Cameroon odds were surprisingly not as bad as I would have imagined, probably as books knew Brazil would be playing a somewhat second string... but as soon as Shaqiri scored, news must have filtered through as I felt their shoulders dropped even lower... Kunde not even contesting a soft foul suggesting they're already resigned. Shame as they had a decent early chance.

Edit: Aboubakar! KO stage lessons? Bet every game against the fav!
Vincent Aboubakar celebration by taking off his jersey after scoring a goal against Brazil was very emotional. He knew victory over Brazil could not carry his country into the last 16, but one goal that came from his head allowed Cameroon to beat a formidable team in the world most prestigious tournament.

Although Cameroon failed to qualify from the group stage, at least Africa has sent two representatives to the last 16 of Morocco and Senegal. Their struggle is very difficult in the round of 16 because they will meet other strong teams, Senegal will meet England and Morocco will be directly challenged by Spain.
It takes high confidence to win, even though England and Spain are very difficult to beat, that don't mean they can't be beaten.

someone was blaming Abubakat where I was that he shouldn't have removed his clothes after scoring Brazil. I told him in your same words that it is emotional, it wasn't intentional it's not easy to get a goal against Brazil and that goal would mean that they have won Brazil. It was a good record for himself as someone that is almost ended his career. so that was a win for his country, for Africa and for his career. He didn't remember anymore that he  was on yellowcard

For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we will be having a minimum of 9 teams from the CAF (compared to 5 this time). There was a lot of criticism, when FIFA first announced this a few years ago. A lot of people were arguing that the quality will go down. Those who made the argument are silent now, after witnessing the exceptional performance from African teams this time. Not a single one among the 5 CAF participants disappointed their fans. All of them - Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon and Ghana had their moments this time in the world cup.

those damn fifa, they only put 9 teams from africa when they know that in africa the continent is very big, they are unfair with africa, most of the time there are good teams in africa but they have not been lucky to go to the world cup, doing with the same teams from africa in the world cup, at least this situation will change in 2026, it will not change as well as it should, but it will be a small change

This is really the first time hearing that there will be changes at the 2026 World Cup with Africa having more representatives, namely 9, then will the representatives from other continents decrease or will the competition system change?

fifa increased the number of teams on all continents, and of course africa was the least number increased as always, that's why i said fifa was always unfair to africa, it's not normal that a continent as big as africa has only 9 teams while other small continents have many teams, this is unfair, but the fault lies with the Africans who accept this

This is really the first time hearing that there will be changes at the 2026 World Cup with Africa having more representatives, namely 9, then will the representatives from other continents decrease or will the competition system change? I've always been one of those people who are looking forward to how African teams play because they show something different from Europe or America and dare to say Asia is slightly below them but in this World Cup Asia has impressed.
If Senegal can make it to the semi-finals then that would be great and would be the first for a team from Africa if I'm not mistaken.
The next world cup would be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. And FIFA is considering expanding the teams to 48 instead of the normal 32 teams. The group stage of competition would consist of sixteen groups with three countries in a group. Instead of the normal round of sixteen after the group stage, there would be a new knockout stage called the round of 32.

The main reason for this innovation is to give more countries the opportunity of participating in the world cup. Only Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana have gotten to the quarter finals of the world cup and no African team had reached the semi-finals. Hopefully Morocco or Senegal might break that jinx.

This is one of Africa's best performance in the World Cup. Critics of the policy to include nine African teams in the next tournament are in great shock. All the African teams that were knockout of the competition at the group stage were best losers. Everyone of them deserved to be at the round of 16 and they would have made it to at least the quarter finals. This is because they defeated many world class teams, imagine Cameroon defeating the best national team in the world Brazil. They became the first African team to beat the Seleção Canarinho. The beauty of the match was that the indomitable lions were outstanding in the match. Morocco also defeated the second best national team in the world Belgium.

Giving Africa more slots would even improve the quality of the world cup because African teams have really improved. These critics will still get more proofs why African teams deserves an increased slot when Morocco or Senegal gets to the Semi-finals  Grin.

Another game have got my eyes one would be Morroco versus Spain honestly. It's a good bet for one to bank on Morroccan against Spanish sides. I have carefully watched them last game, they're good technically on the ball and off the ball, do you also think that would make sense ?
Maybe, going for a first half draw would be a peng Idea mmhh ?!

Aboubakar! Officially becomes the First African to help the first African side to win Brazil national side in the history of the FIFA World Cup. The celebration/ double card Bookings which lead to the red car got me smiling and a lil bit emotional.

Before this game started, I had high expectations that Ghana would be able to win this game, but they started to play badly, it was like they didn't want to move on to another phase, it didn't even seem like the same hunger as in past games, they even irritated me as they were playing playing, they conceded 2 goals and failed to score at least 2 goals, this is something simply terrible, they were eliminated when they had a great chance of getting through to another stage, the problem of African players not taking things seriously is very serious, and it is necessary that the people remove these corrupt governments from africa and put people who are smart and not corrupt to run the country well, only then soccer in africa will have high quality like in europe and we will also manage to win the world cup one day

I also had high expectations and hopes going into the game that Ghana will surprise the world and make history but it seems rather than staying focused on the task of the day they decided to reminisce on the past 2010 world cup game against Uruguay and got distracted from the objectives of the day and ended up being defeated and crashing out of the world cup. I wonder when African players will take things as this seriously, it's a shame though.

The performance of African countries in this world cup is great. 2 out of 5 qualified but all the 5 countries were remarkable even if some didn't qualify. Morocco top their group. Tunisia defeated the world  champions which is France, Cameroon won Brazil. It is a nice outing for African countries and it is nice for FIFA to increase their slot because some other good African countries didn't qualify like  Nigeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Mali and more of them.

I liked the football of Mohammed Kudus in the Uruguay match. I hope he continues his good football and we will have the opportunity to watch him for many years. In addition, Daniel Amartey also performed well in the Uruguay match. Beşiktaş were interested in him at the beginning of the season, but they could not make this transfer. When I saw his performance in this match, I understood better what we were missing. Ghana said goodbye to this world cup but they have a promising squad of players for the coming years....

I don't think Deschamps underestimated France's opponent, it's just that first place was guaranteed for France so he wasn't worried about the outcome of this game at all. In fact, this is very sad, since it is dishonest from the point of view of sports principles (the team that plays with a demotivated opponent in the last round obviously has an advantage) and does not give a damn about the fans.
Unfortunately it was the case. Imagine 5 minutes after the goal, Deschamps made 3 substitutions at the same time, including Mbappe, then 10 minutes later he added Griezmann then Dembele. Half the team was changed in like 15 minutes after the goal. It is true that he was confident that his team will win or get even a draw but that goal surprised the French team. Anyway that was a lesson for them.

Well no... applying such reasoning, we can conclude that the League of Nations was a super important tournament for Deschamps, but the teams of Denmark (LOL) and Croatia were head and shoulders above the French team. We all know that yesterday's game was optional for France and they didn't care about the result.
Indeed it was optional but France didn't want to lose it for historical and social reasons mainly. Anyway no need to argue more about that since even Cameroon won vs Brazil Grin
At some point, when Serbia was leading, there was a hope but Switzerland killed it literally and Cameroon players were happy for winning the game but sad to be eliminated even before the end of the match..
The best ending goes to Aboubakar with the red card. He knew that game was the last one for his team in the Qatar World Cup version so Roll Eyes

Another big win for people who bet on Cameroon and a big win for the team, but unfortunately they will not be able to progress in this competition even though they have done something that many would not have imagined, which is win the favorites by a goal, and being the first team to score Brazil in this world cup. Cameroon out, Ghana out...very disappointing. Consolation I have for Ghana is that Partey will now have time to rest and not get injured, so he can return to Arsenal whole without news of any injury.

I think people who bet a game for Cameroon to beat Brazil are few, no one ever thought Cameroon will win Brazil because Brazil is a tough team that always defeat any team they play with, but it will definitely be a big win for who were in support of Cameroon to defeat Brazil. Cameroon defence was so tense that Brazil couldn't see a goal to score. Tonight Cameroon has made a big history as the first Africa nation to defeat Brazil.

Teams that guarantee to finish the group matches as the leader are in complacency in this tournament. Brazilian football players also have this image tonight. That's why Cameroon can win the match by making a surprise. They should try to take a little more risk because they have nothing to lose and the score they expect from the Switzerland v Serbia match can come at any time.

Among the African teams, I liked Morocco the most. They played compact football throughout the tournament. Teams like this can pose a danger to anyone. I don't think they can win the tournament, but they can influence the fate of the tournament. They can change the name of the final by making a surprise against Spain. I don't think anyone should see them as an easy opponent.

The black star's spirit in the game was shaken by the penalty Ayew missed. They had a chance to win the game with the penalty, but they let what had occurred to them 12 years before happen again. Ghana lost because they played against Uruguay with a revengeful attitude rather than allowing the soccer god to favor them.

Despite winning 2-0, Uruguay wasn't able to advance to the round of 16. They would have qualified if they had defeated the Ghanaian squad by a score of 3-0.

First of all the coach should have selected the exact team that played against South Korea but with a revengeful heart he decided to bring in fast players.

Secondly the players were eager to score and where just running around leaving spaces for Uruguay to capitalise. Partey and Baba Rahman are sincerely there worst players of the tournament.

South Korea actually qualified due to scoring more Goals than Uruguay if not they were tie on goal difference. Let's hope Cameroon can produce a shocker and beat Brazil to qualify

It is very clear now that Ghana is going home. I am so pained because I had such high hopes for them but they are play abysmally today. Very porous defence, weak attackers always holding the ball for too long. Terrible.

Morrocco and Senegal are the only African teams that have displayed grit and have made us proud. If you ask me, I have high hopes for the Senegalese team despite Mane's absence.

I am also very proud of the Morocco and Senegal teams, but I think it will be very difficult for Senegal to beat England, it is not impossible but it will be very difficult for Senegal to beat England, I even see them losing this game, as for morocco they may even have a chance against spain if spain plays like they were playing against japan, if that happens then morocco could even win in that game, but if spain plays very seriously from the beginning of the game then spain can win this game

After losing their first penalty in the game, which was supposed to give them the best chance of qualifying, Ghana began to lose to Uruguay. However, they were unable to do so, and Uruguay was able to capitalize on their first two opportunities to win the game. Will Ghana be able to contribute in the second half? , they must tie the score or even win the game if they want to qualify, failing which they will once again have to bid the world cup farewell.
