That is a good way to invest because if you are investing on some alternate coins that have a potential to grow in the future, then you will earn a lot. Alternate coins is another good way of investing because like bitcoin, they have more room to grow. Cryptocurrency is still growing and i think that is one fact that it is a good way to invest in alternate coins.

Trying to see new ICO coin from the dashboard. I just see XLM, XRP now under $1 but potential to grow up in the next year. But if you want trying to invest on bitcoin and see what happened in the 2018 
Also add xem and some sc seems to have a good movements right now, I personally thinks that with those new updates those coins that mention will get more supports and if OP plans to hold for much longer period for sure much bigger earnings that he will take, just imagine after 2-3 years and the
value will exceed more than a dollar and bitcoin will also grow along the way, it will bring fortune.
I think Verge is a good investment. Now the taxman has started looking into cryptocurrency I can see a real push towards encrypted currencies.

There are lots of altcoins under $1 that has a potential to turn into an elite altcoins one day. Talking of an altcoins under $1 to invest in, i will pick IOTA, PotCoin, and Einsteinium. But unfortunately, we're a bit late for IOTA since it's price now reaches $1 from below.
sys, vox, snt are pretty cheap coin now you can buy them and hold for few months you will surely make a profit. Usually I find cheap coin to buy them for a long time. I can get a lot of profit from them. If these coin prices are down I will not have too many losses.
I think Siacoin is a really interesting project, it uses Bitcoin's blockchain technique to decentralize cloud hosting. It's a good solution for the centralized cloud hosting we use nowadays, like Google Drive or Dropbox. When you store your data to their servers then they'll have full control over your data, it's a bad development if you ask me. Data is really valuable, you shouldn't give full access to a company with workers you don't know. Sia solves this problem by storing parts of your data, encrypted on harddrives all around the world. If this project gets more attention then it will increase in value.

Personally, i think Rise has a potential although lisk and rise have similarities but I still go for rise.. I like the platform and base on my research, all in all RISE is great!!! I also heard Rise is more profitable to stake than ark.. Also, much more room for price growth.
The only thing that matters is market cap, a coin that is priced at $10 and has 1 coin in ciruculation and a coin that is priced $1 and has 10 coins in circulation have the same market cap and when market cap increases the price increases. Look at NEM and XRP, they're nearly the same price, but look at the market cap and circulating supply, you'll see they're a bit different.
Something else you can try is ICO's, right now I'm only into CrowdHolding, but if you search you can probably find other good ICO's if you don't like this one. I like this one because they don't have a high sell target, only $1M, while most other ICO's have $20M+.

If you are willing to hold for such a long time then I guess you can take any coins below $1 among marketcap top-30 coins and you are very likely to see at least 3x profit after a few years. Oh, I just looked at coinmarketcap right now and realized that there isn't a lot of options there. Even iota is already $1.61. I would suggest you to buy it anyway, the coin is really awesome. Ripple has good chances of growing in price as well, as it's willing to work with banks. A lot of people say Stellar is a good project, so you might consider investing in it as well. Just diversify your money among a few projects and wait. Good luck!

Look at Ripple(XRP).He is cheap and getting cheaper day by day,but he is in top5 coins by capitalization because there are billions of XRP capped ;/

There are always a few gems that can be found under $1. It was Monero for a long time, but now it's at a nice $200/XMR where it belongs. Of course Monero will still go higher.
There are alot potential altcoins very likely to boom in 2 or 3 years.The most important thing is doing a criticial research on which ones to invest in.

Much better if you invest in $Onion, its 1$ lastweek and now its 2$ .This is best for long term hold because DeepOnion start to raise up. or if you want fast raise price, go buy ethereum blue on Etherdelta,Coinexchange. That's the best altcoin for me
