoyingly.

Cantoner was on an alphabetical list. These list appear to be interconnected, making it most likely the work of one farmer.
One farmer with hundreds of accounts - just like Knowhow?

bbc.reporter,

u=668256 is already listed by me. Also u=669148. (see summary on page 3, will update again soon)
The other 3 are outside or my target u=range at the moment.

My target area is u=500000 - u=700000. (because of your original list) When I feel I have properly covered that period, maybe I'll expand my search forward/back from there.
Please keep looking.

This is just kind of a random observation and honestly I have no idea if it means anything. Every time I see an account up for sale the morons always say:

This account doesn't has a stacked address.

It's a 'staked' address not a 'stacked' address. I'm wondering if it's the same nincompoop or if all account farmers spell the same word wrong every single time.

Other grammatical errors from account farmers are:

"I advice you..." when it should be "I advise you..."

And of course

"Your an idiot" lol. These last two are mistakes made by literally 95% of the forum so I wouldn't put too much weight on them. This whole 'stacked' address thing seems like such a random mistake that it must be the same person or group of people.

Great charts twitchyseal. They're better than my dinky little idea of a scatterplot hahaha.

Moral of the story: If you want to break a bunch of rules, be very fluent in English.

On Nov 8th from 10:52am-12:17pm a new account was created with 4-7 minutes between each.
Then From 12:50-1:25pm and again from 4:04 to 4:45.

Ok I'll start on this next piece, working up from the bottom.

cfif is not farmed, nor Crypto Greek. Nor, I don't think, is grambel (but he should be banned anyway for shouting every post really loudly  Wink).

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/mirakal-639605  mirakal (1563)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/anthonydar-639604  anthonydar (196) ***
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/posternat-639598  posternat (169)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/coinyard-639593  coinyard (347)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/glerand-639581  glerand (32)

I dont really know if their writing style changed as all early posts, bar 2, were 1 liners. coinyard did have one 2 line post in Dec that had a gap, followed by a 2 liner without a gap, then back to 1 liners. glerand's 32 posts are all 1 line shitposts. these accounts took 23 minutes to create and first post, then left for 2 weeks. Look at the posts

mirakal         Nov 8,22     Dec 3,14,25     Jan 7,20                Feb 3,16,29
anthonydar    Nov 8,22    Dec 3,13,24     Jan 2,5,8,10,11,
posternat       Nov 8,22    Dec 3,12,23     Jan 6                     Feb 1,14,27
coinyard        Nov 8,22    Dec 3,12,23     Jan 6                      Feb 1,14,27
glerand          Nov 8,22    Dec 3,15,         Jan 7,11,20,22,26

Their second posts on Nov 22 all minutes apart, not detailed here, check that yourselves! (as were the first obvs) I stopped looking there.

5 farmed accounts, 2150 spam posts.

On November 9th there's a 7+ hour gap where no accounts are created (that meet our requirements)
Then, starting at 3:12pm 6 more appear just a few minutes apart:

I'll start with this smaller section!

AngryDwarf is not farmed. Look at his first posts, completely different.
Hubballi is not farmed. same as above.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/strongkored-640554  Strongkored (1013)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/fachant-640559  fachant (65)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/dodgrad-640564  dodgrad (55)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/bettwarm-640570  Bettwarm (79)

Followed by (actually 47 zero post members later) Blind Legs Parker. Blind Legs is not a farmed account. different posting (not 1 line spam) and he speaks french.

Let's look at these four in more detail. Their first 3 posts, minutes apart.

Strongkored   Nov 9 @7.47pm    Nov 22  @10.56am     Dec3 @1.44pm
fachant          Nov 9 @7.50pm    Nov 22  @11.00am     Dec3 @1.48pm
dodgrad         Nov 9 @7.54pm    Nov 22  @11.05am     Dec3 @1.51pm
Bettwarm       Nov 9 @7.57pm    Nov 22  @11.07am     Dec3 @1.53pm

Farmed? Conclusive. 4 accounts, 1200 spam posts.

I will continue with this section later.

Ok, carrying on.
cas hking2025, not farmed (even with the standard farmed 20 post account!) Just look at his posts.
munkey666 is not included either as is not farmed.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/ilikechineseefood-641327  Ilikechineseefood (24)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/hilbillyfred-641334  HilbillyFred (171)

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/maudevang-641367  maudevang (403)

Lets look in more detail at their first posts.

Ilikechineseefood  Nov 9,13,13,13,13,13
HilbillyFred           Nov 9,13,13,13,13,13
FrannWilder          Nov 9,13,13,13,13,13
Fofofolo                Nov 9,13,16,16,16,16
italianobitcoin       Nov 9,13,13,13,13,13
maudevang          Nov 9,13,13,13,13,13

(pretty much every other account in this registration time frame not mentioned here and not shown in the colour chart above, is a 0 or 1 post "dormant" account. see twitchyseals link to spreadsheet. there were 813 accounts registered in this time frame of 9 hours covering both attacks)

FrannWilder (Oops) Fofofolo nearly fooled me there, not. Take a look at their writing styles. All have a gap between lines, until Dec when they all change to not having a gap.

Farmed? conclusive. 6 accounts, 1000 spam posts.

@rizzlarolla. Thank you for doing this.

Check this account https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/anthonydar-639604

The biggest takeaway with these farmed accounts are the no. of posts and their activity are the same or almost the same. They join signature campaigns as an added incentive but I speculate that the main objective for these farmers is to sell those accounts.

Wow! It's really impressive that you were able to figure all this out. You should pass your evidence to the administrator in confidence, not publicly, because that would give the spammers time to prepare for ban evasion.
You have clearly done your research, just message the Admin and tell him what you think of it, I'm sure he'll consider it.
Just curious, what do you mean by the abbreviation "bbc"?

Theymos knows. I always said that.

I also meant he knows I am posting. It started in the bbc spammer thread I think. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/post-a-spammer-thread-1591598
I did not know where this was going. He did.

He could have replied me anytime. He could have messaged me anytime. He didn't. He hasn't. He still could.
No mod has posted here in 5 pages. I was previously told I would be lucky if Theymos was bothered, I think.

If I had known the scale of things, maybe I would have done things differently. I didn't know. Theymos did.
He could have stopped this anytime.
The bct co-owner was posting last night, in the next thread.
I am ignored by mods in other threads too. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/known-spammers-user-generated-1586378

I agree it may have been more advantageous for Theymos not to have shown others how all this works.
He has not banned me either, so..?

I'll weigh in on this from my politico-economical thinking perspective. He most likely has been aware of this activity for a very long time, long before you "discovered" it. However, he chooses to remain silent on the issue, because giving a statement would only lead to his statement being used against him on the forums, which would lead to nearly the entire forum discovering this. He clearly does not want to get rid of the issue at hand because doing so would challenge the ad revenue he receives.

I think he just has more important shit to deal with.
