It wasn't arbitrage. It was preference for a better exchange.  I didn't profit from it.  People with a lot of shares will prefer BTCT mainly for its higher liquidity.  If you have less than 100,000 it's pointless because it's all relative in the end.

So you simultaneously maintain the stance that 1 share on BTCT is worth more than 1 share on Bitfunder and also the stance that you did not profit from transferring shares from Bitfunder to BTCT, heh.

Anyway, I do not see why you are arguing with that guy about buying shares on bitfunder or btct, it really doesnt effect anyone yet you are picking a fight for no reason.

If you trade 1 $10 bill for 2 $5 bills,
you still have 10 bucks, son.

You're confused about the purpose of these moves. I want to hold more shares of ActM. This nets more shares if done at the proper price spread.

I'm a bit baffled that this is a point of discussion... It's not rocket science. If you want to hold more ActM, then the moves I described can bring about that end AND it could bring the price of BF and BTCT closer. I believe I've made my point plenty clear. I won't cater to anymore filibustering on this topic.

Thanks, guys.
VolcanicEruptor paid several thousand dollars to have his shares transferred from bitfunder to BTCT, so you are speaking to someone with substantial cognitive dissonance on the matter. Of course it is better to have more shares at the lower price if you believe that ActiveMining will be highly successful in the future with dividends, there is no discussion.

In any case, the price of this stock will likely go down over the next few days as Labcoin is constantly pouring in the good news while ActiveMining seems to be stagnant on the press release side of things. (The false reports of an eAsic joint press conference doesn't help things at all)

Bitcoin for all & all for Bitcoin
I'd prefer to increase my shareholdings once those "satoshi dust" dividends become more substantial.

It doesn't matter how many instances or ways you explain something, we all have different methods and opinions.

You're assuming all shares are worth the same.  Obviously one share is worth more than the other share.

You sounded convincing until you said,
"Oops, cats out of the bag!"

You should have just said,
"Just trying to pump up my BF shares, kthnx!!"
+1. ActM shares always seem to be far more expensive on btct than bitfunder, whatever the volitility.

how big does the gap between bitfunder and btct have to be for people to start arbitraging lol

You can't conduct arbitrage between BitFunder and BTC-TC. In order for arbitrage to work you would need to be able to transfer shares between the exchanges, otherwise it is completely pointless. Makes no sense to talk of arbitrage in this situation.

I outlined above how you can take advantage of the price on BF. Be sure to take fees into consideration. If the spread is wide enough you net a nice increase in shares for the same BTC.
You didn't outline anything other than transferring your Bitcoin over to another exchange and buying shares at a different price, you gain no advantage. Arbitrage is when there is a price difference in two markets and you purchase an item in the market with the cheaper price and transfer it over to the other market and sell at a higher price. Then you take that money and travel to the cheaper market and repeat - this continues until the prices are the same in both markets. You are not describing arbitrage, you are describing nothing.

I'll give you an example to help you understand the advantage:

Lets say I sell 100 shares on BTCT for the current price .0056. That's .56 total.

I take the .56, and drop it on BF and buy as many shares as possible with that same value (less fees). BF is @ .0045 so I can get ~124 shares with that same amount of BTC. The advantage is clearly in holding an extra 20 some shares for no extra cost. I've done this a number of times simply to increase my holdings in ActM at no cost other than the time to move the funds and place the orders.

Hope that helps!

No experience with ACTM but made TON arbing AM from BTCT ---> BF.

Strategy is simple. You don't need to transfer back. You move to BF when there's a big spread, because BitFunder always catches up at times of low volatility.

Oops, cat's out the bag.

this is what i meant. for people going long, 15% more shares sounds pretty nice

Exactly, I moved all of mine across and have gained a lot of shares Smiley and with the new update on BTCT id rather be on Bitfunder for these.

Semi - Excited for the Satoshi Dust payout this evening.

VERY excited to see that  the # of shares up for sale on BTCT has dropped below 200K and the BTC up for bid has been rising steadily for the past few days.

Positive News is imminent.

I'm slowly converting my shares over to BF. I'll always hold a certain amount on BTCT for liquidity. I'm currently 20/80 BF/BTCT. Once you have WeExchange setup it's pretty straight forward. Just watch for those those large gaps, sell shares on BTCT, convert BTC to WeExchange/BF, and clean up for a nice % profit gain.  Kiss

uhhhh no.
