Is AEON now an expensive coin? Or should we wait for the market to grow?

@sokol2504. I suggest that you stick to and hold everything you have in bitcoin, and don't you even think about investing in an obscure altcoin like Aeon. We honestly do not know where this project is going.

Also, the last thing we need are newbies like you ranting about losing money.

Did I understand correctly that AEON can only be changed to bitcoin? And I can buy it too, just for bitcoin? It's difficult for me. Why can not I spend fiat on this? As a beginner, it's easier for me to take part in an investment platform, for example Safinus. I will not have difficulties

#1 - Welcome to Crypto!

#2 - Almost all altcoins require that you exchange them for Bitcoin and then exchange the Bitcoin for fiat. There are some exceptions, but they are usually only the biggest coins, such as Ethereum, Litecoin, etc... It's an extra step to trade fiat for Bitcoin to buy altcoins, but it's not that difficult to do.

@smooth and stoffu. With the code rebase done and a new, better release coming soon, will we see Aeon listed back in Poloniex again?

In case you did not read about it in the news, Poloniex was purchased by Circle and might become the first US regulated exchange.

There's nothing but positives for us to be in there again hehehe.

I have no idea what Poloniex plans to do now that it is part of Circle, sorry. Maybe they'll finally get around to answering my ticket about missing coins (not AEON) that has been open for a year or more.

Speaking generally, the trend these days is that most if not all exchanges require NDA by any coin reps while any discussions or work toward a listing take place, so questions about upcoming listings are pretty pointless. If there were something going no one could discuss it (not just this coin but any).

Lower memory usage and greater code similarity with Monero should facilitate listings (also speaking generally).

Which exchange that can change aeon coin to other coin with small amount?

You can exchange AEON for Bitcoin on either Bittrex or HitBTC exchange. You can then trade the Bitcoin for many other coins if you wish.

It's strange that he did not make an announcement here or on Reddit. Maybe smooth was trying to avoid any controversy or avoid having the community dispute the chosen path for the rebase?

I'm confused about what you find strange. I discussed the bounty with the other sponsors (katiecharm and exciter0) and we reached a conclusion. katiecharm (who was really the most active in proposing, organizing, and supporting the bounty) posted the conclusion on reddit and I replied that I was supporting that conclusion.

Perhaps I should have mentioned it here (not just on reddit) but besides that what part is strange?

Sorry smooth, I do not visit Aeon's Reddit that much. I usually read the main post but I rarely read the replies thoroughly because of the non-linear format. It's my fault.

I also thought you were the person to first announce the winner of the bounty, that's all. But there are no worries from me, except for the drama when Dr.Paradoxical started defaming stoffu. I knew something like that was coming.

I was the person to announce the winner in terms of submitted rebase code chosen to use going forward, but that was done first on GitHub, not here or reddit. I understand that makes it more visible to actual developers than community members, so I agree it would be better in future circumstances to do so in more community-visible ways.

The award division of the bounty pool was discussed among the sponsors and katiecharm ended up announcing it but that wasn't something I paid much attention to beyond taking part in the discussion. I was never the driving force behind the bounty, although I did support it with some donation fund AEONs.

I think taking a more community centric approach is the right way to go for sure.

I think it's just that not everyone on this forum is aware that Reddit tends to be a more active place for discussion and/or announcements etc.  Perhaps a sentence in the first post of the thread telling folks to keep a close eye on Reddit as well as this forum for the latest news?

Good suggestion

The group behind Dr.Paradoxical was indeed loud and it almost appeared that they suggested there should be community consensus behind them and more when they proposed 2 hardforks a year and activating RingCT.

I thought this was odd as well but there are some serious accusations fluttering about which has me a little concerned. Smooth has been a steadfast leader in turbulent times and I doubt this will change. On another note, I am happy with the progress we seem to be making.

@smooth. We haven't heard from you in a while ever since the drama exploded on Reddit. I would like to hear some of your thoughts on the matter and what you think about Dr.Paradoxical's accusations on stoffu.

I reckon it was an just honest mistake on his part, and maybe partly from frustration that all their hard work was not merged in the codebase.

Stoffu did his rebase in only 24 hours. That must be so annoying when you did yours for more than a month hehehe.

As a community, we should forgive and forget.

Interesting times for AEON. When to expect an official announcement about the code rebate?

Very good news, stoffu's rebase has been declared the Functionally Complete Rebase by Smooth

Source: https://github.com/aeonix/aeon-rebase/pull/4

"iamsmooth
Noting for the benefit of people contributing to this PR and the previous one that the current plan is to declare this method the winner both for bounty purposes (as decided by bounty sponsors) and also accepted for eventual adoption as the main AEON codebase.

Other submissions will be declared runners up, will also receive a portion of the bounty, and are encouraged to submit their value-add, if any, as individual PRs following the conclusion of the rebase task."

Congrats to stoffu, I get from his reddit comments he was not driven by the bounty, however the bounty has been highly effective in galvanising the effort for the re-base which lacked progress before the bounty was set by Smooth from the developer fund and the kind donations from katiecharm and exciter0. Looking at moneromooo's review comments it does seem that stoffu has minimized the changes to the Monero code in his rebase submission which I believe is the correct approach to allow Aeon to benefit from Moneros continued development but will also allow Aeon to flourish with potentially new independent features which will be more mobile focused through AEON's own development community.

Hopefully developers from the competing Dr. Paradoxical team and slb will come together with Smooth & stoffu and assist re-base testing to get to main-net and also drive forward future AEON development.

On wards and upwards for AEON  Smiley

Indeed great news! Can't wait to be officially released.
