Because gambling will always be there, unlike for someone who stopped smoking cigarettes, after a year or 2 they don't like the smell of that smoke anymore, it makes them puke. I know from experience.
But gambling is different, when you watch sports it can trigger the desire to bet for your favorite team and most pay-per-view now shows advertisements for gambling like Draft Kings in NBA. Then, even the commentators are talking about how much the odds are for over and under total score.

Decides or understands that gambling addiction is progressing? I dont believe that gambling addiction can be stopped just by loosing interest to gambling. Persons habits or objects of interest might, new hobbies appear - that can help. But I cant believe that person got addicted to gambling and suddenly become not addicted. Either he was never addicted at all, but just lost a huge amount of money, either he will break and get back.

I think alternative money will not help to stop addiction. It does not matter what gambler uses to place bets, because he seeks emotions from risking and winning with something he could lost and has value.

At least it can work for some people who really want to avoid gambling addiction so they continue to use fake money provided by the casino. If that person can manage his desire and emotion to gamble using real money, he will be fine. But we know those desires and emotions can get bigger easily as we lose control of ourselves after playing a few rounds. But if the gambler wants to reduce the money lost from gambling games, it is by not gambling too often and using his time to do other activities.

This is quite possible, it is because of this the treatment for addictions not only includes staying away from whatever the person got addicted in the first place, but also to stay away from any activity or environment which could trigger them to fall into addiction again, and without a doubt gambling with play money falls into that umbrella, as even if they are not using real money they are still gambling in a way, which sooner or later will cause in those people the desire to use real money as well.

The desire or the lust inside that gambler will continue to flow and the sooner that he will get the chance to play with real money, he will be engaged and will be addicted more. Imagine if he can win using play money. He will try that into reality. I mean, they will try their best to make it happen, and the worse outcome is not just losing their money but to get more addicted to these activities.

Play money might be used as a pastime, but if you are into a moving or quitting for good, better to look for alternative activities that are not related to gambling.

Yes, that is right! These apps doesn't work the way it is created because the gamblers who are looking to quit from these activities will just find themselves again in a situation where they don't want in the first place because of the hope that these apps created, the gamblers may think that maybe this time they won't be that unlucky anymore.

But, I think a determined gambler who really wanted to quit knows how to keep some safe distance in any instances that could connect them again to gambling activities.

Gambling wont be the best choice if you are looking for something in terms of leisure but since you dont really like on losing money then it would really be that common sense that you should avoid it at all cost but if you could really make out some spending or willing to lose amounts then it wont really be that to have some gambling time for the leisure you do seek off. Valid point. For those people who want to gamble and earn at the same time, using demo account or fake money in gambling certainly don't makes any sense. It will just be a waste of time and effort for them because they are after the gain from it. And if they won't use real money, there are definitely no returns for them. Hence, opting for using real money is a better option if they really want to risk. Meanwhile, if someone is just a newbie and just wants to check and learn how gambling works, then demo account or fake money might be a good option.

Fake money and demo accounts are good for newbies for them to practice without losing anything. They will learn the do's and don'ts of gambling without sacrificing anything yet. After learning the basics, they can eventually start betting with real account using real money with small bets for starters to actually practice what they have learned. Somehow "tutorial-like". It is enjoyable no doubt about that, but this is only for the first month or less that you have been using the application. After that, you will be looking for more, or in other cases, boredom strikes because nothing is really on the line.
It's no different from the game applied on Facebook which is Zynga Poker. I even spent a lot of time sending chips to friends so they can send me back more.
I use to play that before but because you are not using real chips you tend to not care about winning or losing, you become more aggressive with your moves while your brain is telling you is not real money.

The difference is psychological mostly, when we play with demo money the dopamine doesn't pump our greedy emotions so we can't get same experience like we do on real gambling sessions. Unfortunately, promotions are trap for depositing into casino because this is how the casino management be sure we will go deposit to chase our losses. Blocking all gambling related websites and self exclusion can be helpful if addiction is not controllable.
