I think the best and most trustworthy altcoin is Ethereum. I do believe that ETH do have the potential to compete with BTC in the near future. Many ICO do depend on ETH that is why ETH popularity increase day by day.

You have your point but I think people are just asking for some opinion so they can study that coin and invest on it later on. Its not easy to analyze the market so I think its ok to ask for some help but of course don’t ever depend on it. People must still make their own research, spend more time reading the price movements so they can invest confidently on any coin.

This is true and we all know that, but op is simply looking for suggestions. Nothing wrong with suggesting a particular coin or token since op has to decide which coin or token to invest into and our feedback could help. Personally, I believe that Ethereum and NEO are the safer coins with huge upside potential which is why I already have some of these coins and am HODLING at the moment. Well, there are many alts that will be successful, but I am not sure about one-year period. First goes NEO token, which probably will be benefit for you only for 7 months' time, try this one.
It is Ether that moon last year but it is hard to predict if it can be the same this year due to the current behavior of its price. IOTA is a coin that you can give it a try and hold for a year
I am not a big fan of holding many altcoins, that is the main reason of why i am more than convinced in that the best altcoins to hold are always going to be the top 10 - 15 coins that are on the market, such as neo, ethereum, ltc, and so on
for altcoin you can select some coins some potential coins. but before you start investing you should be able to convince yourself because investing is very risky.

Looks like there is no coin like Neo in the past year. A lot of potential altcoin, but maybe market support is not big enough to fly the coin to the moon. So maybe for the next one year we'll just get a chance on the newly released coins, of course with a greater risk.

Coins like Cardano may have the criteria you want. But looking at the amount of supply and the current market situation, it looks like there will not be any famous coins that will fly to the moon. So maybe you should bet on ico.

I think you can invest in bitcoin, because you hold 1 year from now, I am sure you will get more bitcoin. because the current price condition is also still cheap, so you will easily get it.
Moon is too much of a descriptive reference for growing coins in the market. Although ETH is still scraping around 600 USD +, moon is still a miles away before it could reach even a K this year.
Maybe we shouldn't expect moon within a year as it isn't enough for a coin especially those that are just ended from ICO as their roadmap is not yet completed. But I would suggest to hold the top 10 alts in CMC, forget it for some years and you'll surprise how it grows.

If you want to invest for altcoin and holding it for one year maybe that is not good strategy, holding for one year is too long but if want to do that maybe bitcoin is the best to hold thats the only safest way to hold unlike altcoins there is no assurance.

In my opinion thE best option is BTC and ETH, hold these coin for 1 years will be possible to give muliple times profits. And others coin that still has low marketcap but has strong community in my opinion is Hexx, Linda and Daps, these three altcoins still has low trading volume because not listed yet in big exchange but the community and the team developer look like strong and solid to make their coin more popular and more demand.
