There are now three rebase submissions.

The first was from u/slbbb (also slb on bitcointalk) who did not submit a pull request but did good and early work in his own repo, first notified me privately and later suggested that I share: https://github.com/pmitchev/aeon-rebased

The two recent submissions are PRs in the official repo: https://github.com/aeonix/aeon-rebase/pulls

u/stoffu
u/DrParadoxically team

I do not believe there will be any more submissions.

The bounty sponsors will now confer regarding a decision on awards to be made.

I will concurrently evaluate the submitted work for purposes of: a) advising the bounty sponsors as the the nature and quality of the work, b) adopting some or all of one or more submissions as the code base for the coin in its main repo going forward.

good news, rebase in progress now.

Perhaps I should be more clear. I was more or less saying that anything is possible with this coin, not that we have some bad actors in our camp. haha.

Huh? No, not that. I reckon some of the developers who are in for the bounty are sailing in their own direction and are also trying to get the community behind them to get some consensus.

Somehow I knew something like this would happen. I wish someone like Moneromooo was involved in the rebase, not some developer who cannot be trusted.

I speculate anything is possible as per the mining attack that happened with aeon pool. Luckily, smooth is spearheading the operation and it is in good hands in the long run.

What was the point of that memo and what went on in there that caused smooth to deliver a message?

When stuff like

It is not to decide on consensus upgrades, nor ask grand sweeping questions about the AEON community and direction and So, please, all participants please complete your rebase efforts and make a submission of working code (according to the existing AEON consensus rules) ASAP

are said, I reckon some developers might be having another idea that doesn't go together with what was originally planned by smooth.

Do we have traitors within our community?

This was down in one of the threads and I want to repost this up at the top level for better visibility.

BEGIN QUOTE
Let me clarify a bit what I meant when I said I thought we could defer activating RingCT after the rebase. The Monero code includes RingCT and removing it would be extra work. I have always expected that the rebased code would include RingCT.

However, Monero also included the RingCT code before RingCT was activated on the mainnet. That is, all of the RingCT code is inactive until reaching a certain minimum mainnet block version. We will have to schedule our own hard forking schedule for increasing block versions and activating features. Just because the code is rebased does not mean that we must increase block versions and activate features on the same schedule (in fact that is impossible since Monero did so some time ago), nor immediately.

I believe we can do the same thing here, and yes I believe that RingCT without bulletproofs is very heavyweight for AEON, not only given the vision and branding but also as a practical matter it is a lot more to expect people to run an expensive node on a coin worth a few bucks than a coin worth hundreds of dollars. One of the risks that always confronts low-value coins is lack of third party support (such as exchanges) because the resource requirements are too high. The rebase is being done in part to reduce resource requirements. Let's avoid giving with one hand and taking away with the other.

So again I would reiterate that I believe the best path forward is for the rebased code to include the RingCT code, not make extra changes removing it, and also that RingCT code should not be activated immediately on the main net. If there are unit tests validating the RingCT code in Monero, which I would expect that there are, those should pass in the rebase. Whether or not to activate it on the test net right now is debatable, but I would suggest to defer that too, and have a testnet matching the intended mainnet configuration for now, in order to assist in transitioning everyone to the new code once it is ready.
END QUOTE

In addition, I want to implore the rebase effort participants to avoid 'mission creep'. The goal of the rebase project and the purpose for which a bounty has been offered is to update the code base. It is not to decide on consensus upgrades, nor ask grand sweeping questions about the AEON community and direction.

So, please, all participants please complete your rebase efforts and make a submission of working code (according to the existing AEON consensus rules) ASAP. There has already been one submission that is largely functional. I have stated previously that there can be multiple submissions and multiple winners but that timeline is not unlimited. We need to complete the rebase, get it deployed, and then move on with future development efforts to address these other concerns after the rebase.

is it possibile to mine it with GPU and claymore miner?

Hi, as far as I know, Claymore uses Criptonight algorithm and AEON is based in Criptolight (Criptonight Lite) so is not possible. Regarding to mine AEON with GPU, I can tell you that it is possible. I have used an old NVIDIA GTX 750 with good results.

@boomboombazookajeff. Well that is nothing new. People always get burned by the market hehehe. I am more worried about Aeon's code rebase. I fear that none of the code submissions will pass the smooth standard, bringing us back to zero again.

The Aeon hype is starting and I reckon, it will be a victim of high expectations and also of course, high price volatility. I cannot believe someone has already started making it appear that Aeon's development is doing very good.

There are greedy pump and dumpers in Aeon, everyone. Do not succumb to the hype. Aeon's development is still in murky waters.

This was posted in the subreddit as well. I think some people are going to get burned.

It's ok for me to use the command line wallet, but for many others is not. It's simply of stopper for massive adoption of AEON.

Wait for the code rebase. When that is done, development on new features will be faster including an official GUI. Remember that Monero was in the same situation once, but their development team made sure that the core software was stable before adding anything else.

Also, if you are a speculator this is a good time to keep buying.

who pay for dev team there?

There is donation fund of about 450K AEON, so some level of funding, however the core team has only been volunteers so far. Bounties have been used to pay independent developers a number of times.
