What I can suggest you avoid this situation is to sell partial quantity and keep some then you can get a chance to sell at higher if prices go again high.

Nice suggestion. You have shown that you are experienced in this business. Experience is the mother of progress.

OP should also learn to be patient with this market. Between hours, a loosing coin can be a winning coin.

Not being clairvoyant, although with all seriousness, I would suggest, from you two past sad experiences, that you don't sell each time you have the urge to sell. It should serve as a warning sign to you.

if there is anyone out there that is selling or buying because they "have the urge" then maybe trading is not the best choice for them!
trading means you make logical decisions nor random ones. in other words when you buy and when you sell you have to have a very good reason for either one of them. you analyze the market and see fit to sell now so you do it. then of course mistakes are made but that is a different discussion. mistakes are OK as long as you made it after proper analysis not a mistake that was made because of lack of thinking.

So this happened to me twice this week, first I sold Bitcoin Cash and the next day, it started booming and has not up considerably and still going strong, then I sold Golem and boom it goes too.

What do you do in such situations? When you finally sell for a small profit after a long wait but then you realize that you missed on big profit with you bad timing.
How do you deal with this? Any tips to minimize this or overcome after such bad timing decisions?

You'll regret a bit, that's natural. Just look on the brighter side and be satisfied since you're not at a loss. You sold it for a small profit, what's good with that is you still got profit. Smiley

Diverse the sell order next time. That way, when you sold some, you can buy again when the price got lower and you still have pending sell orders when the price goes up more.

You know what, you'll feel the same if the situation goes the other way round. When you did not sell at that price then it suddenly goes down again. The price when you sold might not be best, but it's still good. It's always a good thing when you got profit (regardless if it's big or small) imo. So don't really consider it a bad sell.

It happens to everyone, everytime I sell something, after a day I am seeing it is mooning. So if I have a selling plan and will sell today, I don't do it and sell tomorrow  Cheesy

I probably don't need to worry about it. The profit is obtained and it can be invested - there are a lot of opportunities for this.

What made you hold all throughout the bear market and start selling on the early stages of a bull market? Serious question.

I would wait for a correction and try not to panic if I were you. But what will not happen is you buying them back at the price you sold them for. Consider that as a loss.

"Just let it go"

Id you made that trade then you cant do anything about it and I would say if you started doing anything about it then you will end up doing mistakes like:
- You will try to profit yourself by buying more coins
- You will do this out of stress but not with techniques and strategies
- You will start emotional trade further and may loose more than previous one.

You should just consider this as coincidence and its not your fault at all. These kind of situations are always there due to uncertainty of the crypto currencies. Just open up new trade and make sure to hold for long time and not just for quick profits. That might help you.

what I do is that I take a reverse approach as yours towards trading altcoins. it is not an uncommon approach and in fact one of the crucial steps to a successful trade. what I do is that I make a "good buy" instead of a "good sell".
this means buying at a good time when you know there is a rise on the way or there is potential for it. I guess you can say at the heart of it, this is all about timing. when you buy some altcoin at a good time you will only experience its rise and make the profit instead of waiting around for the rise that may never come and sell too soon or even worse sell at a big loss.

Already happen, accept the result and never do that again. The solution is only like that and never change but people have different opinion about it. There's nothing you can do " after ", but you can do something better " before ". For minimize loss you can use stop loss and stop greedy for bigger profit. Do that and you'll have better result.

Take this as a subjective advise, this might sound stupid to others but some will think of it as just another bad day at the office. What I suggest is you trade again. Buy coins again, research the market again, WAIT again. Why? You will never know and apply what you’ve learned if you didn’t try again. Fall strong, get up stronger.

Just don't think about it. Move on, as there is nothing you can do to change the past. Even the best traders make losing trades as no one can fully predict the market. That being said if you haven't been finding success daytrading you should just buy a couple coins and hold. Daytrading is definitely not for everyone as it isn't easy and can become super stressful.

Well I didn't believe that bitcoin cash rise up 50% in less than 2 weeks !
nobody knows the future , i remember when i sold ethereum when it was only 80$ and i was so happy with the small profit i made!
Now it is more than 600$ , Best way is to move on and don't forget the lesson you have learned .

nobody is stopping you from buying back!
you sell then you see the pump coming, so buy back as fast as possible before the bubble reaches its peak. then you wait for the pump to slow down and speculate the end of it and the highest price and then you dump there. this way you still make some profit from the pump.

Move forward and let this be a lesson that dont let your emotions get a better of you to dont do panic sell. This is a good learning experience for you that "patience is virtue". You can still reinvest on other tokens like ETH and LTC or BTC cause from this point the price should be recovering and might pump again according to price charts and speculations.

To be honest we can't do anything about it,if you want much profits then you need to have patience if you are looking for small profits only then don't think about the price booming after you sold them.To avoid this kind if problems in the future by set a goal price when to sell your coins once it reached that price sell it and don't again look back the prices.

Hey,

It's a hard one, but guess what, happens to everyone! I know that's no consolation, but just trying to put it in to perspective. This has happened to me so many times I've lost track.

As people have previously mentioned, sell for profit in increments. Even if you set your sell orders in a few blocks (if you really want to liquidate all the asset).

At the end of the day as long as you've made a profit on your original investment, it's all good!

Good luck out there Smiley

Yeah it happened to me so many times, I think it's because I am still lacking of trading skill, I often read the wrong signal and causing me to sell the coin quickly, but because I am still learning, I don't thinking about big profit, a small profit is enough for me, I think with keep on learning we can speculate better
