I advise you to hold ether and wave. Because ETH & wave have own exchange and it's price grow rapidly. Its will growing continuously in future. ether is a only one competitor of btc and wave is competitor of ether. So I advice you to hold ether and wave too.

I would recommend you to hold waves and civic. Waves is one of those projects which will surely grow in future. Many people believe that waves will replace ethereum in future. You can expect high returns from waves.
Civic is a project based on low cost identity verification. I think it will be very popular in future and its price will surely double itself within 1 year. You should hold these two coins.

Altcoin buy is totally depends on some experience of any particular coin that coin value is decreasing or increasing to one side and what is main purpose of coin and what technology is using coin for transaction. every body have some favorite coin which he is always suggested to buy because he know the data of that coin and he know what price is best to buy particular coin. I like DEEPCOIN,RIPPLE ABY DGB,NAV,RDD and PURA. These coin will hundred percent grow with in 2 and 3 years. any one can collect these coin at any price for huge profit.

I really wouldn't invest in altcoins right now (October 2017). Everything has been thrown into a mess because of the bitcoin price surge that makes it hard to do any technical analysis. Personally, i suggest you just get on the Bitcoin pump train until after the Bitcoin Gold "dividend" (October 25).

Afterwards, here are my top 5 altcoin picks:

I think if you hold Ethereum it is very promising because Ethereum is a good altcoin for long-term hold.

I think etjereum is still the best altcoin to hold for many years. None of other coins can be close to it. Also there are coins loike omg and neo which has huge future potential that I enjoy to hold.

you can buy NEO,DGB, SC or ETH for long term...during volume of coin is always stable that safe enough for long term, becouse the most important the coin never delist during holding.

Definitely Stratis I bought Stratis at 3k sat and it went to 460k sat max, although now is only 58k sat, it is still 50x in btc value, and 500x in fiat. Long term holding!

Very clever indeed! Having always space for some new project that can give benefits is smart. There is no denial in the death of some crypto coins within next two to three years like bitcoin cash is not having very good time nowadays but we have some options rather coins that will definitely survive for next 2 to 3 years.

Altcoins that secure top positions and have been in market for a long period now like ethereum, monero, litecoins, waves can bring huge profits.

i just hold one altcoin max 6 months , no more .

and keep holding bitcoin 5-10 yeas , this is my plan .

Every one is recommending Ethereum i cannot agree more that in the coming years it will be 1000 dollars.
Another altcoin worth holding is RIPPLE XRP. Its current price is very attractive. After 3 years this altcoin may even exceed the 1 dollar price.

I can`t predict the future price, but for me altcoins to hold for 2-3 years are Ethereum, Ripple, Peercoin.

There are a lot of altcoins out there today, and it will not be easy for us to choose which altcoin will be successful or not in years to come. I'll give you some tips, first, on how to identify good altcoins so that it can help you later decide by your own before I give my altcoins of choice.

First, look for those altcoins which are cheap. It is nice to buy bunch of coins/tokens if you plan to keep them for a long time. Thus, buying coins/tokens at cheaper price will be a great start.

Second, look for those altcoins with high market cap. Market cap (in the cryptocurrency language) refers to the total value of all the coins of a certain altcoin. That is, the current price of a coin of a certain altcoin multiplied by the total number of coins of that altcoin circulating in the market. For example, if all BTC (21M) are already mined today and all are circulating, then the market cap for BTC for today (current price is $4,500) will be approx. $94.5B (REALLY!?). That's a lot of money  (BTC has a current market cap of $76B with 16.6M coins circulating in the market).

Next is the total number of circulating supply. The higher the circulating supply of a coin, the lower the chance for it to reach its highest price. This is actually a basic concept in economics - the Law of Supply and Demand. If there's a high supply of a certain product, the tendency is that the price will be low.

Lastly (this is my personal basis), look at the history/price chart of the altcoins that you want to choose. It is good to invest to coins with a price chart that has increasing or stable (at least at a reasonable value) trend. An altcoin that comes from low value going up to higher value is, in my opinion, a good choice.

Now, I would like to give you my personal picks of altcoins which I think will be good for long term investment. My best choice will be RIPPLES - low price; although it has high circulating supply, its market cap is ranked as 3rd highest among cryptocurrencies and has a increasing trend of price chart (+ 15%). Another good choices, for me, are: WAVES - low price; although the circulating supply is high and the trend of price chart is decreasing (-11%), it has good market cap value ranked no.18. I also believe that WAVES has a bright future; and STEEM - low price; although it has high circulating supply and the trend is decreasing (-7%), it has still a good market cap value ranked no.22.
