The most promising at the moment I find free distributed coins. As user define value of coin, the people have the more cases of use, the more trades, the more holders etc. This is next step after huge ICOs where projects rises millions of dollars without even alfa-version of project. One of the best examples of free distributed tokes is DeepOnion. Already huge community, good development and marketing. Definitely worth to try, though it is not so easy, as devs are very strict with airdrop rules

my prediction are MOnero, Dash, Eth will be survive for a long time, eventhough ETH trust is going down, but the transaction volume of this coin is still high and I believe Monero can become a good alt coin, the transaction volume is rising from 2016 and it will be another shining alt coin that will survive for a long time

I think the trust of ETH is debatable. Soon after China banning ICO's, the price has risen. Perhaps that is an opportunity to not miss?

I would welcome alt coin suggestions or topics that you could forward me to read upon Smiley

Siacoin for me. has a brilliant idea. good product and good team.

i see some people saying dogecoin. but i think dogecoin will be forgotten in next years. because dogecoin is copy of litecoin..
As you, I think that SiaCoin is promising, I have it, but now the price is so low. Do you think the project will develop in the future?

Litecoin is one of the best coin out here. I believe that litecoin has a good chance to become a world currency since it is extremely fast. Litecoin can easily maintain more than 1 billion people in one blockchain. It does have everything that bitcoin does not have

Do people really think that the dogecoin will live just because it has shibe on it?
For me, the coins that have the most potential are those with innovative tech - like IOTA, Monero. DeepOnion seems strange to me

It's also totally strange to me, I think it's a coin that is not really popular, so we should not invest too much in them.

Ethereum and IOTA will be representative of the bitcoin that can survive in the future.
They have a very consistent advantage and support from a vast community.
Ethereum is a good altcoin and it can survive in the future because it has a great features like smart contract will make the life of ethereum alive because there is a lot of projects everyday and most of them are smart contracts under ethereum so it will become easier for ethereum to stay longer since it has smart contracts that will sustain its life.

If by surviving you mean they will be traded in the market, then yes there are plenty of altcoins who'll be here. If by surviving you mean stable price then it's hard to tell since I doubt any of them will be able to hold if bitcoin crashes tomorrow. Only time can tell but my bet would be on only bitcoin.

Maybe some coins will do. Ether and BTC will survive.

Exactly. Both ETH and BTC will survive for many years to come. There is no doubt for that, as they have constant development and innovation.

However, there are other altcoins or cryptocurrencies on the market which may not survive in the future if they cannot keep up with constant updates and community support. Such coins are usually low traded ones like Tekcoin which lacks development and innovation. But, if they remain actively traded on the markets, then there should be nothing to worry about when trying to sell them.

Nevertheless, only time will tell whenever people will keep using these currencies in the future or not. Just my thoughts Grin

Based on what it has been seen among the wide array of altcoins such as development, innovation, and security issues, what altcoins might survive in the future?

In my opinion, I think that the only ones prone to survive would be good old altcoins such as Litecoin and Dogecoin, but I may be wrong.

Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this as well as any altcoin that might be worth holding onto for the long term.  Grin

Dogecoin, is not good, litecoin (LTC) is good because assians like it and they pump it sometimes very hard. In long term, it's hard to lose money with LTC. Moreoever, etc is also good in case of a pump. Their team will generate some ICO I think.

I agree with you litecoin is reliable and safe. If people like it they will surely invest. So i think that ltc will survive.

in my opinion etherum (ETH) is the best,yet...ripple (XRP) because has the 'touch' of banks, litecoin (LTC) is safe and for everybody, monero (XMR) because is clasic...and the rest of alts with a serious market cap  Wink

Correct. Ethereum is the second most largest cryptocurrency by market cap, so it has higher chances of surviving for the long term than any other altcoin in existence. On the other hand, we got Ripple which is centralized but backed by banks which could lead to its survival for many years to come.

In the case of Litecoin, it has managed to remain quite stable over the course of years, and it aims to reach consensus in a fast pace unlike Bitcoin itself. Given its recent SegWit upgrade, Litecoin could remain actively traded on the markets for quite a long time. And last but not least, there's Monero which has been a pioneer in anonymity and has managed to grow over the years. With its unique privacy features, it may continue to grow in demand, as people become vary of their transparency when making transactions on the Bitcoin network.

Another coin that I would like to add here is Dogecoin. It has been one of the oldest cryptocurrencies in existence, yet it has been actively traded on the markets over the course of years. Even if it lacks active development and innovation, its speed and ease of use for micropayments makes it ideal for its long term survival. Just my opinion Smiley

Well, Dogecoin is struggling right now, but make no mistake, it'll survive.
doge will have some update soon.

Because Assians like it? Haha, I suppose this is a good enough reason. But you might be interested to know that Litecoin has a big non-asian following. It will always be regarded as Bitcoins smaller brother, so it will be there for as long as Bitcoin is alive, if not longer. Dogecoin? How can you ever kill the most fun coin in the whole wide world? We'll never let Shibe go away.

A lot of people put so much money in vaporware, it's disgusting. There are very few really innovative project out there and in my opinion iota is probably the best one. I expect it to achieve ethereum like growth in 2018 and beyond and even challenge bitcoin at some point. Most of the traditional blockchain projects will suffer serious scalability issues eventually.
