For you to have better understanding about how can altcoins go in the near future, you can check their performances in the coinmarketcap, go to trending and click gainers and losers. You can see all the coins that performs well and note their volume. You can base on their volume just because coins that has biggest volumes are ones that have serious projects and a huge community support. Ill say 500k volume above is the recommended coin you can invest if you are looking for longterm. Anyways, Goodluck to your journey!
if you do that (holding altcoin for up to 3 years) you are a patient and brave person in taking the risk, but I hope you think again to hold the coin for that though it is likely to earn a big profit
I think to hold bitcoin for up to 3 years is too long and too risky, better look at altcont conditions alone for safer investments rather than expecting an uncertain profit

I think 2-3 year crypto currency is a very long time. It is very difficult to predict the growth of coins, But you want 2-3 years holding so I suggest you must be good at choosing which coin is right to be stored for long period of time. You keep BTC and ETH for the time . Becouse BTC is the king of crypto currency .
Would have said tezos but a little sceptical now. Probably iota, lisk and stratis is what I would go for.
CVC, ADEX, OMG, EMC2, IOP, MCO, ENJ, WAV - These are a few of my long term holds. Really trying to diversify within the cryptosphere as much as possible.

since if they realese all their feature i think their rate is should be more than now
In my opinion, Ripples, Stellar and Neo are the best coins for you to buy now and hold for 2 or 3 years. Because they are potential coins with good developers which are set low price. In long term, they will go up x3, x4. I believe that.

Definitely Stratis I bought Stratis at 3k sat and it went to 460k sat max, although now is only 58k sat, it is still 50x in btc value, and 500x in fiat. Long term holding!
There are so many altcoins that has shown huge prospect this year and great chance of performing and I believe 2 years is a bit long for them to even do better. STRAT is one for sure, and I am really looking at this coin for longer prospect among others. The year has been tough though for some of this projects with BTC's development and anyone wise would really use this opportunity to stash some of this coins.

I would recommend you to buy waves, straits and ripple. All of these coins are very popular and can show good amount of growth in future. Waves is regarded as ethereum killer by many and believe that it will replace ethereum in future. You can expect it's price to be above 50$ in 2-3 years. Ripple is another coin I would recommend you to buy and hold. The coin is based upon the idea of global value exchange and global banking. Good returns can be expected within 2-3 years.
STRATIS is friends with big names like microsoft which makes it a coin with very high potential.you can expect itss price to double itself in coming years.
I think NEO-ETH-WAVES-QTUM-STRAT-LTC-OMG-PTOY are good for long term investment. One more thing, community based coins are better for the long term, you can search about it.
I did invest in DAY. Planning to hold for the long term and consistently top up over time. DAY is one of the projects out there to be taken very serious and its a long term hold with huge potential 2020.
