Personally I wouldn't recommend buying altcoins solely looking to their respective market cap or total supply. Not many altcoins would survive in extensive bear market only those with strong fundamentals and real use cases.
Electroneum is a good one to invest in right now. Their plan is to make cryptocurrency available for the mass public particularly in the developing world where people live on $2 per day. And they wish to achieve that through their mobile mining which they launched couple of days back. As you want to invest in something for the long term like 2-3 years then it is a great choice.
I think that the most promising coin is WPR. I have invested 1 BTC in WePower , young and good project.

I think that you should pay attention to such coins as: 0x(ZRX), Telcoin, NucleusVision and TheKey.
It does not matter the price of the altcoin. The market cap does. There are coins under $1 that are overvaluated while there are coins over $1 that are undervaluated.
I would recommend Ripple for you because Ripple has a better chance of increase that will triple your investment in few years to come.
